Hotel Monte Real

I liked everything about this place! It had a great location just on the edge of town so it was nice and quiet, but only a 5 minute walk to get to the centre of La Fortuna. The staff were wonderful! Everyone was friendly, helpful and informative. They helped me with tours and taxis and even organised a smart TV for my room so I could watch Netflix in the evening. There is a good laundry service too. My room was kept immaculately clean by the great housekeeping staff and had everything I needed including the most wonderful view of Arenal volcano. I had a fridge, coffee maker, balcony, smart TV as mentioned earlier, aircon, decent bathroom and great wifi. Breakfast was included and it was lovely sitting in the restaurant beside the river each morning and getting to see and meet some of the other guests. There was also a lot of wildlife near the property - I saw a sloth, various iguanas, a Jesus Christ lizard, and a variety of birds plus I could hear toucans.

I liked everything about this property. It was my favourite place to stay in my 3 month trip around Costa Rica and I liked it even better than a very high end hotel I stayed in.

I loved the bamboo restaurant and location. The staff were super kind and welcoming as well as helpful. The guy that runs the restaurant is awesome! Amazing food too.

The beds were a little uncomfortable.

The Bamboo restaurant staff and food was absolutely amazing. We were so happy we decided to just stay and eat there the first night. Breakfast and bar drinks really good too and prices lower than out in town actually. Will very much stay here again. Pool was great and like a thermal pool- hiked La Fortuna waterfall early before crowds and then decided to just stay on the grounds at hotel and swim and enjoy a whole area to ourselves with the bartender who brought our drinks to the pool.

More pillows maybe? Everything was great so hard question.

The room was a nice size for three people, and the bathroom was fine. There was a nice patio in front of our room, and the property itself was not only convenient but also carried a little of the rainforest vibe with the cafe and little walk in the woods behind the hotel. The reception help was fantastic, too! Pleasant, safe, comfortable.

It was a nice room with all the basic amenities, including fluffy blankets. It wasn't cozy and there was not much chance to watch TV in English (no extra service for English speaking guests), but these are the picky things. I would recommend and stay again. We might have had an upgraded room. I'm not sure....

This is the first time I rate a properly a 10! First the staff is just outstanding. They helped us organize all the activities, called taxis, recommended tours…etc. We had a room on 2nd. floor with garden view right in front of the volcano. The room is big with a terrasse. Breakfast served by the river in a charming restaurant is excellent! Again the staff at the restaurant where we ate several times is just perfect. Thé hotel is in a quiet part of La Fortuna but very close to everything. Very good value for money. Overall this was the best hotel we stayed in during our one month trip to Costa Rica.

We stayed 1 night at Mont Real and it was perfect. The beds were comfortable and Room #8 spacious. The back balcony provided a nice viewing of Vulcan Arenal. The bathroom was also spacious with hot water. When we arrived, the receptionist made reservations for us at a hot springs. The breakfast was very good and many options to choose from. After breakfast, we went down to the river behind the hotel and enjoyed the sleeping sloth in the tree and taking family pics. Overall, I would recommend this hotel due to the staff being very friendly, the location to town and yet being quiet, the breakfast, and the comfortable accommodations.

Everything was perfect here for us.

This little hotel was perfect! It was super clean, the huge sliding doors let in a ton of natural light, there is a little nature walk behind where we saw red-eyed tree frogs, and all of the staff were great. In particular, our favorite part was actually the restaurant. The man who runs the restaurant with his wife was so kind, an amazing cook (try the stuffed chicken), and we enjoyed seeing him every morning for the free breakfast. I would 100% stay in this hotel again.

The bed was hard and the wifi was choppy. But they're pretty minor complaints, we loved the place overall.

The hotel has a great location, we had a view on the vulcano from our porch. The room was very big and comfortable. Breakfast is served at the nice little hotel restaurant right by the river.

We wanted to buy shuttle tickets to Monteverde and where told a higher price than expected. When we checked for prices at a tour office arround the corner we got the shuttle tickets for less money. So I would not recommend to book something at the hotel without checking prices somewhere else first.

We absolutely loved Hotel Monte Real! The grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed having breakfast and hearing the stream in the morning. I would recommend getting up early and if you have a tour before breakfast, you can arrange for a "to-go" breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and we even saw a sloth on the grounds! Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean! The location is insanely close to town and is so convenient!

The WiFi did not work at all for us! Luckily we bought phone plans but that would have been challenging if we didn't!

Great location! In town but quiet and right beside a river and jungle area. Wonderful view from our room. There’s a fantastic family run restaurant on site. Excellent breakfast that is included. Friendly staff. Free parking. Security at night. Very clean and spacious room.

The only complaint was that our bed was very hard. I did mention it to the receptionist on the way out. She said she would make a note. A mattress topper would help.
