Great location! Right in the middle of the Altstadt. 5 mins walk from Dom, 30 seconds from Groß St Martin, 2 mins from the river, 6 mins to the central station. Has glass, cup and saucer, kettle, teabags and coffee, tiny fridge sufficient for a few days. Missing a spoon unfortunately. Surprise free apples at the reception during the mainly unmanned hours at the property, nice gesture to say hello.

Only 4 hours a day manned reception. But they are quite good to reply messages out of these 4 hours. Noisy street, Monday morning very early was the rubbish truck. I was on the first floor (I asked for 1st floor due to no lift), and the noisy was like right next to me. If it’s not too warm, it’s probably ok to turn the fan on (quite quiet) and shut the windows for the night, except I wouldn’t know the rubbish truck would come. Beware of Monday mornings if you stay there and have a room facing the street side.

Absolutely wonderful location, in a charming narrow street near the Rhine, with the back facing a charming square. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Probably one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in the adjacent café. Lovely cosy, clean rooms, with nice touches like the complimentary Kolsch and water in the fridge.

We visited in August and the lack of air con meant the rooms were warm. With windows open for a breeze there was some street noise (but nothing like as noisy as other hotels I’ve stayed at in Koln). The precipitous narrow spiral staircase (66 steps) to our fourth floor room was fine for us but would be challenging if anyone in your group had mobility issues, so do ask for a room on a lower floor if this applies to you. These are small niggles though - I’d definitely stay there again!

Lovely hotel with a perfect location just off of Alter Markt the Old Market My room was on the 4th floor with a little balcony that you could just fit a chair on and sit and people watch from while enjoying a Kolsche There’s a reception desk but you can also self check in which was a good experience and a free Kolsch and water in your room on arrival was a nice touch

No lift and pretty steep stairs so won’t be easy for everyone especially not if you’re lazy like me but climbing to the 4th floor each time was a welcome inconvenience

We arrived early at 11am which was way before check in time of 4pm. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We just wanted to leave our luggage for the time being but they advised that the room was ready anyway. Perfect start. We knew that the room was a budget double, but were pleasantly surprised by the size, decor and cleanliness. Breakfast was included in our rate which very tasty and of good quality. Again, the welcome every morning was fantastic and they made us feel at home. The best christmas market is just a few metres away too! The Hotel is around a 10 minute walk from the Koln Central Train Station, quite easy to find too. The S19 Train from Koln Airport was easy to find at the terminal and only 15-20 mins to the city centre and only 3 euros per person!

The location of the hotel is great, staff is friendly and the breakfast very diverse. There was a nice cold beer in the fridge when we arrived, which we found a great gesture. The hotel has a self service check-in and check-out, but nevertheless we were greeted personally upon arrival. Overall, a very good stay for a city trip to Cologne.

We had a room on the 5th floor, without an elevator, this was quite climb. The room itself was very charming in the attic of the building and even had a balcony with a view on the Dom. The charm comes at a price, there are a lot of small corners and a slanted roof in some areas, making the room a bit tight at moments. For improvement it would be nice to have one additional comfortable chair in the room as well as a electric kettle.

The room was comfortable (we actually had a slightly larger room than booked as compensation for difficulties on arrival - see below). The hotel is very conveniently located in the old town close to the markets but in a quiet location away from the main thoroughfares. Our room rate included (continental) breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised as to how good it was - staff very attentive and friendly.

We had difficulty on arrival as the bell did not seem to work and I had overlooked the fact I had received a message with a PIN for the door. I had to call the hotel to speak to someone but that didn't really help - fortunately there was a staff member in the hotel who eventually let us in and was then very apologetic and helpful. Our arrival was mid-afternoon - a late night arrival would have been a problem. Booking.com should improve the messaging for such critical information as a PIN! The details should also draw attention to the fact there is no lift in the hotel, which might be a problem for some (not us!)

The hotel is in the heart of the city, about 10 minutes walk from the railway station and the Cathedral, which was ideal. The room was very nice and very clean. It had everything I needed. The staff were very helpful and happy to help as needed.

A word of advice is that because there is no lift, if you have difficulties with stairs, be sure when booking to ask for a room on a lower floor. The staff will do their best to help meet your needs.

The hotel is great, absolutely well located in the city center, everything is just near buy: the Riverside, all the bars and restaurants, check in is very easy. Although, the street is very noisy you are ok in your room, cause all the windows are soundproof. You even have a bottle of Kolsch in the fridge waiting for you. Nice touch. I loved the breakfast on the very nice terrace, blankets are there if you feel cold in the early mornings.

The only thing I was missing was the air-conditioning, the room was very hot, and the small fan wasn't help enough.

It is a bit of a hike up, especially if you’re on the 4th floor. The deluxe room —in the attic- has a pitched ceiling which is not great for tall people. The regular rooms (not on the top floor) had better bathroom space.

Really lovely room in an amazing location. They also left several chocolates for us, so that is a definitely a plus

There is no lift and my partner hurt his back just before the trip. But this is probably more of a review of human frailty and remembering that despite being young and generally fit, anything can happen, not a review of the hotel
