Crest on Barkly Hotel

I needed to book a room for six nights at short notice, while the Australian Open was on and The Crest appeared to be the best value for money to meet my needs. I was very pleased with the accommodation/facilities/comfort/and assistance from staff. Hotel is very close to buses/trams/eating places. The bed was great! The outside cafe, downstairs but part of The Crest was great - consistently best poached eggs I've ever had (so good I had then for five days!!). Some elements of The Crest are a bit dated, being an older hotel, however, that is easily overlooked given the reasonable pricing. I would stay again.

Lovely staff and a nice little coffee shop/bottle shop underneath. Very comfortable beds and pillows.

Rooms are a bit tired and need an update. Very difficult to close the window and as there was no screen, little flies came in. Tiny bathroom. Scratch on the tv screen. Very narrow corridors and not the best signage. Could use some attention to detail in cleaning, light switches were dirty and lots of dust and dirt behind bedside tables and window sills. Rest of the room was clean.

Ideal location, although the one ATM in the area (7-11) was broken, which meant had a bit of running around to do. If amenities in the area continue to dwindle, it may be necessary to provide more options in the hotel itself

When not using the bed to sleep, the matresses split apart and my poor companion kept getting stuck in a grand canyon - surely there is some way to make sure the mattresses stay in combined formation?

Location was great, perfect for travelling taxi and ride share easily can pick up from this location and know where it is and if travelling on a budget like we were the tram stop was close and tram routes from this stop were simpler than most other places we have been especially when entering city we had no transfers. On top of being a well priced place to stay.

amazing staff, so helpful and friendly. I stayed at the hotel for around a month whilst trying to find permanent accommodation, staff were so helpful - nothing was ever too much of an ask and they were always willing to help me and answer any questions I had. they made me feel so welcome!

nothing - it’s an incredible hotel

Booked an apartment. Wasn’t expecting so much space! It was in the older building next door to the hotel but the apartment was clean, well thought out, with a new bathroom. Perfect location for the Grand Prix and public transport in to Melbourne city. Very quiet too! Parking either under the hotel or on the grounds of the apartment building.

A few more glasses would have been nice, and a dishwasher.

Good sized comfortable but older apartment. Parking on site especially with street parking being on a clear way.

older style apartment, fixtures especially blinds looking tired and broken. A lot of road noise due to being on a busy intersection.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable. We also liked how close it was to the tram station which made it easier for us to travel to the city for the Eras tour concert.

The rooms were very clean, including the linen. The location excellent for eating out and accessing the beach. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and provided any assistance we needed.

The bathrooms were a bit small and the car parking was ok, but having a larger car made it difficult to fit into some car parks and the car park gets full later in the evening which makes it even harder.

The usual quality Room.

No towels in bathroom at first but fixed promptly when notified. This was my third stay and each time when I have asked for a taxi to be called, it takes a ridiculously long time to arrive. Maybe a new taxi contact needed. 55 minutes this time so cancelled, called different cabs myself and arrived in 7 minutes. ?????Not your fault but a better taxi service might stop the frustration.
