Holiday Inn Newport News - Hampton, an IHG Hotel

The hotel's location and our floor overall were quiet. Located near the elevators, we barely heard people talking loudly at all. Very peaceful at night. Ed checked us in. Reading the reviews, he was mentioned often. It was my pleasure to have him as our desk hospitality personnel. Ed was very professional, patient, and efficient. Staff greeted us as we left and when we returned to the hotel despite the time of the day or night. I especially want to mention the female with pretty pink nails (didn't get her name) who went above and beyond that bought fresh clean washed, right out of the dryer, warm, towels and washcloths straight to our room before we had to leave for our event. Thank you!

The use of the microwave and small refrigerator. The plate wouldn't stay in place when it was on. The refrigerator barely kept our bottles of water chilled. So, keeping our leftover food had to be trashed. The chance of eating spoiled food was a huge fear to me. No manual temperature dial was found. Parking. Handicap parking. There are no signs posted where to walk to avoid the steep hill of steps or lights along the walkway by the steps outside on the slope/hill.

Breakfast we had one waiter he was very very polite took special care of my family even until the last day … will look for him on our next stay…

When approach by the young lady waitress she seem annoyed when she spoke to me … I only ask her was she our waitress.. she replied to me not in a friendly courteous way to hold on she will be with me which I understand but is how she said it.. again I approached her she used the commit WHAT IS THE PROBLEM I never said there was a problem… she was assuming again. As stated the gentleman who waited in my family who book a wedding and reception at the hotel took very good care in politeness of our guess for the reception held there over 250 people… Will come back and refer our friends and family Dates we attended March 17-19

Holiday Inn Hotel was a great place to stay. This property was very clean and spacious and beautiful, the rooms were also clean, spacious, and we loved the lighting in the room and the decor of the room and the hotel. Holiday Inn Hotel was a excellent place to stay! We had to pay for breakfast but a discount was given which the reception area helped us out the night before which was a plus. The breakfast was excellent! We loved the time for Check out also. This hotel is well worth the stay and the price was very reasonable! We would refer this place to others and stay again if we visit New Port News area again.

The restaurant was DELICIOUS breakfast and dinner, the pool was a clean and big and also a great temperature I loved that it wasn’t super cold, the room size and Ms.Trainee the front desk associate was awesome while checking me in we ran into a little issue but she handled it so well I couldn’t even get upset thanks Trainee!

Always having to call for towels for the pool one time we called and it took over an hour and 2 phone calls for them to bring some and one day I asked the male maid for 2 towels he sucked his teeth blew his breath and gave me the towels but said I was supposed to call the front desk and when I replied I’m sorry but thank you so much he said nothing and walked away. Other than that the other staff members were so sweet and helpful

The room was excellent as well as the shower!! A clean bed, a clean bathroom, and just a clean room. We were also traveling with the family pet. It was spacious enough for him to run around and not feel like he's right over top of us. And It help tired himself out!! I need to know where they got their pillows from because a girl was knocked out in minutes. Lol 😂

Well Saturday night (July 16th) while out walking our dog, there was a family/group that was just loud for no reason. They set up their party in the parking lot right by the pet area. They said the hotel staff told them they were being too loud that's why they were out there and it was obvious. I know a couple of the adults had a little bit more than energy in them, but having random people yelling repeatedly "can I pet your dog? " and trying to pet your dog when it's 12something at night is unnecessary. Others probably paid more for their rooms and the comfortability , so I feel like if they wanted that atmosphere they should have booked a hotel to accommodate it.

cleanliness and comfortable bed

the burger restaurant, the employees were not friendly. we sat at the bar , no one greeted us , we continued to wait for about 4 minutes. They just ignored us until we got there attention . (They were just standing caring on a conversation and completely ignored us.) We just got the vibe that the bartender was reluctant to sever us, we proceeded to order drinks and food. I talked to a manager at the front desk he just brushed it off as nothing., another employee talked to the bartender. We really enjoyed our meal even though the start was a little rocky.

My family enjoyed the stay and we loved the location. The heated pool was clean and awesome!! We loved that you accept pets and the property was very nice! However, we would have preferred a buffet style breakfast to eat and run. I would highly recommend offering breakfast vouchers to each person that stays in the room instead of just offering 2 vouchers. Breakfast can get costly and a typical family of 4 is forced to purchase breakfast entrees that are approx. 15 dollars additionally per person which adds up quick when staying several days. We did eat breakfast in the Burger Theory restaurant once but we were the only ones there and the coffee was very watery. Just giving some feedback that others might be thinking!

After a long drive I was happy to see there was a restaurant in the hotel. The restaurant exceeded my expectations with friendly and welcoming staff and great food and drinks. I look forward to another visit.

The room was beautiful, but the carpet was rather old and it was apparent that the minimum cleaning was done to prepare the room. Water marks and stains on fixtures, the box spring cover wasn’t fully covering the box spring. Otherwise, the room was comfortable with plenty of natural light.

The staff here were extremely helpful and polite. I am unfamiliar with the area and the front desk clerks told me about several events that were happening locally and even gave me directions on how to get to them. My room was extremely clean and the bed was beyond comfortable. I ended up extending my stay because I enjoyed this hotel that much. If you stay here the restaurant on the 1st floor is called Burger Theory. They have awesome drinks and the food was great.

The property was very clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

We were in a no smoking room yet. When we returned to our room there was a strong odor of smoke in the bathroom. When I contacted the front desk they offered to switch rooms. Not sure why I would need to be inconvenienced with switching rooms instead of them conducting a search to find out where the smoke was coming from and ask the person breaking the rules to leave.
