Great decor and really big room. Complimentary mini bar with pop and chocolate. The sitting room was really comfy for sitting and reading for a little while.

The was a lot of street noise Friday and Saturday night. There was a kebab house right below our window with outdoor seating so patrons sat there until 4am. This wasn’t great but is the consequence of staying in a hotel in a great central location. I suggest getting some silicon earplugs. They work miracles and I couldn’t hear a thing.

The breakfast was excellent. Good choices and beautifully cooked. The fruit etc was fresh each day. The hotels location on the promenade was perfect for what we wanted to do each day easy access to all modes of transport. We ate an evening meal at the hotel twice and each time it was delicious

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

HALVARD HOTEL, DOUGLAS 5 nights – Tuesday 23rd May – Sunday 28th May 2023 Hotel situated about 8 minutes’ walk, from the ferry terminal, along the promenade. All the staff met were extremely polite, professional and helpful. Retired couple. Room 105 2 windows – front overlooking a shopping street and the other towards another bedroom (this one had frosted glass, ours did not). Consequently, we kept the curtain on this window closed and this made the room slightly dark. There was a fridge which contained 2 bottles water, large bar of chocolate, packet of crisps and 2 cans of Coca-Cola. These were replaced daily. The room was individually temperature controlled and had plenty of storage space for clothes etc. The en-suite facilities were good although it took a while to understand how the shower controls worked. There are a few points worth noting. The first is that there are no power sockets over the writing table (nearest plug too far away if one wishes to plug in a lap top) also no light over the table to facilitate writing. The second is the position of the room safe – Completely unusable as bolted to the floor in the clothes locker – see photo Lastly the space between the bottom of the bed and the wall is less than 30 cms. To get from that side of the bed to the en-suite meant squeezing - see photo past the end of the bed on the one side and a tall radiator attached to the wall Breakfast was good with a extremely wide range of choices. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was excellent. They had everything anyone would want for breakfast. Fruit juices; choice of cereal; Continental style breakfast; cooked full English; lots of egg dishes; toast; tea/coffee. The location was very good. Bus stop outside hotel and bus station ten minute walk away. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed; good sized en suite with walk in shower. Lots of lovely fluffy towels and toiletries. The fridge in the room was filled every day with bottles of water, cans of coke and snacks which is a lovely touch. There is also tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room. The staff go the extra mile for guests to have a comfortable stay.

I would have liked a bedside lamp. There were wall lights above the bed but they were pointing upwards and no good for reading. There was some noise from the street at night from a takeaway and a pub - mostly on Friday and Saturday - but as we live in a busy area and are used to some noise it didn't really bother us but other people might find it annoying. Our room faced the back of the building. I don't think the rooms at the front would be affected by noise.

Fabulous room, food, staff and of course view. The staff had a birthday banner and balloon in the room for my husband, and also we had complimentary crisps, chocolate and water and minerals. Simply amazing.

Large comfortable room with a great shower and mood lighting you can adjust depending how you feel The staff were very competent and genuinely invested in helping guests enjoy the benefits of not only the hotel but the island as well Fabulous breakfast and lovely to experience the complimentary Tapas dishes in the evening Good location on the Sea front close to transport links main shopping area and the restaurants around the Harbour area

If you are in a room to the rear it can be a little noisy at weekends as the hotel backs onto the busy Strand St The parking restrictions can be 'tricky' to get to grips with Overall though not huge issues and totally out of the Hotels jurisdiction

Exceeded expectations! From the moment we arrived greeted by Romano and Lucas - to the moment we checked out with Lucy and Peter the service was exceptional- the team really make this place special situated in the perfect location in Douglas overlooking the sea and fort in the distance. Rachael Lucas Romano and Peter served us at different times while dinning. Lucas is an excellent manager who has a happy hard working enthusiastic team! The house keeping team lanna and wiesia did a marvellous job - it was our 5th wedding anniversary returning to the island where we got married and they blew us away with a surprise room made up with swans and love hearts and a champagne ballon! Although due to a late booking we did not get a SV room - the room was fabulous - spacious with a generous fridge of complimentary drinks and snacks refreshed daily- very unique and a lovely unexpected extra. We dined in one night - wow - fabulous generous portions - we had onion soup followed by Belgian stew and lamb shank -would recommend it all! ❤️ Compliments to the chef ( sorry didn’t get your name) and his perfect cooked breakfast every morning ! 😀 Rachel was a little gem despite being such a busy bee running around serving everyone with speed and a smile she took time to look up trips to the sound and advise on train times and other great things to do with a big smile! Everything about our stay was brilliant - relaxing with the added bonus of a lovely bar / lounge area with sea views and good wines to drink!🍷🍷

This did not spoil our staff - it was the heat wave weekend so It was very hot , our room was 27 degrees but the fan provided did help! The only feedback would be get softer pillows - they were very hard and uncomfortable but lucky I took my own pillow which my husband tried to sneak off me! 🤣 Other than that small improvement it was all a 10+++

The accommodation was excellent and very convenient for the town centre and the ferry terminal. Lovely staff (thank you Lucas, Rachel, Rachel and Peter), any minor issues were dealt with quickly and effectively. Top marks. The housekeeping was excellent with top quality bed sheets and towels. Nice to get complimentary drinks, chocolate and crisps every day in the minibar. Breakfast was delicious and extensive (I particularly enjoyed the eggs Benedict). Altogether a wonderful stay. We took our car but bought a “Go Explore” travel ticket which was good value, convenient and allowed travel on buses, steam train, electric railway, mountain railway and horse drawn tram. Fantastic fun and very convenient times for travelling around the island.

Disappointed that the hotel was not doing evening meals but they did offer complimentary tapas in the evening when you bought a drink. The tapas were delicious and perfect when you needed a light evening meal. There was some noise at night from a local bar but it didn’t spoil my sleep and the hotel are trying to manage this.

Breakfast excellent, as was location of the hotel. We had dinner a couple of times and the quality, choice and service was very good. Staff were friendly, professional and attentivec at all times. Our room was spacious and comfortable and bathroom was modern. Overall the hotel met our expectations.

Because our room overlooked the pedestrianised road we were woken late at night several times during our stay. It maybe a good idea if the rooms that faced this area were triple glazed to lessen this.

location on the Douglas Prom was perfect; beautiful facility & breakfast was very good. the room was clean and had a nice walk in shower.

two reasons for the less than excellent comfort rating: first was due to lack of air conditioning. however this is the case with all properties on IOM. open windows and French door & portable fan are provided the second: with the windows open, noise from a bit of traffic & pigeons cooing (which is normally lovely however no screens on the windows so thought they were coming in!) and a more firm mattress than we are used to made it a bit less comfortable.
