Holiday Inn - Hamburg - Berliner Tor, an IHG Hotel

The hotel is modern and clean, in a good location 10 minutes' walk from Berliner Tor station (underground trains and also S-bahn over ground to the airport). The staff were very friendly and helpful The breakfasts were excellent with a mixture of German and British foods. Despite being from a machine, the coffee was also good.

There is construction work going on in the street between the hotel and railway station but it is a minor nuisance and outside the hotel's control. The hotel has recently gone "cash free", which didn't cause me a problem but I disagree with the policy in principle.

The itself hotel is fine; the rooms are quite spacious and clean. They got a sauna at the upper floor which is really nice, and the staff was polite and friendly. All in all, it a good value for money.

The location could have been much better. If you're not familiar with the city, you might think that you are really in the city center or at least quite close to it. In fact, to get to the nearest S/U-Bahn station you need to walk for 10-15 minutes, and this is something which we really did not like. Also, the neighborhood is dull, there are no restaurants or cafes around, so there's pretty much nothing to do.

Were sauna services / anything else part of the price? We didn't hear it from you. Would have been nice to know in advance. Just like the fact that there was no mini bar (fridge option). Also, it was a bit strange that you gave us 12.00 check out time but we got our door barged on at 8.00. That wasn't nice. But that was a miniscule thing compared to the very clean room and SUPREMELY QUIET space. Thanks so much for that!

Lobby is welcoming and cosy. Room was spotless, beds comfortable, quality GROHE plumbing and excellent soundproofing. The window could be opened for air and there was an adjustable thermostat for heat or air-con. Kettle teas and cups provided. The baby cot we were eventually given was also great but they have stopped giving these now for some strange reason. Checkout was a civilised noon. In a very handy location near Berliner Tor station which offers plenty of transportation lines. Breakfast was excellent offering a good variety of foods. Staff were all super friendly despite being clearly overworked and understaffed at many times. Really enjoyed our stay. Danke :)

No hairdryers or many toiletries in room. Also had to beg for a travel cot despite having requested this months ago when booking. Apparently they have stopped offering these which was disappointing but they did bring one to our room in the end as we couldn’t have stayed there with our baby otherwise. Coffee was from a machine at breakfast and didn’t taste that great but was passable. Huge queues to get into breakfast at some stages of the morning. No room service or dining options provided other than breakfast. We ordered in on one evening using Lieferando which worked well.

Clean and quite new. Staff were all very friendly and smiling. Bed was very comfortable and the room sufficiently spacious. Nice and clean bathroom.

After a number of nights the breakfast was quite dull, despite the huge variety. I wonder a bit about the amount of food that will be wasted every day. And dry scrambled eggs from powder are an absolute NoGo for a hotel this class in my eyes. Some fresh egg dishes or an egg counter would make a huge difference in my eyes.

the hotel dont except pet´s, but we have booked with, on your side. But they will except our arrangement. It was very kind and we are happe, because we dont need to change the hotel. For cleaning the room in case of oure dog , they only would have 30 € more.

we don´t take the breakfast, because 25€ per Person is too much. 4 Person 100 € and you will only take a coffee and an a roll. so you can eat more in the town.

Nice new hotel. Just a wonderful breakfast where you can find anything you want. The room is new and quite spacious. Fast WiFi. New plumbing, good water pressure and temperature. The front desk staff is quick and helpful with everything.

Unfortunately there is no fridge or minibar in the room. Also, the door to the bathroom closed on its own and rattled the lock loudly. Parking for the whole day costs about 19 euros. TV without smart. The pizza in the restaurant is absolutely not tasty, and the water is very expensive.

The staff was nice and competent (especially at the reception). Everything was handled quickly. The hotel had good security measures. Times for breakfast were fitting and the room was clean. It had all the necessary items.

The bathroom door in our room didn’t work. It could be opened from outside, even when it was locked on the inside. After the first night we (me and my friend) were told that room cleaning service would only come, if we attached the respective sign to the doorknob outside (due to covid). We still had staff from the room cleaning service knocking at our door. The obligation to wear masks (we travelled while it was still necessary) also wasn’t well executed at all.

The location was great for those who want to be slightly out of the city centre, It's only 2 stops from the main station and the train station near to the hotel is only 5 minutes walk away. You can get group ticket for up to 5 people for €12.90 for all day. The hotel was clean and the breakfast selection was great. Beds were super comfy. There's a Burger King, McDonalds & Aldi within walking distance of the hotel.

The air-conditioning wasn't great in the rooms and therefore it was a bit hot & stuffy. Some of the reception staff weren't so friendly but the majority were pleasant & helpful. There aren't any fridges in the standard rooms. The hotel bar closed early the night we arrived and we really needed a drink it was disappointing that hotel guests weren't able to be served. We went across the hotel Moxy and managed to get a drink there.

i requested to issue new receipt to include the company name via 2 international phone calls & 3 emails, but was ignored completely. at the same time i made similar request to Denmark hotel ( not via booking.com) and they came back to me within an hour. am thinking do i need to travel to Hamburg for the receipt for the eur1000 reimbursement????
