The breakfast was continental. Fresh berries, bananas, oranges, muffins, croissants, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice. The room was beautifully set up. It felt like we were in a manor house in Britain. Our room had a balcony with table and chairs, overlooking fields and hillside. The room was actually a suite, with a living room, bedroom and bathroom plus a small kitchenette. There was a spectacular wooden framed electric (?) fire place, but it was too warm to try it. The decor was superb. There were even coloured pencils and a sharpener on the desk.

It was great. We liked everything.

The secret garden suite was spacious with a bedroom, sitting room, large bathroom and veranda. The rooms are themed so the secret garden had many decorative features relating to that. The host was friendly and we had early access to our room. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom had spacious shower and large tub. Continental breakfast with lots of fruit , muffins and croissants.

Only negatives were the breakfast croissants didn’t seem fresh. Maybe from frozen? The air conditioning was noisy so we couldn’t have on while sleeping. . Consequently room was hot during the night.

If you want a break from the average hotel with worn furnishings and feel like a special treat, this is it. All the rooms have a theme, and are wonderfully decorated and appointed. The rooms I stayed in had huge soaking tubs, real stone bath counters, and huge, comfortable beds. They had balconies overlooking a big panorama of the faraway mountains, and the attractive neighborhood. The rooms I stayed in had a fridge, microwave, and electric kettle to heat water for your coffee. There’s even a small collection of sweet snacks. The area is walkable, with a park at the bottom of the street. The continental breakfast is served in an attractive dining room, and the host will be there to greet you and pour your coffee. Well worth the slightly higher cost than the average hotel.

Nothing to dislike.

The property was easy to find, just a few minutes off Highway 1. It was lovely and quiet. We stayed in the Secret Garden Suite. It was clean, comfortable and full of delightful secret garden accents. The continental breakfast offered a nice selection. The host was very personable and knowledgeable. The price was competitive with a stay in a bigger hotel. I heartily recommend this boutique hotel.

People with mobility issues should ask for a ground floor. This wasn't an issue for us.

Chris, our host, was very friendly and accommodating. He recommended an excellent restaurant nearby and offered to serve breakfast early so we could make our flight home. Each room, a suite really, was beautifully decorated.

Somewhat remote-need car for local restaurants and shopping. Be prepared for stairs. We were on third floor-bit of a struggle with suitcases. These are minor. The setting among vineyards and quality of rooms and service outweigh any negatives.

Chris was amazing! We needed an early check-in and Chris was able to accommodate this, as well as store our bags on the night before our stay. Great communication. Breakfast was lovely and our stay just felt peaceful. Would definitely come back!

Not sure what was going on or who it was, but in the middle of the night, it sounded like someone was entering a code into our door lock?! There was no attempt to open the door, and we didn't see anyone, but it did freak us out a bit.

Everything about the Brookside Inn was fabulous. Our suite had a fabulous view, the facilities were great and couldn’t have asked for more. Chris went over and above to help us. For us it was a stop over before getting the ferry. We would definitely stay if ever here again.

There was nothing to improve, we liked everything.

We stayed here on our wedding night after the inn was recommended to us by friends who had also stayed on their wedding night. The bed was super comfy. Check in was easy and flexible. We were able to park our car there the night before and get the keys in so we could check in anytime. Breakfast was delicious. The bed was super comfortable. Our host was kind and thoughtful. Will definitely stay again!

The friendly service was exceptional. The food was great and the decor was delightful and cosy.

We found the mattress to be a bit uncomfortable but quite acceptable. We could not operate the TV of DVD player without help, and then could not watch TV later and didn't want to keep asking for assistance.

This is a small, Intimate inn with a vintage feel. If you like modern minimalist decor this isn’t for you. You feel personally welcomed the moment you enter. The suite felt homey, perfect for watching an old romantic movie. Also, there was a balcony to enjoy the outdoors. The location was a bit away from the city but it was relaxing and quiet. The bedding was excellent quality. The breakfast room is very welcoming and you can either keep to yourself or interact with others. Breakfast was continental.

More choices for breakfast would have been great.
