It was a very nice house outside of Woodstock with a great view of the surrounding hills. The host, Cynthia, was very welcoming and warm. She responded to messages and inquiries very quickly and she provided lists of restaurants and things to do in town. This was especially helpful because we stayed during Thanksgiving and many places were closed or had different hours. The breakfast each morning was a great assortment and very filling. The bed was also very comfortable.

A small refrigerator or some space to store food would be helpful. Also extra blankets that could be readily used would make it a little more comfortable for people who get cold easily. We stayed on the upstairs floor, across the hall from other guests. It can get a bit noisy when people walk in the hall or open and close the bathroom door.

Just returned from The Birch Grove for a two night stay in Woodstock VT. Beautiful home in a quiet location ten minute drive from the village. The room was cozy, large and comfortable. The home is nicely decorated warm and welcoming. Our host Cynthia was so gracious and kind, I felt like I was staying with family. Beautifuly presented continental breakfast with cereal, yogurt, granola, homemade breads, jams, and pastries. Sitting room for guests, and in warm weather patio with view of hills. Added bonus was friendly dog and two cats that made us feel like we were at home. We did share a bathroom with the other guests staying at the home but it was not an issue for us.

Cynthia is an excellent innkeeper who makes everyone feel welcomed. She has a very friendly dog who greets you every time you enter the house. Be aware that the two rooms share a bath room but that bath is quite large and has well-appointed fixtures. Also be prepared for a drive on a one-way bridge up a narrow road at quite a slope. My GPS did well finding the property but watch for curves and dips on the way up the hill to the inn.

A larger lighted sign at the end of the driveway would be helpful for those arriving after dark or returning to the inn after dinner in town.

I stayed here with my mother for one night, and it was very pleasant! Beautiful views and our hostess Cynthia was very kind and welcoming, but not overbearing. The lawn and garden area was also very well cared for. The room felt so cozy and homey, it was like staying with friends. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. I was pleased to find a place with a shared room with 2 single beds. Great if you're travelling with a family member or close friend. Breakfast was simple but tasty. We were offered a choice of tea or coffee, and there were cereals and fruit laid out. Hostess also brought us homemade sweet bread which was delicious! Ideal if you have plans to explore the town or hike and don't want to start the day with a heavy breakfast. We had booked a larger brunch in town around noon so this was perfect. Cynthia checked in the evening before about a time for breakfast, and everything was ready when we came down. She made sure we were comfortable and settled, chatted briefly, and then moved to a different room. We felt she was available should we need something, but not hovering which was nice. The bathroom has a separate entrance from the hall, which is shared with one other room (It is not shared with the owners). We were the only ones staying there, so I can't speak to how sharing would be, but I imagine it would not be a big problem. There is no entrance to the bedroom from the bathroom, so no dealing with remembering to lock/unlock doors for other guests. Location was a few minutes outside of town, but nothing strange by Vermont standards. We were also greeted by a very sweet, well-behaved dog, and met a friendly cat with a nice dramatic personality, as cats should have! Overall very nice and added to the enjoyment of our trip!

After two years of Covid isolation, my husband and I needed a quick getaway in a picturesque and quiet location to shed the stresses of dealing with the awful virus. We decided to find a nice, quiet, place in beautiful, Vermont. We feel we lucked out beyond our wanting. The views all around the home are breathtaking. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere on the property. We appreciate nature and The Birch Grove gave us the beauty and peace we crave. We were welcomed like good friends and waited upon much to our gratitude. We are definitely looking forward to going back to the Birch Grove sometime in the fall to take in the autumn colors and comforting hospitality.

My husband and I not making advanced dining reservations,, although our gracious host spared no time in making reservations for us at a most acceptable, local, restaurant in the Woodstock, lovely town.

Location is 2+ miles from Woodstock's center uphill on a country road. The view from the deck is lovely - woods just beyond the nicely landscaped yard, and mountains in the distance. Our spacious room had a great mattress, lovely linens on queen bed, and good reading light. The bathroom between the two available rooms is shared by them. It is clean, well-lit. Both rooms are upstairs. The breakfast included tasty freshly baked goodies, cereals, juice, good coffee and tea. The hosts and their well-behaved pets were very friendly and helpful. Great experience.

Cynthia is a delightful host, Breakfast was lovely, property is located in a quiet tranquil rural area. Room is large and comfortable.

Property has only two rooms, which is fine, but sharing the bathroom is certainly not acceptable at $190 a night. It was ok for us because the other room was vacant, but would have been terrible to share a bathroom with a stranger.

Cynthia is an amazing host. My car got stuck in snow on the way to the house, and it was after 10pm. I've texted Cynthia and she drove to meet me on my way. The house overall is also amazing, very clean and beautiful. Highly recommend.

The house is on a hill, so you may need AWD to get there if there is snow or ice. A regular car is fine if there is no precipitation.

Cynthia was an awesome host and her home was everything that you’d picture in quaint Vermont. The home was lovely - all the comfortable additions that you’re not expecting and the grounds outside were beautiful. We spent a couple of hours sitting on the deck looking at the dense trees and the green mountains. Highly recommend a visit!

What a lovely stay! The accommodations were exceptionally clean, tasteful, and cozy. Our host was gracious and gave attention to all the details -- a warm comforter was a comfort on a winter night, the toiletries were ample, the linens crisp, and towels fluffy. From the scrumptious apple cake to friendly pets to good conversation, we left knowing we'd like to come back to this beautiful setting and welcoming home away from home.

Not a thing. It was exactly as described and our hostess thought of every detail to make our too short stay perfect.
