Stunning. a gem in the historic center, and historic on its own. Public spaces are quiet and peaceful. Staff is great. close to all the sights in the historic district. Safe if traveling solo.

Food was only so-so (dinner and bar)I would recommend heading out and trying local spots. while breakfast buffet was beautiful, at $25 USD, seemed pricey for what you got. No option to just do ala carte.

This hotel is a unique stay, as the former home / mansion of the first Spanish governor of the area. The building was expanded and now is run by a Dominican company on behalf of the government, which continues to own the facility. The whole site is very impressive, very historic, with all the charm that that conveys. One of the most unique properties I've ever stayed in and would absolutely stay there again. Walking distance to Parque Colon, nearby museums, shopping, the cathedral, as well as many restaurants, bars, etc. Excellent location.

Really, there was nothing I didn't like about the property or the staff. Everyone was very nice, accommodating, gave great recommendations, even went out of their way to find a taxi to take me to dinner one night when I underestimated the distance to the hotel.

The location cannot be beat. The old world charm is just wonderful. The room was quiet and clean. The workout room was adequate and I appreciated having a quiet, cool space to use for this purpose. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good. It was amazing to be so close to a wonderful supermarket as well as the excellent local open air restaurants.

The room I was originally checked into had a very strong lacquer/paint smell, so I had to switch, but this was taken care of efficiently. The checkout process for our group was quite cumbersome and wifi was weak.

This is by far the best place to stay in the Colonial area of Santo Domingo. It is centrally located, the building itself is a landmark. The included buffet breakfast was always fresh with tons of options. Staff is very friendly, and speak English. We wanted to go to a Baseball game, and they went out of their way to find tickets for us to a sold out game. The pool is a fun place to hang out when not touring the many, many historical sights of the city.

We had trouble with the electronic card key and had to have it fixed at least 4 times, they said it was because we put it near our cell phone. The internet in our room was spotty, but it was Christmas, and we did not want to complain about it. It wasn't until our 4th night there that we even realized we could have dinner in the pool area. That could have been made more obvious. And the dinner there was very good!

Location was amazing; hotel common spaces were beautiful; staff were incredibly helpful and friendly (including arranging for a lab tech to come to the hotel to do my COVID-19 test before I returned to the U.S.)

For this nice of a hotel, I thought the quality of breakfast items was not great. My biggest complaint was that there were very few accessible electrical outlets in the room (and none near the bed - I had to unplug the reading lamp to plug in my phone) and that the wifi in the common areas was excellent, but it was very inconsistent in my room (old building, I know, but at a 4-star hotel one would expect a strong hi-speed internet connection in all rooms). I needed to work several hours per day while I was there and ended up giving up on the hotel’s wifi (used my phone as a hotspot and burned through data instead).

The staff was lovely and very helpful and spoke great English. The public areas of this hotel are absolutely beautiful. We had a problem with the ac in our room and the staff fixed it immediately. The shower was terrific. I have very thick hair and often have a great deal of trouble washing my hair. Water pressure was fantastic.

Our room was a bit disappointing. There was no view at all. (It was a "contemporary" room on the first floor.) In comparison to the public space it was much less special. However, it was clean and quite functional.

This hotel is located in one of the oldest building of the New World from the Colombus era. The location of the hotel couldn't be better in the colonial city with lot's historical buildings, and nice restaurants and bars at walking distance. The staff of the hotel is helpful, efficient and courteous. Bed sheets are to die for. I've been to this hotel several times in the past and everytime I"m fully satisfied.

Some boats docked at the port nearby can be noisy but generally it becomes more quiet in the evening .

very nice antique building. we stayed in the Colonial room, there are two types of Colonial, one with shower and other with shower. the bath one is much smaller so we choose the shower much spacious and comfortable. the breakfast is plenty and they even serve sparkling mimosas. the local honey was delicious. the pool is great. we enjoyed our stay. little over price but to be in the Main Street in historic building made the experience more unique. would definitely come back.

The room was fabulous and very old style colonial as advertised. Everything was clean and well kept. One really feels like traveling back in time and the overall experience was very nice! The breakfast was exquisite and we enjoyed the outdoor seating at the patio. The staff was very attentive, pleasant, and very professional. We would definitely return again but this time we would probably want a different style room on the top floor (see below what we did like)

The bed was too stiff and had a bit of a V-shape to it, so 5 out of 10 on comfort, and the AC was turned way too low so it was freezing inside even though it was a very nice and warm day outside. After we turned the AC down and came back from dinner, the temperature was acceptable. The walls of this old villa a 3 ft thick so there's really no need for the AC at all and coming from outside to a temperature that is 10 magnitudes lower was really not that pleasant.
