Great location with easy access to teams and busses. Good rooms, we were in a private and the bathroom and room was clean and comfortable. Nice bar downstairs
The kitchen needed updating we felt as it got super busy and was very cramped where the cookers were. There was a long corridor into our room and it could do with some extra items to make the stay perfect such as hooks or a mirror etc.

It was our first time staying at a hostel and summer house is the best one we could have picked. The private room is spacious and the bed is super comfortable. The toilets were very clean and new. The staff were all extremely nice and everyone else that we met were all welcoming. The bar downstairs serves a great pint and its very easy to get into the city from the hostel by tram. The kitchen, although a bit small, was cozy and well cleaned every day. We could borrow an iron and hair dryer from the reception which was really helpful. There is a very cozy TV room and the staff was really helpful and accommodating to us. They definitely made our first hostel experience an extremely pleasant one. Kudos to the team at summer house!

Loveeeed my stay here, stayed long term and if I stayed anywhere else in Melbourne I would always end up coming back. Female dorms are 10/10, literally feels like a hotel with the bathroom 🔥 Tv room is so decent to relax in the evening and they have a shower room for when you first arrive in there! Lots of things going on in the week to take part in in the week during peak season, not really anything at all in autumn-spring though Rooftop is incredible, it’s a super nice space to be productive too. Right next to the beach and loads of bars including nomads hostel for boozey bingo on a Monday! Everyone’s super social and welcoming and it’s nice to be in a hostel where everyone is from all over the world not just a Brit like me lol
Kitchen was 90% of the time disgusting. It’s super small with lots of people trying to cook at the same time and gets super stressful. Housekeepers try SO hard to keep it clean but nobody washes up after themselves and it just gets exhausting. No oven or air fryer either, pretty much just hobs and toastie maker. I was in a few dorms which were pretty messy from the occupants but so was I by the end, staying long term always ends like that.

Rooms were great, lots of space, clean and ensuite bathrooms were a plus! Lots of fun activites and great discounts at the bar downstairs Most of the staff were very pleasant, always greeting and saying hello, making sure everything was going well The location was brilliant! Short walk to beach, cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Trams nearby too and Skybus stop just across the road
The kitchen was a bit of a disaster, no one cleaning their dishes or counters. Did see staff coming in to clean dishes however, but the mess of the counters/stove really put me off. Also was told to label bags of food kept in the kitchen. No one told me to label with departure date so I wrote the date that I put the bag there and one of my bags was thrown out (the other had a warning put on it which is fair), I think clear signs in the kitchen about how to label food would have been beneficial.

Good facility and cheap. The elevator has to be used with your room key. Good security. Old building itself. The facility was maintained well with strict rules. Kitchen was not dirty. I was aware of not being close to city but there is a bus stop in front of House and St Kilda train station is 10 mins walk distance so I got myki card for one day trip and no issues for getting around.
I stayed at Saturday night so I heard people was talking by midnight from outside and inside and some roommates backed late midnight and made a pretty much noise unfortunately…

The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The facilities were great and the bathrooms were pretty clean. It’s a fantastic location and easy to get to restaurants, the beach and trams to the city. Also Free pancake Sundays, and BBQ on Mondays.
Not many people actually respect the rules there and I wish the staff took it a bit more seriously. I feel they were a bit light on punishments. Also I think the carpet in the room I stayed in definitely needs a deep clean cause it was always a bit damp and sticky in spots.

Was pleasantly surprised. Booked a private room which was large with a modern bathroom. 20% off food and drinks at the bar was an added bonus.
Having to go to the communal kitchen to make a coffee or tea was a pain, no kettle in the room :( No towel rail or hook to hang up wet towels in the bathroom :( Not being able to use the balcony because of council nonsense, why let them build it in the first place? :( Communal kitchen always a mess, not the hotels fault I may add, backpackers not cleaning up there mess was the problem, I chose to not use anything other than the kettle.

Having the bar downstairs was fun. It was a colourful crowd, great bar staff and good atmosphere. Proximity to the Grand Prix track and MCG was really good. The St Kilda area in general was a nice place to hang out. The staff were really friendly. The food from the kitchen was really good.
A few more hooks to hang towels in the bathroom would have been helpful, plus a few more places to hang clothes in the room. More powerpoints in the room also. The bathroom door lock didn't work.

The hostel was very comfortable, we have a private bed and it was excellent. The room was really big and the hostel itself has a good atmosphere. The bar below cant be heard by the private floors and the showers were great, we got good use out of the tv room when we got there after a flight and slept well from like 10am-2pm!
There was a private event that went on upstairs one night and it was very loud lol, but the reception told us before booking and made it clear so I cant complain, the staff was lovely! There also needs to be more lights in the privates (like a lamp or something, i understand how they can get damaged in a hostel though,) and the kitchen is very tiny for the amount of people! I second seating area close to the kitchen would be handy!

I had a private room and was very surprised with the spaciousness. It had a small bar fridge, space for hanging and storing clothes. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and crockery, it was extremely busy at dinnertime. The laundry was great - huge washers and dryers. Cosy TV room with shelves for bag storage. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I will go back! It is perfect for travellers and great value for money. Not too far to walk to trams, restaurants and supermarkets. Airport Skybus stops unbelievably close.
