Beautifully maintained heritage building. Excellent location walking distance to most or trams and trains at the doorstep. Easy transit to and from airport. Our room was a good size with comfy bed. Fully stocked mini bar and coffee machine a bonus. Loved the buffet breakfast included in our stay each morning in the beautifully appointed dining room. Aside from a couple of less than friendly staff, the stylish bar and restaurant was very convenient. Dined in one night, with our meal surpassing expectations! Beef Cheeks were divine. Our very good fortune and pleasure to be looked after by Gerard. Every hotel, bar or restaurant needs a Gerard!

Perhaps a little short staffed? Service was lacking and hit and miss in reception and The Alexander. Exceptional service from Gerard aside.

Great location, right opposite southern cross station. Savoy is always my first choice for staying in Melbourne. The reception staff, especially Kayla, is so friendly and helped with early check in and storing luggage. The room is well decorated and comfy, and I love the blinds that totally booked all the lights. I had a wonderful sleep at night.

Right after I checked in, the maintenance team knocked on my door when I was taking a nap. I didn’t hear them first, but then they tried a few times to open the door. They couldn’t open it because I locked it from inside. But the lock and door handle made really loud noise. And I have to ask them to stop. I hope that they can communicate better with the reception, knowing which room has already been cleaned.

The location was great to what we were visiting for. It is a bonus the reception are 24hrs a day which helped as we had a late check in on the day of our arrival. The reception saw that I was travelling with my and organsied for us to change rooms to single beds. As we had a late flight home we were given the option of waiting in the foyer instead of roaming around wasting time which was nice to have this offered to us.

The USB Port near the bed didn't work. I bought with me a 3m long cable to I used the far side one. Housekeeping tried to enter our room at 2pm to count the mini bar, however we had organised a 3pm late check out so this shouldn't have been done until after our departure. There weren't many Hot Breakfast options available and, on both mornings, the hot options were exactly the same, a bit of difference would have been good.

What an absolutely fantastic place - classy and historical, like stepping right into an old Hollywood movie. The desk staff were so lovely and interesting, and really went above and beyond to make me smile. We spoke of all sorts of topics - movies, fashion, music... Bradd was especially funny, and has pretty purple hair, and Glenn recommended me some Stanley Kramer movies! In more practical terms, right across the road from Southern Cross Station, where every train, tram, and taxi stops, so getting around was a breeze. The Yarra River is just down to your left, with the Crown Casino, the beautiful memorial gardens, and Melbourne Arts Centre along the bank. The room was great, and breakfast was delicious (had these mouthwatering mini cinnamon rolls I could have eaten forever). My mother and I had such a wonderful time! We'll definitely be back!

Honestly, can't think of a single thing I didn't like

Excellent location, immediately across from Southern Cross station. Staff were super helpful and friendly, and check-in was smooth, and our room was ready even though we arrived early. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choices, hot, cold, fresh fruit, even fresh bread to toast! We chose the hotel mostly for the proximity to Southern Cross, but it's also within the Free Tram Zone, with a stop just around the corner so navigation the city was no hassle.

I honestly have nothing bad to say about the Savoy. I think this is the third time I have stayed here and would absolutely recommend it to others!

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Staff at the front desk were professional and welcoming and very helpful when we had questions. The location was perfect. We could get to everything easily with public transport at the front door and most things within walking distance.

The breakfast was terribly disappointing. The coffee machine was not working properly and when it did the coffee was undrinkable. The head of staff in the dining room seemed to be in a state of confusion continuously. The selection of foods was very limited. We were also told when we arrived on Sunday morning that we needed to have booked for breakfast which we were not informed of. We left and went elsewhere for breakfast.

The location is amazing, opposite Southern Cross Station. The hotel staff were very friendly, I dropped by bag off early & when I checked into my room, it was already there. Despite the location, the room was quiet, very comfortable.

When asked for directions to Victoria Markets, I received mixed responses from various employees. I worked this out, so all good. Also, when I arrived at the Hotel prior to check in time (straight of the XPT from Sydney), there was muted response to my request to check in early. My take is that the employee had worked through the night, so my request was the last they needed.

If you are wanting to be close to Spencer Street travel hub you can't beat this hotel. Stayed before and will stay again. The bed is one of the most comfortable we've stayed in. Leaving your bags while waiting to check in is never a problem. The gentleman there knows his job very well and is always friendly.

As we had to check out prior to breakfast service times I enquired the evening before if there was an alternative option. We were advised a breakfast box would be available to take away in the morning. Slight disconnect when we checked out and asked about the B.Box - instructions on its collection were different from the day before. Left without the breakfast. Unfortunate that was included in the price of the room.

The centrally located hotel meant it was very easy to catch a direct bus to the airport and back, tram stations were super close to get anywhere in CBD, major train station right opposite the property. Conveniently food and convenience stores were a stone away. The reception and concierge staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were cosy, I got very good rest as the bed and pillows were very comfy.

House keeping did forget to clean the room 2 days in a row despite the tag being left on the door requesting cleaning.

Lovely, professional and helpful staff. Prompt, efficient service. Nice choices for breakfast. Room was quiet.

Was unsure what mini bar prices were as they were not listed in the room. Did not utilise this. While complimentary bottle of wine was a thoughtful touch, as I am not a drinker I didn't see it as an added extra. Dispensers for toiletry products required a lot of work and were flimsy - getting enough shampoo and conditioner and soap shouldn't require this much work. Toilet roll holder neededd repair, adjustable lock on showerhead wasn't working well, causing showerhead to slowly descend the rail! Yes, these are small things, but given the price point, I think they are valid to raise.
