Residence Inn by Marriott Washington Downtown/Convention Center

Good location. 10-30 minute walk to lots of restaurants, shopping and national mall. Clean, updated/modern facilities. 4 family members traveling - 1 studio, 1 bedroom suite. Good amount of space, with VERY comfortable beds and sleeper couch, kitchenette with modern appliances. Helpful, friendly staff. Nice lobby, with a lounge and fireplace (room key required to enter - which is a plus), nice rooftop area for drinks/appetizers (just needs to stay open past 10 pm on weekends). Great coffee!

The breakfast was really bad! I mean - inedible bad...! The boiled eggs were rubbery; waffles (frozen variety) that were wilted, spongy and chewy; biscuits mealy, pasty & crumbly...the oatmeal was lukewarm. We ended up having coffee, bananas and oranges for breakfast. The next day we dined out! When we first arrived, there were no extra linens left in room for sleeper couch (call to front desk remedied this quickly). Sleeper couch not very comfortable, but we made it work. Need instructions left in plain site for online checkout & wifi. Water pressure not great, but good sized stand alone shower. Biggest issue was the breakfast. They MUST fix this!!

Location, very nice, updated, modern looking facility, staff very nice and helpful. Did not have bedding in room for sleeper sofa (easily remedied by staff). Suite was nicely appointed. Large and updated bathroom. Bed slept very comfortably. Had drinks on rooftop (wish they stayed open later).

Complimentary breakfast was absolutely inedible. The only thing we could eat was fruit and we did enjoy the coffee. This was unfortunate since we did not build in the extra time to go elsewhere for breakfast, so we were left hungry until a late lunch...

Our son and his school band marched in the Independence Day parade so we decided to stay in DC and enjoy the sites. The check in staff were GREAT. They were very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. The breakfast was hot and fresh but a little slow to refill . The number of guesses on the 4th of July made it crazy. The room was very clean and the bed was wonderful. I liked that the staff recognized us and knew our name.

I didn't like that I had to have and use my room key EVERY TIME I got in the elevator. There was an issue with our drinks one night, but the manager came and talked with us and the issue was cleared up.

The location, the room size and amenities.

We booked 2 large studios and only one was available when we arrived, late at night. We had to wait a lot for the reception to be able to figure out what happened and chech in the second room. Moreover, the sofa was not prepared for the 3rd adult and, after my request at the reception, I was handed over a pillow, a towel and bedsheets at the reception, had to carry them to the room and make the bed myself. What kind of customer service is this??!! Moreover, they preauthorised 1700 USD on my debit card at check-in and, even if I paid with a different card at check-out, they have still not released the preauthorised amount, not even after 10 days. They also do not reply to emails whatsoever.

I liked the room! It was comfortable. Everything was of good quality and functional. A lot of space for a large family. I like the rooftop but it was closed when we wanted to visit. The gym is very nice. The breakfast buffet was good too and the staff at the buffet was excellent. The location was good.

The reception staff was unaware of anything. They had no answers for anything and when the manager came to the rescue, and all was solved, they had these "little" remarks at the end, to make it all seem like a client's problem. No one other than the manager had any idea of anything: Upon arriving the receptionist could not find our reservation. She blamed it on us, and we were offered to make a new reservation (since we were 5 it was impossible, no rooms were available). The manager came to the rescue (unopinionated because the clerk did not ask for help) and found our reservation, clearing the whole issue within a few minutes. Once we had the keys to our room, and the manager was gone, the clerk ended the attendance by saying "Now you know, you should not book with booking anymore".

The location was a bit quiet for our taste and after 7 nights in New York and a bit far from some attractions. But it is a hotel worthy of 4 stars, with spacious, clean rooms.

From my point of view, as a European, used to a rich breakfast, here it is not like that at all as I noticed that it is almost in the whole area visited (Boston, Niagara, New York). There is a complete lack of vegetables, fruit only some slightly plasticized apples, although I found very tasty fruit on the market; before the closing time of breakfast there is no refueling, practically those who come at the end choose what is left on the tables, no coffee or juice. Although they had a very good jam in a bowl, it was a very small bowl for so many people.

The room was super ok, with all comodities, very clean, each day. We most apreciated the kitchen.

The breakfest. We had to expect 10 min for a table, we understood that it was a busy period. But the thing that was a really minus was that the food was not enough for all guests and when finished the omlet, philadelphia, yogurt, cookies, bread it took the personnel lots of time until refill. Also the doors were closed at 9:30 eventough the time comunicated for breakfest was 7-10 am.

Fabulous location - comfortable walking distance to the national mall and the major museums. Shops etc also close by Clean and modern hotel - rooms, lobby, lifts etc were in great condition. Small shop on site. Also - a laundry on site, so you can stay a while and cheaply/conveniently do your washing. Restaurant on site - due to Covid concerns, did not use it but it seemed nice and popular with (braver) travelers:) Staff were helpful and professional. Wifi was good. TV offerings were great (free access to Showtime and - I think - HBO) Small kitchen made it very convenient for longish stays. Small thing - but they had a computer with wifi access in the lobby that was connected to a printer (was able to print up my train ticket and my negative PCR result without an hassle - or charge).

Nothing really - the AC/Heater was a little loud at times. It would be quiet for a while and then ramp up in volume. May annoy some light sleepers. Was not really a problem for me. The sofa in the living area could do with a steam clean. If I return to DC, I'd definitely use this hotel again.
