The staff is super friendly and nice. And, it is cool that I can use my phone as a key. The location is great near the skyline.

No plugs are around my bed. And, the sheet and pillow smell old.

It is small (about the common area) so it was easy to talk to people. The facility was easy access, well located in the cbd

it was a little bit dirty, but same as some other hostel so if you have the habit to travel in hostel it s ok

Got a super cheap flight that came in late(11PM) and needed only one night in the city. The staff Jackson was amazing. There was a big party downstairs as you would expect with young travellers having a drink on a saturday night. And a bit loud outside CBD Melbs Saturday night which is the norm. If you don't bring earplugs into a dorm hostel, I don't know what to tell you. But my four bed dorm were with 3 young gentlemen who were polite and quiet. Room and bathroom were unbelievably clean for a big dormy hostel.

Can't complain.

The location of the hostel Melbourne City Backpackers is great, you can easily reach all parts of the city center by walk. Also the fact that the rooms had the possibility of being either just male or female added to the comfort.

There a multitude of things that can be improved and add to any travelers feeling more welcome. Firstly, we reserved 5 beds at the same time, however they were not in the same room, which was frustrating, especially as the reservations were made more than a month in advance. Next to that, the receptionist was rather rude and had a temper, which honestly was just annoying. He was wondering how we could even think about having a room together as it’s a hostel and then also showed no signs of flexibility.

That place is very worth staying in. It is not for flashpackers, but for the rest of us it has everything we need, even free tea with milk to put in it. It is very central to the city and around a 5 minute walk from the train and coach station. There is an ALDI supermarket around a 15 minute walk from the hostel. Those seem to be in every town in Australia and are great for helping to stay within the budget.

the place is very well located, free breakfast included! You have the free trams and southern station just 3 min walking. The staff was very friendly and well informed, you can meet other travellers easily in the hangout areas or in the kitchen. Overall I had a great stay to enjoy the city.

the kitchen was small or not well distributed for the amount of guests, it would be nice to get new pans and pots and also needs more fridges and sockets in the rooms.

Nice hostel with a really good location

There were no outlets near all of the beds (especially if you had a top bunk), so you really had to think about when to charge the phone. I did not like the Goki App as a key, because I had to take my phone everywhere (even to the bathroom), so I could get into my room again. So I could not leave my phone (and charge it) in the room when I left it for a moment. A shorter code or an easier one for the rooms would be helpful, so it is possible to remember the code to get into the room.

The location was fantastic and is just infront of southern cross station. Everything starting from kitchen to washroom was all ok and can be adjusted without having any issues.

they should have a lift otherwise carrying luggage to 3rd or 4th floor is just too tiring. Rest kitchen and all should be properly cleaned.

Look I needed a bed for the night last min some one els booked it for me but I have special needs and they did it though a exterior site and I would have called to make sure that I could be catered for, however when the establishment were made aware they made it work, they made everything better than could be expected. The bed was warm and in a darkened room and I slept no kidding for 12 straight hrs! Thanks

Your disabled bathroom shower needs fixing, because it was decent other than that. I also struggled with your code entry system but I don’t know if the guy on fixed that because I only had to put it in once as my dorm room was left ajar. This issue was just my jenky brain having trouble.

Eventhough reception wasn't 24hours, I was still able to checkin after hours with the access codes given to me for front door and for my room. The bathroom was clean the first night and they had all the facilities and amenities as mentioned.

The bathroom was filthy the second night! The person below my bunk was sick and coughing which made me get sick the following day and I still haven't fully recovered. But that's my bad and I should have booked a private room. The fridge was full and I put my food in there in the morning. That evening my food was gone eventhough I had labelled it properly. It was also disappointing that the kitchen wasn't 24hrs.
