Eastside Lodge was easy to find, and was spotless. After a little initial confusion at check-in, the lovely gentleman at the desk directed us to our clean and comfortable rooms. The next morning at checkout, the very pleasant lady chatted with us, and reassured us that we could leave our car in the motel car park safely while we went off to explore Portland. The cleanliness of the rooms and the kind personalities of the lovely couple at check in and check out (I assume they are the owners) make this a super place to stay. Location is also great eg 20 mins walk to the Moda centre

There were loud and rowdy tenants in a room next to one of ours, which became quite loud as the evening went on, though the noise had died out by 11pm-ish

Yes, it's older basic budget lodging, but it was very clean, owner at lobby desk gave amazing customer service, even handing me keys to check out two different rooms for my preference. We were worried if parking would overfill if out late and she mentioned option to go into lobby and they would help to have 3 or so cars that could park under portico at entrance. Rooms had refrigerator, (I think microwave) desk area, end table lights with plug-ins on base, bathroom sink had shelf below, all the things that make a room handy. Blankets super clean, bed and pillows comfy.

Yes, it's older styles, parking free but not guaranteed availability. However we were there on Saturday night for a late night event and husband found parking at 2am.

A spruced-up, old-style motel, this place was nicer than I had expected, to be honest. Staff members were wonderful, and my room was very comfortable. Everything worked, the wifi was fine, the room was cleaned every other day (unusual in these post-pandemic days of disaster capitalism), and I looked out over a quiet side street. Portland isn't huge (or very diverse), but it has these several-block strips here and there with interesting shops, coffee places, and restaurants. This motel is in the middle of one along East Burnside, and it was not a long walk to the Hawthorne district (like a small, very white version of Wicker Park's Division Street in Chicago). There is a convenience store a few blocks away and a real grocery store about ten minutes south on Belmont. The Burnside bus can take you to Washington Park in 20 minutes. On arriving, I took the light rail (MAX red line) from the airport and then walked from the Lloyd Center stop (about 15 minutes). The Eastside Lodge is also a short walk or bus ride across the bridge into downtown: the White Stag sign, Lan Su Chinese Garden, Jewish museum, several gay bars, and Powell's Books are all along or close to Burnside. Especially that section of downtown Portland is kind of scuzzy, with litter all over and many homeless encampments (as the city pays the price for being compassionate). It isn't dangerous, though.

In absolute terms, you are paying a lot here to stay at a motel. For Portland, however, this place is a really good deal. It's comfortable, safe, and friendly, and the location could not be better. You can hang out with the hipsters across the street at the Doug Fir and think about how much less money you are spending than those staying at the Jupiter and other hotels in the area. Very deck.

Bathroom renovated recently. Easy 20 minutes walk to cross the Burnside bridge to downtown Portland. Yes, there is nightclub sharing the parking lot however we didn't notice any noise from the club. We stayed in corner overlooking NE10th and NE Couch. No one touched our roof box during our four nights stay. Clean rooms. Good breakfasts in East Portland within 10-15 min walk.

There was less than a foot of room between the bathroom sliding door and the bed.

The owners have been running this hotel for 40 years. They treat it like their baby. We had a fantastic stay and are sad to leave. The neighborhood is super safe and walkable. No homeless people or open drug activities around the blocks, if you can believe it. :) It’s a huge bonus when you explore the interesting city with small children.

Nothing.

3 things, location, location, and location! Also, friendly, engaging, helpful staff. A smallish room still had all I needed. Close to stairs and elevator and used them both often! Really enjoyed my stay there.

Only one minor thing, which the staff addressed. Sprung a small leak, a constant drip from the ceiling vent in bathroom. With room on 3rd (top) floor, rain pooled on roof and soaked thru. Found it and reported it around midnight. Maintenance assistance not available until morning. Cheerful staff provided a clever solution, an empty trash bin with a towel spread across, held with paper clips. It worked! Nearly silent and collected the water. Issue fixed next day, because it kept raining throughout my stay and no more leak!

I was absolutely delighted by my stay at the Eastside Lodge, to the point that I can't imagine booking anywhere else when I return to Portland. + For starters, the owners were VERY KIND. I felt so welcomed when I arrived, not only by the coffee and tea service that I was offered, but by the owners' efforts to orient me to the city and give me lots of helpful information. + This was made even more clear when, owing to an unreliable COVID testing company that never returned my 1-hour results, I had to reschedule my departing flight twice. The owners were so kind to help extend my stay, and thankfully I was able to keep my same room for 2 extra days. + The location was superb. I loved being just across the river from Old Town, so it was easy to walk there within about 15 minutes, and there were lots of other interesting areas within walking distance (like the Hawthorne Asylum food cart pod, 15 minutes south). + Convenient to public transportation, like the B streetcar and the MAX light rail, plus bus lines, all just a few blocks away. This made it really easy to hop the train to and from the airport. + The heater was absolutely wonderful, the best I had on my 7-stop trip. It's controlled via a thermostat on the wall and it actually *works*. I was in heaven. + Strong wifi connection; the only downside was that I had to manually reconnect after each time my laptop locked. + The water was very hot (though you do have to be careful not to crank it up too far because it does get scalding!) + The room had lots of outlets, including at the desk and by the bed, where I could charge laptops, phones, and portable batteries. + I really appreciated that the room included both a fridge and a microwave. + The bed was really soft and comfortable. + Personally, I love having outward-facing rooms, no lobby or keycard access necessary, so delivery drivers could drop off my food right at my door.

- Literally the only complaint I had was that the cubicle shower is on the small side.

Staff was friendly and very helpful. Lots of great places to walk to. No frills and best bang for your buck. Super clean and since we stayed for 5 days the room was cleaned every other day.

It is across the street from a strip club but that was a minor thing. The parking lot is small so bigger vehicles may have an issue. The shower was backwards so hot is cold and cold is hot but again that was minor once I figured it out.

Great location (super close to our favorite chicken and rice restaurant, walking distance to other great restaurants), super friendly staff (they let us store our bicycles behind the front desk and let us extend our check-out time by one hour at no extra charge), great value for money (much better than staying at a Motel6). Enjoyed our stay overall!

Super loud cars on streets late at night which made it difficult for us to sleep, strangely the toilet seems to be hooked up to a hot water tank (the toilet feels warm and there is condensation on toilet seat, we brought this up to staff's attention)
