Quirky and a little shabby around the edges, as you might expect from this old rail-era hotel. Sense of history was inescapable, and a good bit of it was provided. Staff were efficient and helpful when needed. Glad to see room a/c was going in as we were leaving -- opens possibilities for summer stays! Room arrangements were perfect. The 3-twin-bed room was actually 2 rooms with interconnecting bath! Would come again in a heartbeat.

No fault to the hotel, but between the train whistles at the wee hours and the souped-up loud cars dragging the streets below, it was on the noisy side. And parts of the room (windowsills, radiators) could use a good cleaning or new paint. Plumbing is old and a bit slow, but staff helped out there so it wasn't a problem.

The establishment is very classic and vintage, full of historical ornaments, books, paintings, etc. No wonder since the hotel has been operating since 1849. We got a room with connecting door to another room that we used as a working area. We stayed for a week for my brother's graduation in Dartmouth. The area is very peaceful, people are very hospitable. We love the variety options of tea, coffee, chocolate drink that we can make with the Keurig pod machine. You can also take ice cube from the ice machine on the 2nd floor. I know that public ice machine is ubiquitous in most hotels in the State, but coming from Indonesia, such facility is non-existent.

Since it's a very old building, the floor is creaking when people pass the hall. Our floor in the room, especially near the window is a lil bit angled/crooked, making the working desk also skewed.

Very old quirky hotel with an interesting history, nestled in the heart of the historic district of an equally quirky small town. The huge maze of hallways has a worn around the edges look and is staffed by wonderful, responsive folks. There is little concern for a bit of fallen plaster at the foot of an old grand staircase, but ancient wrinkles aside, it's comfortable and clean. If noise is an issue for you, it's proximity to the train depot may be a problem, but it didn't bother us.

The fact that the elevator was broken. There was an additional elevator, but it is not accessible to the 2nd floor.

The Coolidge is a one-of-kind, historic hotel, Not at all like a typical, modern chain hotel. So much history and interesting architecture inside the hotel. The staff is truly special. Andrew and everyone was so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help you. I loved the extra space of the sitting room in our suite.Huge King Bed was quite comfortable, great showers, and lots of hot water. Don’t forget to ask to see the murals in the Vermont Room! An unforgettable visit!

I liked everything. If you are the kind of person who expects “luxury”, this may not be the place for you. If you are adventurous and seeking an interesting hotel experience that is perfectly comfortable you will love the Coolidge Hotel!

This hotel is in a great location. The train station is right across the street and there are some amazing places to eat within walking distance. The staff were incredibly nice. There was a slight error with what I had booked through Booking and what they saw on their end and they immediately accommodated me without any questions. You might have to get your coffee from the lobby, but it was the good stuff and not the cheap coffee I've seen many times in rooms.

As everyone says, the trains can be heard from the hotel. After my first night, I put some white noise on my phone and slept fine. Ironing boards and a hairdryer would be a simple upgrade that would make most a little happier with their stay.

From the checkin with Tom to checking out Sunday morning, all went smoothly and was quite enjoyable. My sister and I enjoyed Tom’s dry sense of humor. He’s quite the character. It was an easy walk to Elixir for dinner Saturday night and the service, menu selections and waitstaff were all exceptional. Our room was on the second floor facing the back of the building. Very comfortable, clean and perfect for our two night stay.

Our only suggestion is to install some kind of shelf or rack in the shower stall to hold soap, shampoos, etc.

The hotel staff was super helpful. The space was a suite, very clean! All the areas in Hotel Coolidge where I participated in a series of meetings were scrupulously clean. The room radiator was overpowered by the cold, but each room in my suite had an additional, portable heater so I was quite comfortable. I enjoyed the beautiful woodwork, especially the stair railings but was also glad for the super quiet elevator. Fireplaces were lit, coffee, tea and decaf were available all day in the lobby. A rustic, lovely place. Private parking lot was a bonus.

The cushions on the furniture—sofa in the suite and chairs in the lobby—were worn and compressed. The radiator pipes would thud sometimes in the night. I’d still return!

Friendly check in.

It was kind of confusing getting back into the hotel after we parked in the lot. We weren't sure where the entrance was but we figured it out. Also, wasn't really happy with the water pressure or the water temps...it went from warm/hot to chilly and back. Too inconsistent. Disappointed to see room prices dropped dramatically from my stay. Paid $140 for a room that is currently listed in the $93 - $121 range. To be honest, the one night stay was not worth it, and there was not a hair dryer in the room. Had to go out and buy one. There was peeling, chipped paint in the hallways, old, worn out cords running to extension forces in the hall...just a fire waiting to happen. Wi-Fi was wicked slow as well. Again, not worth the $140 I paid. I feel as though I was ripped off.

it was conveniently located near the town where we wanted to do our primary visits (Woodstock, VT). This was a very affordable option and it was a cute historic hotel. Parking was decent, though you had to go a round about way due to construction.

given the age of the hotel, it was kept up pretty well. If you're used to fancier settings, this may not be for you. However, it was perfectly find for my husband and I. It was cozy and clearly as clean as they could get it with the old/scuffier/weathered rooms. We were mostly out of the hotel anyway to check out Woodstock. The main eye sore that they couldn't control is the construction around the building.

The staff at Coolidge Hotel were so obliging and helpful and we can’t thank them enough for making our stay so memorable. We arrived to find a lovely blazing log fire in the reception area which was most welcome. We hadn’t had any breakfast or lunch on the way up as everywhere there was a queue of 2-hour wait and overhearing us mentioning this at reception the owner very kindly went and fetched us a plate of sandwiches which was so kind and much appreciated. They were also very helpful in advising us where to eat in the evening and booking a table for us. We would definitely come again if we ever come back to Vermont and would have no reservation in recommending the hotel to friends and family. It was just the kind of hotel we had imagined we would find on our trip to New England.

It would have been nice if we could have had breakfast in the hotel instead of having to go out and find somewhere to eat. It was a busy holiday weekend and so everywhere was full and had long queues of people waiting for a table. So if we could have had breakfast in the hotel that would have made our stay even better.
