We had room 105 in the Heritage section - a junior suite and it was spectacular - marble, walkin wardrobe, separate kitchen and comfortable bed. You could hear some street noise but usually quiet after 10. The hotel was walking distance to metro and Victoria museum and a shopping mall. The buffet at breakfast was ok - the egg station the best and for me - dont try the coffee.

The checkout process spoilt our stay - as we left early we checked out the night before but early in the morning we had to go through it all again making us late for our plane.

The Kenilworth Hotel has a number of clear advantages which make it an ideal as a base for tourists exploring Kolkata. The first of these is location. It is situated in a relatively quiet location which, in a city as incredibly busy as Kolkata, is highly desirable. A number of the city’s 5-star hotels do not offer this benefit. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Kolkata metro, giving fast (and very cheap!) access to the south and north of the city. The Kolkata metro service is quite comparable to other older metros around the world. Most importantly, the hotel is within easy walking distance of several of the most significant tourist attractions including the Victoria Memorial Hall, South Park Street Cemetery, St Paul’s Cathedral and the ISKCON temple. The second advantage is that the service is not only friendly but also nothing seems to be too much trouble. I was very much made to feel “at home”. The Concierge, for example, could not be more helpful in assisting with local travel arrangements and providing local information and advice. Check in and check out were very efficient. The hotel comprises two building of quite different ages within a secure compound. Neither was built yesterday ..so don’t expect USB sockets… however I am very pleased to say that I was presented with a spotlessly clean airconditioned room that offered a king sized bed, marble bathroom and every conceivable facility that I might need. The room was provided with a very generous supply of bottled water and housekeeping was most attentive. Breakfast is very generous… the kitchen prepares a range of freshly cooked breakfast items to order in addition to a buffet. The hotel chef displays a great deal of talent and offers an exceptionally wide range of dinner menu options although it can be quite challenging not to order too much food! Would I stay at the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata again? You bet I would.

The breakfast buffet offered a wonderful selection of North and South Indian and continental foods, from dosa and idly to sausage and omelets to rice, curries and fruited mishti doi. Check in, the travel desk, and housekeeping were expert and attentive. Priya at the travel desk was exceptionally knowledgable and welcoming. Imran as a driver had an excellent knowledge of English, a choice of delicious restaurants, lovely boutiques, and knew the routes so well. The beds were comfortable and rooms clean and very attractive. Park Street is within walking distance, as is the metro subway.

The location was good and it was easy to get transport. The staff was cooperative. The ambience was very pleasant. Check-in and check-out was handled professionally. The room had a bed and a small sofa but can get a bit claustrophobic if you are going to spend all day there.

The toilet in the attached bathroom is extremely uncomfortable. The length of the jet spray is so short that it barely reaches the toilet bowl. This should definitely be reviewed by the hotel. Ice is chargeable at Rs.200/- + tax for a bucket. This is odd because drinking water is dispensed free and generously. The food in the restaurant was average and service was quite slow.

The Hotel is located on Russel Street and is within walking distance from Park Street (approx 1.5 Kms). The buffet breakfast is very sumptuous and caters for varied tastes. The live counter provided South Indian, North Indian and Continental items. Housekeeping did an excellent job. Staff at the reception and the restaurant are very courteous and helpful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to family and friends.

The surrounding area is not too clean, possibly due to Puja holidays. I would suggest to the Hotel management to coordinate with the local authorities to resolve this issue.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and centrally located near the Maiden. The included breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff unfailingly helpful and polite. My only (minor) complaint was that we had requested a double bed but instead had two twins pushed together. Daily housekeeping was excellent (thank you Ayesha). We also made use of the gym, which was clean and well maintained, and I enjoyed an exceptional massage (thank you Surela) at the on-site spa.

Breakfast was good. location is perfect and within walking distance of many tourist attractions, shopping malls, business centres, foreign consulates and popular food joints. For someone who dreads the kolkata taxi experience or likes walking and exploring but also likes comfortable accomodation this is a good option. Staff were friendly and they kindly allowed late checkout.

the smell of cigarette smoke in the corridors and sometimes it could get noisy with people jumping? or was it construction noises? above our room. certainly felt like a troupe of dancers trying to find their beat and failing miserably...

I liked that we got our room immediately upon arrival. Breakfast was good specially the live station. Juice, Tea coffee options were also varied.

I didn't like our room view. I wanted city view which I didn't get.

Excellent hospitality, the staff were very focused to provide care and comfort. The breakfast buffet was very good and had variety of options. They were happy to cater to dietary restrictions. The food from the restaurant was not overpriced, with respect to quality and others of the same standard in the area. We used their beauty saloons, which was really nice as well. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious with adequate storage. Last but not the least: convenient location.

For a hotel in a long time, I have nothing to add here.

I Anirban Kar stayed at Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata along with my wife Riya for this first time and we admit that Kenilworth met our expectation very well. Additionally I felt very nostalgic because I stayed at Kenilworth hotel after my last time stay in year 1994 with my Uncle Saroj Kar. I found the service quality extremely well and exactly felt the same warmness this time too that I had felt during my last stay in year 1994. Food quality and quantity were very good, 1 plate was enough of us as couple. Shawarma roll was very tasty, Spanish omellette was excellent and presentation of food was awesome, I like it.

The only thing I would request to improve is the variety of food dishes for complementary breakfast. However, the available food dishes were of very good quality and we received very good service over there at the cafeteria.
