Overall, it was a nice hotel esp for those who have places to go. I was out after the standard continental breakfast and back around 10/11pm so didn't need the usual hotel amenities you would expect. James was v helpful and upgraded me to Sea view which was great (have a look at the photo from the room). The bus is close of the hotel and the staff are nice.

One downside of The Penta is its location on the Queens Prom, it's not close to the town centre. It's easier to catch a bus (which is close) into town (only worth it if you have a pass). The second is there is hardly any decent food options around the hotel (most closed down or open at odd hours) unless you go into Douglas town centre. The best option was to order in.

The room and all facilities were excellent and very clean. Plenty of variety at breakfast and the dining room was very spacious. Helpful staff

When we had booked our stay at The Penta, we answered the question about time of arrival, stating that as we were arriving on the ferry from Liverpool, we would arrive at about 10 - 11pm. We received a message saying that because of our arrival time, we would need to pick our hotel key from a different hotel. When we called to verify this, we were told - very abruptly - that we couldn't change, or alter our booking in anyway, without losing our money.

A comfortably large room [21] with good size bathroom. Excellent above-bath shower - pressure good and water hot [too hot?]. It obviously can be adjusted but the high water temperature may have led to the warmth of the room and corridors. Rooms attended every other day and everything replenished as required. The lift is required for higher floors as the staircase is narrow. Breakfast was simple but ideal to start the day in a bright room looking out to the promenade. Conveniently we were also able to leave our luggage until 1.30pm therefore enabling us to enjoy the remainder of our stay.

As mentioned the heat in the corridors and room was a little too warm - no radiators were on as the week was blessed with warm sunny weather. This could be caused by the water temperature running through the building. The lift is a bonus but its abrupt stopping is something that could be improved.

The breakfast was a complimentary continental breakfast which was sufficient for our needs. Location on the promenade gave lovely views of Douglas Bay. Short walking distance of bus stops to take you to other areas of the island.

After morning breakfast period there was no one on reception but you could ring sister hotel if there was a problem. Did try to ring on last day of stay but no one answered the phone! No hand rail on first flight of stairs ( we were on the second floor) a bit of a worry coming down the stairs if there was an emergency.

The staff are all friendly and welcoming. It's the staff that make a good hotel. The Penta is a clean, basic hotel. The rooms are big and clean. The Penta is warm and comfortable. In a great location. On the Sea front away from the Noise of the Town.

For me I need a bigger breakfast. However it's made clear on booking bigger breakfast is available down the road at the Sister Hotel. Also I'd like better weather for the racing please.

We travel a couple of times a year to visit others in Isle of Man. We always choose the Penta because it has a central position, free parking outside the door, a fabulous sea view and vantage point to see the comings a goings along the promenade along with it being spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. There is a powerful hot shower in our ensuite room and a substantial continental breakfast available at no extra cost - a rarity now. Access to key collection is easy and staff are friendly and helpful. Tim and his staff go out of their way to make the visit enjoyable and the upgrade to a seaview room was much appreciated and helped make our visit even more enjoyable. We would not hesitate to recommend to others and will be bringing friends with us when we visit next time. We believe that value for money at The Penta is second to none.

Very good value hotel with large bedroom and bathroom, all spotlessly clean. A basic cereal and toast breakfast, along with tea, coffee and juice, is included. Great location on the Promenade with frequent direct bus to Douglas town centre and the Airport. Short 15 minute walk or bus ride along the sea front to the Manx Electric Railway. My favourite hotel in Douglas.

No complaints at all.

Location is excellent on the sea-front and within walking distance of the town centre. There is a Bus Mannin bus stop almost opposite with direct and regular service to the airport. The room and bathroom were spacious. Heating was very effective. Continental breakfast is great / perfectly adequate so ignore the negative remarks elsewhere. I needed extra consumables which were provided on request by attentive and responsive staff.

The lift was under maintenance and out of service for my last few days but I needed the exercise.

Room at the front had spectacular views!

We booked through Booking .com and when we arrived, midweek and off season although the hotel appeared empty, we were given a dark, dreary room in the rear of the hotel. When we asked at the desk we were told that we could move to a front sea-facing view for an additional £15 per night. We weren’t happy about the extra cost but the sea view was worth it. The elevator was a bit dodgy but other than that, it was a relatively good place for the price.

The property was clean with large rooms and the rooms with a sea-view look across the bay. The complimentary breakfast meant we could have something basic and not overeat unhealthy cooked breakfast.

The lift was very small and old, but worked perfectly well. We had two rooms booked and were put on the 3rd and 4th floor which was a pain
