Holiday Inn Express - Washington DC Downtown, an IHG Hotel

clean, nice food at breakfast, fridge microwave coffeemaker all good

Guy at desk yelled at me on the phone when I rang to ask about parking, was pretty unpleasant when I was asking if the $ 49 was for a whole day or if there was an hourly rate... name was Ritchie, all other staff were lovely. Didn't like cardb0ard plates etc.... we are from the UK... this is what you would get in the cheapest of hotels... plus all the waste from not using proper plates...yuk When I checked out I saw I'd been charged for parking every day when we had only parked a car for 8 hours out of the 3 days... when I questioned this the receptionist girl said... oh I always do that.... lucky I noticed... that left a sour tone

Breakfast was good and tasty, try to go earlier otherwise there can be bigger lines later in the morning. Hotel is located at the walking distance from the Capitol and Supreme Court. There are stores and places to eat nearby as well. We travelled for work and everything was fine really. Staff were super helpful and very professional.

Nothing to complain, but a minor remark, as I was travelling for work, the ironing board could have been bigger and more comfortable to use, and the Iron itself had some stain on it, which I saw a bit late, but it did not ruin the shirt, so everything fine in the end.

Very clean hotel, in a nice area. The front desk staff were really helpful and nice. We needed additional sheets and blankets for pullout couch. With a simple phone call to front desk, they had sheets delivered very quickly. Great service!

Beware the fellow tending the breakfast area. He was very mean to people just trying to get some food. He yelled at my son for not using tongs to remove his toast from the toaster - this was completely unnecessary. I then observed him express similar behavior towards other guests. It was a very bizarre experience...part of me thought this must be some elaborate joke (Seinfeld Soup Nazi episode came to mind). In hindsight, it has definitely made for a funny story about our trip. Other than that, the hotel was great, and other staff were great.

Very quiet room! This was the first hotel stay I've had in ages, even in very nicely updated places, where the kicking on and shutting off of the AC wasn't loud and clunky. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was awesome. The location was very good--close enough to walk to things but removed enough that it was quiet. The room was modern and very clean as well. Breakfast was also very good. We also greatly appreciated the valet parking! We've had lots of hassles parking in DC before but this was a breeze.

The bathroom could use a soap dish and a hand mirror, but that's about it. It was a very nice stay overall.

The breakfast was a great added bonus. It was so convenient to be able to get a full hot breakfast before heading out for a busy day. Also, we liked that we had in and out privileges with valet parking during our stay.

The valet parking was not marked and there was no unloading zone on the street. The parking is on 4th street and there is no sign to let you know exactly where the valet parking is located. We had to find a place to park on this busy street, walk around to the front of the building and go to the front desk to ask for the valet.

The room was great. Location was decent if you are walking to the National Mall area. It is about a 18 minute walk if you are walking fast, so be prepared for that. The price was great and it worked for our family.

Breakfast was good if you made it down right when it opens, if you wait until closer to 9 am there will not be much left. They were slow to replenish it. Lines get very long for breakfast also, so plan to get there early.

The location was great, near most attractions and within walking distance from the convention center. Breakfast had a good spread. Round-the-clock water and coffee are available.

Some days even bread was not available at breakfast. Very few vegetarian options. The lift stopped functioning for a day and ended up lifting heavy luggage up the stairs.

The location was awesome and we walked almost everywhere. There are awesome breakfast places nearby if the hotel breakfast line is too long. The hotel was VERY clean, had no smells, was quiet and a had real mix of clientele. I will stay there again.

The personnel at the front desk were a little unfriendly and the breakfast staff was mean. The cleaning staff, on the other hand, was very friendly.

I enjoyed the breakfast selection and the staff was so, so nice and kind. The staff assisted in every way to make my experience great. I can't wait to be back at this hotel again!

I only that I didn't like was that out of the 3 elevators there, only 1 of the elevators work and it took quite a while to wait for the elevator. But nonetheless, I overlooked the situation and kept a positive attitude to enjoy my experience there. Phenomenal experience!!!

The staff was very friendly upon our arrival and whenever we had questions. The breakfast had a nice variety of quality foods. Everything was clean and comfortable.

We needed extra towels since our family of 5 was staying in one room. I called to have some extra towels send up, but they never came. When I asked the next morning, I was told they were out of towels until the next day. We never did get 5 towels...
