Initial room was a converted broom cupboard and considering I’d booked 13 nights and had to then ask for to be relocated then that was disappointing ! Once moved after two night the new room was much better. Lovely cafe just up road ‘la Bombay’ is great for breakfast and this should be highlighted upon arrival. Reception were very helpful and reacted efficiently with my room change.

Pokey broom cubboard for first room ….this was worse than a prison cell!! Cleaning was average at best in room and bed could have been made more often

I have stayed once before, and it is a location where I always stay when I come to Sydney. It is gorgeous building, and a bit quirky which I really like (the stairs connecting rooms to hallways, lift etc . Rooms have sufficient room and the beds are super comfortable.

room was not ready when I arrived early but not a problem as I knew checkout was after 2pm so was able to leave bags and head off on intended visits to NSW art gallery and trip via ferry to Balmoral. when I returned after 4 there was initial confusion with which room I had been allocated and when I attempted to watch channel 7 (AFL game) there were no 7 channels; I was able to reprogram the settings but a bit disappointing when I contacted front desk that there were at a loss as to what to do eg there was no expert available to attend to this minor issue...amazed myself as I am NOT tech head that I was able to remedy the situation!! I was not given an option to have the room serviced on daily basis but fresh towels were left on second day.

I loved the location in Potts Point. So close to Sydney CBD. You can get train from Kings Cross. I used Uber. A stones throw from so many fabulous cafes and restaurants; also a Woolworths around the corner in MacLeay St. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Bed so very comfortable and plenty of pillows. Room serviced second daily but told I could ask for extra towels at any time. Large room. Such a delightful scent permeates entrance area…..nice little sweet treat placed on bed upon arrival.

Wished there was a shelf under sink for your toiletries. Only small shelf above sink. Also small hanging area for four coat hangers. It is an open cupboard system, no drawers. In the scheme of things I loved everything else about Challis and will be back!

We chose the Challis Hotel for its location and we found it even more convenient than expected. The Potts Point neighborhood is quietly charming, with excellent coffee shops and restaurants, Challis Street ends exactly at the top of the stairs down to Woolloomooloo wharf, so it's a quick walk to the National Gallery, the Botanic Gardens, the Domain, etc. and then just another fifteen afoot to the Opera House. The hotel itself is quaint and extremely clean. Our room was small ... Let's say "Paris Hotel" size! But the price was good for a CITY! And Sydney is a real city, in the ranks of New York or Berlin.

Well, gosh, our room was indeed small and the bathroom likewise. But who spends much time in the room anyway?

Lovely location. Old colonial style building. Clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. Nice linen and towels. Fridge. Air con. Shower. Toiletries. Tea and coffee. Lovely lounge area with coffee each day. Great view of city from the room. Easy walk into the city through Botanical Gardens. Good cafes near by. Staff all very helpful.

Rooms small but expected this. No storage for clothes except hangers on an open rail. Excellent for a few days but a bit more challenging for a longer stay. ................................................................

The location is excellent, and the hotel building and inside decor are both absolutely beautiful. The street where the hotel is located is lovely as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable. It was on the small side, but it was exactly what I needed for a short stay. I especially enjoyed having my cup of tea on the hotel street balcony, before embarking on my day.

The room did not have some small amenities that would usually be available - such as a spare toothbrush, or a shower cap. But these are such minor things, and other than that, it was great.

The team at the hotel was amazing, polite, helpful and welcoming. Cute boutique hotel on a great location to explore and get around Sydney. Room was clean and tidy. Would definitely stay here again!

Only negative was the room size.

great location, lovely little common patio out the front to sit and have a drink or read a book , comfy beds and a great lobby sitting room to relax in and refresh.

Reception is 8 am to 8 pm but the after hours service was easy when i had to use it during the stay. I would suggest for a business traveller they might consider slightly longer hours on reception. Also this time the booking wasn’t easily found by reception - so when you are dropping bags before meetings it would be good to make this smoother as there is no bay for taxis to wait.

I was surprised the room had two opening windows and an uninterrupted view of the city which was delightful. The location in Potts Point is unbeatable - surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, an easy walk to the botanical gardens. The bed was very comfortable. Aesthetically, the room had a lovely feel with the sheer curtains and green and white theme. Simple but elegant. The facade of the building is beautiful with the balcony and tiled floors.

The bathroom is very small which is okay for the price. There is no room apart from the sink to place toiletries. Although comfortable it is a basic room. It could have done with more hanging space or somewhere up off the ground to place a bag. The main disappointment was the house keeping which we were told was every second day which was fine but this consisted of leaving some fresh towels on the bed. I was hoping for a little more like a quick vacuum and the replacement of our used coffee cups.

Excellently priced, comfortable rooms, very quiet for being in Kings Cross. Walking distance to train station, Sydney CBD and Potts Point. Rooms slightly small but bearable but, there's breakout spaces for working and lots of complimentary snacks. Staff are excellent and always so pleasant to deal with

The room is slightly small for two people, and the fan in the bathroom was painfully loud! The air-con remote didn't work, but that wasn't too big a deal as the building is well insulated. Parking can be challenging if you're driving but you'll manage to work it out!
