The location was convenient and easy to get to from the train station (by bus) or to the grand market square. Room was spacious for a shared space with a few others, beds were comfy and sturdy even for bunk beds. The communal space was large and spacious. The décor was also very medieval and cute! Wi-fi was fast and reliable as well.
There are no enough bathrooms + showers on each floor to accommodate the amount of people in the hostel. The showers on the lowest ground floor were small and not very clean so it wasn't pleasant to use, but the other floors were fine and much bigger. There's no elevators or anything to assist so going up the stairs with luggage was cumbersome. There are also no hooks to hang towels or jackets.

We stayed here for a couple of nights as we were through from Scotland to watch our team Kilmarnock take on Cercle Brugges in the Europa League. The hostel staff were very welcoming and the bedrooms were clean and tidy. We had booked a 4 bedroom dorm with private ensuite bathroom which was perfect for our group. The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk into the main squares, and the hostel also has its own brewery with some amazing beers to try.
We were there in the middle of Summer and the room did get quite hot in the evenings, so perhaps some air conditioning would be good.

The location is great! There’s a kitchen where you can cook and use a fridge, a small terrace on the roof and in the inner yard, very comfortable. It’s rather clean and comfortable. Also there’s a bar if you’d like to have some wine or beer in the evening.
The owners use to sit with drinks at the tables near the entrance of the hostel and if your windows are on this side, be sure, you will listen to loud company till late at night, one time it was till 4am. Also, the bathroom on the second (first) floor didn’t have soap or towel, but the toilet on the first (ground) floor had them. A bit confusing.

Having stayed here before, I knew this was a gem of a place, although that was a few years ago, and prices have risen a bit since then. To be fair, when comparing the price of a private room with other hotels and hostels in Bruges at present, Hostel Lybeer was certainly good value for money. First and foremost, the staff were absolutely superb; accommodating, easy going, and always on hand to chat and help with anything. A special mention to Simon, who was friendly and gracious from the moment I arrived; kudos to his musical tastes and beer recommendations, which made my stay that bit more enjoyable. It's because of people like Simon that I choose to stay in hostels and not large soulless hotels. He is a credit to Lybeer and customer service in general. Finally, the private rooms have been upgraded since I was previously here; mine was spacious, quiet, and featured a nice clean en suite bathroom. Although mine was only a three night stay, I noticed the room was cleaned in that time, with fresh towels provided, without any need to make the request. The location of the hostel is ideal, tucked down a tranquil side street a stone's throw from t' Zand. Meanwhile, the downstairs communal area is stunning, and a great place to relax on your own with a beer, or chat with like minded travellers from all over the world. Coffee is free, and I found the kitchen space to be clean whenever I was in the vicinity. I was also able to attend a beer tasting event one night in the hostel, which I would recommend to anyone. All in all, I can't fault Lybeer, and will definitely return again in the future.

Fantastic for the price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed and pillow were super comfortable. The room was a nice size and we had no sound issues. The bar downstairs was very well priced. The location is a very short distance from the city center. Highly recommended for those on a moderate budget.
The stairs to access the room are incredibly steep, we had no issues with this, but those with mobility issues should be aware.

it’s in a great location while being fairly quiet. the social area/bar is great and it’s an advantage to be able to make your own breakfast and cook. The room we had was small but perfectly comfortable. I think we were as far from reception as we could be but the wifi was strong.
the staircase is fabulous but the climb will not be for everyone (over 60 steps). a simple hook to hang up wet coats would make quite a difference.

The location was excellent. Close to the old town, but far enough to be away from the maddening crowds. The atmosphere at the hostel is very welcoming, and the staff were professional and helpful.
The hostel was very well maintained, except for the worn carpeting on the stairs. That presents not only a safety hazard on the rather steep climb, but it takes away from the charm of this lovely hostel.

Great common spaces with amazing hostel volunteers, free coffee and tea, welcoming environment, multiple bathrooms/showers on every floor, towel service, gorgeous views from rooms.
Coffee machine wasn’t always full, everything else was amazing

The room was very clean and tidy. The staff at check-in was friendly. Wifi was good
The room was very basic. It only had a bed and a few sockets. I had to put my clothes on the floor since there was nothing else in the room. Although the room is quite small, there would be enough space to put a small desk or a few shelves to make the stay more comfortable.
