Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn & Suites

The breakfasts are outstanding! You won't leave hungry! The pet friendliness exceeded our expectations. We were even permitted to bring our dogs onto the private, secluded beach behind the hotel which was a pleasant surprise, we thought they'd be unwelcome until after 5 pm like most beaches. They give you free use of beach chairs and umbrellas too. Really loved the beach, very calm. Would be a terrible beach for a surfer, but was excellent for a family traveling with a baby, dogs, and a pregnant mom, those calm waters were ideal for us.

The only bathroom in our unit could only be accessed through the "master" bedroom. There was a mini kitchen but it came with no dishes or utensils, you had to go fetch those in the lobby, but there were also no cabinets in which to place things in our kitchen.

I got a Two Queen sweet and it was the best room for the beach. The beds were separated by rooms so myself and my friend had personal space. The hotel text me letting me know my room was ready, followed up with me to make sure everything was good and so I had open communication with the hotel. The view was amazing. The employees were so friendly and went above and beyond. I had no issues with my service animal, especially because the hotel is pet friendly anyway. This was a great price for being right on the beach. It is close to VA Beach, but is more local so not over crowded and more tranquil. I would highly recommend.

location, right on the beach. front desk girl was super sweet. was very helpful with having my dog and where we can walk her. breakfast everyday. room has a small kitchen super cute. there is a gym. Good size room. beds are not too bad. they are not super expensive mattress that are like sleeping on clouds, but they aren’t super bad either. and I have stayed on some awful mattress in hotels on my travels.

other guests were drink and fighting. there was a guy asking for money on the hotel property heading towards the beach, but the front desk girl did call the police. although having a little kitchen is wonderful, you need to bring everything you would need to cook or eat. nothing offered or in the room and nothing was listed saying other wise. some plastic forks and spoons would be nice and maybe even some napkins. but at least knowing you need to bring everything,,, is at least a little helpful for the next person. the rooms are not perfect, but we were super happy with our stay.

Location right on the beach

Neighbors not getting quiet until very late, no staff to help with getting them to quiet down. Staff Was Not friendly in my opinion, but it could have been a bad day, one time deal.

Loved the room, the SF was great. Plenty of parking so did not have to worry about getting a parking space. Loved my beach and ocean view.

The front desk staff could have been more helpful/accommodating. When I went to front desk to ask for more needed towels, I was initially told to bring my used towels to the front desk before I could get more. I refused to walk back to my room to retrieve dirty towels to the front office. She did give me more clean towels without me bringing used towels to the office. The maid had sent me to the front desk to get more towels anyway. I felt like I was getting the runaround.

We visited Norfolk to see the Winterfest at USS Wisconsin and found this hotel that offered great price with access to the beach. We stayed for a night and we couldn't ask for better weather (temperature was around 65-75 AFTER Christmas). We could see the beach from our room, we even saw a pod of dolphins in the morning. The room itself was great and clean! The bathroom was spotless. We got a room with 2 double beds with kitchen (would be useful if we stayed longer, especially with kids). Breakfast was also very nice (the lady was super friendly). No complain at all. This hotel will definitely be my go-to hotel in Norfolk. PS: if you are thinking to visit USS Wisconsin, this hotel is a little far (25 mins?). we wanted to stay around the beach, so it was great.

If I have to complain, the AC/heater was a little old and noisy, but it was functional so this is not really a complain😄 also the toilet flush was a little loud, but again, functional and clean

Tabitha in the office was amazing and on our every need. She handled many things and multiple people at once without hesitation. We come here to relax with family from out of town and love the big suites and allowing dogs. We also come and stay when my littlest one has to go to CHKD. He is special needs and Tabitha ALWAYS makes sure he is ok, comfortable, and taken care of. I love that! She has even offered to carry stuff for me up the steps while I carry my boy when the elevator was broken. We love the location and being right on the beach for fun in the sun! We will definitely return!

this was a clean, comfortable, very pet, friendly hotel at an affordable price in a convenient location. I was super impressed with the value for money. I stay in a wide range of accommodations, including up to five stars, and the student, my knees perfectly. I traveled with a pet and a partner. The pet had great fenced in areas as well as we all had access to the beach. I came in winter, so cannot comment on the pool. I would very definitely stay here again. Also, the breakfast was solid / adequate with hot and cold items, and you will not leave feeling you need to go to a restaurant.

The only suggestion I would make is that they should add another wastebasket to the two room suite. I kept moving the waste basket from one room to the other.

location and price

The pool handicap chair did not work. Was told it needed a battery. After searching many other hotels, this was the one with a picture of the pool and chair I thought would be great. The breakfast room was not mobile wheelchair accessible. It had a step and could not get in. When these issues were addressed with front desk, the lady acted like she didn’t know there was a pool lift and just looked at me when I mentioned the breakfast room. The floor was sandy and dirty.

The location is top notch, quiet neighborhood, and E X C E L L E N T access to the beach. The patio out back is a great place to spend some time in the early evening in the ocean breezes. There is a pool but when I go swimming, I was in the ocean water.

The breakfast foods were very bland and the sausage gravy needed serious improvement. Coffee was good and the option to get a seat/table outside is a good alternative.
