Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Erie

This is my fifth time at the hotel and I must say there is new staff everywhere specially the breakfast area and that was great as the old staff members acted very rude and I had to ask for things to eat because they took most food away by 9:15 am and one said if I wanted full breakfast I should have came down sooner besides the atmosphere was very uncomfortable as that same person start playing music very loud on their phone and speaker and I felt the management couldn’t do much to stop it perhaps short staffed but this time felt very comfortable and enjoyable .... thank you.

The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable , my grandchildren loved the pull out bed and the pool. We were very comfortable and had a great time!

All my concerns , requests, and needs were met in a timely and friendly manner.

Where to start: We rented the two bed room suite and were not sure what we were getting because the description on the ad are not the best. When first entering the suite was the living room and kitchen. The living room was a good size with its own tv and the fireplace was a very nice touch. You really don't find those in hotels. The couch can pull out into a bed, not sure how comfy it would be we didn't use it but the couch itself was comfortable. The kitchen was wonderful, it was nice to have a full kitchen to work with. The sink even had a garbage disposal. The only thing I would of liked to see was a pizza cutter, can opener, and tongs. The kitchen is full of everything you need to cook a simple meal, a full size oven, pans, pots, strainer, plates, bowels, cups, coffee mugs, utensils, and a casserole dish. A microwave, toaster, and four cup coffee pot are included. To finish it off a full size refrigerator and dishwasher. The bedrooms each have queen beds, dressers, and TVs. There are plugs with two USB ports attached to each side of the beds which floating bedside shelves. A closet to hang clothes and conveniently towels to dry. Conveniently Attached to the bedroom are private full bathroom with the only down side being the height of the tubs which are not short people friendly. There was some general wear and tear throughout the suite such as cracks, tearing wall paper and dents in the wall but it's not a brand new hotel so I find that normal. Our rooms were clean. The hotel also had a nice size pool, hot tub and basketball court. The breakfast was the same options everyday which worked for my family. If not there was always the option to cook in the room. The staff was great and welcoming, always professional. The location was great with the surrounding restaurants and gas stations, along with a super walmart just down the road. We did not come for splash lagoon but it is nice how the hotel is attached.

The elevator was broken which really did not effect us cause taking the staircase was more convenient to where our room was located but I can see that being a nuisance. Our last day of vacation the fire alarm went off twice, one at 640 and the other at 940. It does appear this is a common occurrence, however it was shut off shortly after.

The room was Exactly what I was looking for this trip..I had to travel with my mom n dad to PA for my sons reception, he n his wife are both in the airforce so this was even more special especially for my parents cause they haven't seen him in over 2yrs..besides that it was important to me for them to be comfortable as the trip here was a 7hour drive, so when we got here it was a relief to see they even had their own bathroom..I also had to cook for 65 people,I had pre made some things so having an oven n stove to fry up a ton of chicken cutlets was great.I forgot oven mitts and 2 other utensils that thankfully was provided there in kitchen.I was able to do exactly what I needed to do and accommodate my parents.

When we arrived the reservation was wrong but Megan at the front desk did everything to try and correct the situation. A BIG shout out to her. The maintenance man was so NICE he fixed a clogged drain and fixed the door lock so our door keys would work. The breakfast was very nice and good. Our room was clean. The king bed was comfortable.

The pool floor had water everywhere. The drains did not work. Very bad situation for people walking in it. Someone could have fallen and gotten hurt. Garbage can wasn’t emptied out under the sink when we arrived and dishes were in the dishwasher. Not bad things listed here but could be improved with a little effort ! The pull out bed was not comfortable.

Having our rooms right across from each other so our kids could go back and forth without disturbing the entire hotel. Plus the manager (I'm so sorry I don't recall her name) was a godsend. I booked the wrong room and she instantly did what she could and made it better! That lady is a 10+ lady and deserves ALL the recognition!

The pool was a little small for as many families as there were there. I understand it's attached to splash lagoon so the pool is just a nicety but a little bigger and I'm sure there would have been more pool time for us.

The pool and gym where very nice. Staff tried to be accommodating under difficult circumstances. There was a large storm and a shortage for breakfasts. Also a carbon monoxide leak that we had to leave our floor and wait in the lobby. Maybe they could have offered drinks or gave more information on what was happening. Also the air conditioner was still in our window, and it was letting snow in from the storm. Had to put towels down and close of the windows with the double blinds. It was very cold in that area, so couldn't use the kitchen table.

The gentleman who was serving breakfast was rude when asked about items that where missing like milk and cereal.

The breakfast was great. The hotel was great for the price. The two full beds suite had plenty of room for three tween kids and two adults. The room’s bathroom and walls were a little beat up (probably due to lots of families staying there since it’s right next to Splash Lagoon and an easy drive to Waldemeer Park) but it was very clean, the staff was wonderful and the pool/hot tub was great.

Some of the walls need patching/painting, but I saw painters arriving as we were checking out, so I think they are addressing it.

Room was good and clean, but the bathtub was very slippery to stand in to take a shower. For a suite I would have thought that there would have been some utensils available to use. Not many people going on vacation are packing them.

A little noisy but that is to be expected. Both sinks were clogged up to where it took a while for them to drain.
