From the friendly greeting at reception, to the complimentary room upgrade; super fast room service and exceptional food, this was a hugely unexpected luxury, boutique stopover en-route between the Blue Mts and Brisbane. Special mention also has to be made for Claire on reception, who went above & beyond to reunite me with my glasses that I’d inadvertently left in the room.

Sadly I wasn’t able to get the coffee machine in my room to work, but put that down to user error. Breakfast service was also a little lacking, but suspect that was due to a large group staying at the hotel who had all ordered hot breakfasts at the same time. The mini-pastries available for the complimentary breakfast were straight out of a French patisserie, served warm and more than made up for the lack of service :)

the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and the room temperature was consistently comfortable. The staff were excellent- very friendly warm and professional from the check in to cleaning to breakfast and dinner. of course the renovations and art deco period is top notch and a lot of attention to detail. the desk in the lounge area was lovely to work in and wifi was good

nothing open on Monday- the hotel did provide a helpful list of things in town that were open on Monday and there is an appointed after hours staff member to help with issues who came promptly to help us with a new tv remote. the sitting room is lovely and so is the sun room but maybe a day bed or two in the sun room would be good and I’d have loved access to the top balcony which is open to the st air or another guest lounge upstairs instead of a conference room (which is not a criticism just my preference as a non business traveller) .

We had a fantastic dinner that was excellent food. The wine had limited choice and we felt it was somewhat expensive. But the overall experience was very good. Loved the retro feel of the hotel - it felt quite grand staying there. The staff in the restaurant were excellent - fantastic service that made our meal experience even more special.

The breakfast was a little disappointing but it was Good Friday, so it is a challenging day to provide service. The room was a bit small but loved the decor and it was well laid out. We also had difficulty locating Tattersalls and the GPS got quite confused. Suggest you highlight this at the time of booking particularly for people self driving.

The included breakfast was very nice. Told continental but also had a little bit of hot (bacon, hash brown and tomato & mushroom mix). Don’t know if this was a weekend inclusion. Very good coffee provided but if you wanted barista coffee they would make it for you and charge it to your room.

Dinner Saturday night in the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff seemed quite frazzled. They were friendly at the beginning but then we seemed a bit forgotten. Meals came and were cleared but there was no chance or offer of ordering another glass of wine.

Fantastic location and beautiful hotel. We ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious. The style of the rooms and attention to detail was first class; it had a very luxe feel.

The breakfast option didn't feel aligned with the upmarket style of the rest of the hotel; I would rather have the option to pay and have more options at the breakfast buffet. The first morning of our stay I think the hotel was short staffed but the breakfast selection was very poor.

With a really nice refurbishment, while retaining the art deco heritage, this was an unexpectedly good stay. Obviously everything is new and fresh, which is great. Room not large but more than adequate and there is a guest lounge as well as the various bar areas. And modern bathroom is nice. Plus its right in the centre of town with parking at the rear. We ate at the restaurant both nights, and it was very good, with a nice selection of wines by the glass.

What a beautiful hotel, full of stylish art deco period features. The sunroom and cosy living room and fireplace for guests. The restaurant looked lovely for dinner and had a beautiful breakfast, although closes early and there is no room service option either.

There is no room service option and the restaurant closes very early. Thank goodness for delivery services that saved me and got me dinner, for my late arrival. You should warn guests arriving late there is no room service as a woman traveling alone does not want to go out late in a strange town on her own

First night we stayed in the disabled access room. There are several problems with that room : the sheer curtains do not block out the light that shines all night on the sun verandah; there are no shelves or anything to put your bags, clothes or washbags on so one has to keep everything in suitcase on floor. It's hard to use a bathroom comfortable when there is nowhere to put things. The windows of the room face onto the sundeck which is used by guests so there is no sound privacy in the room. We were trying to rest and a drinks party was going on loudly directly outside our windows.

We had the Governors Suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The Artdeco interiors are magnificent and very luxurious. Lucy on reception was very friendly and helpful.

It was very hard to find as it doesn’t have a street presence as it’s on a mall. There was no parking left in the small car park. And we had to park in a council car park. The complimentary continental breakfast did not have any fruit, even a bowl of apples would be nice.

The bed.. oh my goodness can I come back - the comfiest and the most amazing bed ever. AND I was sharing my bed. The bathrooms are fabulous, large and roomy. (we couldn't find an exhaust fan but hey...) Soft and lovely bath robes and each room had somewhere to sit that wasn't the bed!

The breakfast on the first morning was Ahmazing and so so good. On the second day it was not as good - the waiter missed our request for sour dough bread and forgot the hash browns. I told him I was not paying for them as they were still frozen when served to us... he didn't take them off the bill or communicate with a colleague so the last in our group was left to pay for them... which is WRONG. Just a matter of listening and communicating within your team - not heard!
