Lovely hotel in Battery Point, near good coffee (Kombi), a venerable pub (Shipwright's) and a great baker (Jackman). The views of the river and hills from room #7 were fantastic. The room was spacious. There's no bathtub in this room; shower had good water pressure and very hot water. There's a fridge, kettle, Nespresso, sink, and microwave in the room, and you're near the very lovely kitchen which offered lots of breakfast supplies and afternoon snacks. The location is an easy 12-minute walk to Salamanca Market. I chose this location and lodging for the quiet and found that they were indeed very quiet. No noise at all from the street; sound does travel a bit from one room to the next but that was not at all an issue -- I'm highly noise sensitive and found the room very tranquil. I had to store my luggage for a few hours after checking out and the managers were very helpful with that even though they are not on site.

Love everything about this boutique stay. The location is quiet but accessible and walkable to everything that is interesting in Hobart; the views are spectacular; the design and furnishing are appropriate for the heritage house without being overly fussy; the breakfast is excellent as is the dining area with a knock out view. Most rooms have spectacular sea views. The public spaces are inviting and cosy and the bedrooms are a perfect size. I like that one is left to ones own devices and the home baked cakes and pastries are terrific. Pretty newly landscaped garden. Wouldnt stay anywhere else in Hobart.

The over powering potpourri scent in the common areas.

Amazing views combined with thoughtful amenities, beautifully decorated bedrooms and shared spaces, with comfortable furniture and gorgeous artwork and interesting books. Having a full kitchen available 24/7 is awesome, plus the continental breakfast that catered for gluten and lactose dietary requirements served in sustainable reusable containers was so responsible, even the coffee pods were compostable! Having a kitchenette in the room was an added bonus. And the cakes and biscuits were incredibly delicious. Loved staying here, would definitely recommend. Perfect for an escape from the kids!

Not hotel's fault but a guest used knife for butter and then stuck in one of the jam jars! But maybe hotel could put a sign up asking people to use a clean knife for each condiment. There is a dishwasher and heaps of knives so using multiple knives would be easy for guests to do. I was surprised an adult would do this, even my kids know about food contamination.

We particularly loved the spectacular view from our room and that Grande Vue was so close to the city. Battery Point itself, the part of Hobart where Grand Vue is located, is a beautiful area with historic houses, so definitely worth seeing. There was home made cake you could help yourself to in the afternoon and the owner Ash was a lovely and caring person. Parking wasn’t an issue either as it’s possible to get a resident parking permit.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about and I would stay there again anytime. It was even the best accommodation we had during our 4-week-vacation in Australia.

A superb location in quiet residential neighbourhood with many old houses, but 5 minutes walk to the Salamanca dock area with it's bars restaurants and galleries. The hotel was beautifully decorated, comfortable but most notable was the super attentive considerate host. Ash made sure we had everything we needed in the well appointed kitchen, loaned us a BBQ for Christmas Day and have us touring suggestions. An amazing hotel which makes normal hotels boring and disappointing.

We didn't use the spa bath, not our thing.

What a fabulous place to stay! We loved everything! Our bedroom with the comfortable bed, rain shower in the bathroom, the two lounges furnished with beautiful period furniture, and amazing decor, the kitchen facilities and breakfast choices, the view from the dining area. Such comfort and style! We spent a rainy day in the lounge and had a lovely afternoon. And can I mention the daily fresh cakes that awaited us! What a treat! Loved being in the middle of Battery Point, with walks to the Salamanca Market and bakery and eateries close by. Great location.

Everything was excellent!

Such a gorgeous find, I’m so glad we decided to stay here. Location is perfect, easily walkable to city, wharf, and Salamanca Place. Battery Point is a stunning and tranquil location, and Grand Vue is just exemplary of all those things. Ash and the team are fantastic, the rooms and common areas are absolutely spotless at all times you can tell how much love, care and attention to detail goes into everything they do.

The stunning views, immaculate cleanliness, prime location, the hosts Ash & Brock were so accommodating, knowledgeable & exceptional at making you feel at home. The breakfasts and delicious afternoon treats. It is situated right near Hampden Road, with an assortment of fantastic food options. Just a block away is the Shipwrights Arm, a wonderful old charming pub, excellent food & service.

Loved the ambience. The whole stay was an experience on its own. It felt like a scene out of beauty and the beast. Breathtaking sunrise view. The staff was very approachable and friendly. Our rooms were tidied very quickly yet thoroughly every day. The pantry was great as well. The whole stay was really pretty.

Bathroom lightning could be a bit more well lit but it was still ok.

The private hotel is everything it promises: quiet, luxurious, carefully designed and serviced. The communal breakfast kitchen was next-level as everything was lovingly prepared in individual portions and everything was plentifully provided. There's even fresh cake in the afternoon. The room had an amazing view and the area is historic and full of character.
