Excellent location for visiting the theatre 🎭 All staff were friendly & helpful, lovely lady at reception checked us in. The room was very spacious & comfortable & we loved the balcony looking over the water garden. We enjoyed a drink at Sir Normans bar after the theatre & then really helpful room service team who arranged after show food delivery. Very relaxing experience, thank you

Breakfast was amazing. Great continental and cooked items. The kippers are off the scale amazing. The room we booked was very comfortable. Plenty of room. Had a small fridge. Kept milk, insulin and other items well chilled. The hotel had an internal courtyard, room had balcony overlooking same. Armchairs were comfortable for the evening watching TV. Hotel very central. The staff were friendly and efficient.

The WiFi was abysmal to non existent. The hotel did not have an evening restaurant nor did the pub next door. So had to either go out each evening or go for a take away. Had to pay £4 each day to park in the hotel car park. Which was small. Not guaranteed a space if you went out with the car.

This has to be one of the best hotels I've stayed in, all the staff were fantastic, especially the Reception as they were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location was perfect and the hotel itself was spotlessly clean. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony which overlooked the atrium. The bathroom was also very spacious. Breakfast was fantastic, plenty to choose from and always constantly topped up if any item ran low. This is one hotel we'd happily come back to time and time again.

Not so much a complaint but the room we stayed in did get quite warm as there was no window. Having said that we did have a fan so for us it wasn't a problem but for someone else they might get too hot.

Drove past hotel twice, and had to ask twice where it was as no obvious signs outside. On check in , saw that hotel name was at top of building (5 storeys) painted in same colour as walls, so very well camouflaged, on carved granite block above doorway, again unreadable from the road as lettering unreadable since not highlighted, and also on a flagpole, unreadable due to strong winds. Sefton needs to radically improve their signage. Room was spacious, and had an internal balcony. Room safe was not working, with note saying there was a software issue. Requested to change to a room with working safe and informed all room safes were not working due some centralized security system, disabling all hotel room safes. Breakfast was very good, in a large open sunny room, with Manx kippers available. Limited Parking was available in the basement, at £15 for the 5 day stay, on a first come basis. Swimming pool was warm, but the changing room showers were very cold, and in need of rejuvenation, looking a little tired. Ate once in the adjoining Bonzai Asian restaurant. Room lighting was very good, one of the best lit hotel rooms we have stayed in. Location is good for walking to centre, and local amenities.

Non functional safe - in an attempt to be smart, a software issue disabled all room safes - Why not go back to the tried and tested system of individual self sufficient, room safes. Bonzai restaurant we felt was just average, and overpriced for what you got. Cold showers in swimming pool changing rooms

100% care and thought always offered and always with a smile. Go the extra mile for you. Gluten free biscuits specifically bought for my room, as am coeliac, amazing, first hotel to do that for me. Nothing was too much bother.

Loved it all, the size of the room was perfect, the pool, feeling wecome and special, the food is amazing, everywhere is spotless, the staff are all really kind, helpful, pleasant friendly, welcoming. All areas of hotel are spectacular. The hot tap water was very very hot. Have to be careful. Fantastic shower.

The best location in town with private parking and all the facilities to make for a great stay. The atrium view rooms make for a really unusual but pleasant style of facility which would surprise many. I can't fault the staff, from the front desk to the breakfast room, the bar staff and cleaners, all were helpful and polite. I didn't use the pool but nice to know there is one.

Nice bed but the sofa in the atrium view bedroom was bit average and the balcony chairs have had it. I'm over six foot and 95kg so fitting into the shower was a challenge but also having a bath made up for it. Breakfast was everything you want just more attention to the cooking of the meat products. The guy who waters the balcony plants was a bit quick entering after knocking but I mentioned it to him.

We had a large room with a fabulous seaview on the 2nd floor overlooking the promenade. The staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely, self service and plenty of choice The hotel is a short walk from the shops, and a little bit further for Tesco and the steam train station. In the opposite direction was the horse drawn trams and then a 20 to 30 minute walk further the electric railway. We took our car. There was very limited parking (charged at £4 for 24 hrs) at the hotel but we were given a disc so we could park up the road. However we kept checking for spaces after 9 pm and moved the car to the hotel car park when one became free. The swimming pool was very small, but clean. However, when I used it I was alone and felt a little vulnerable as there was no staff there.

The hotel was a bit "tired" and looks like it needs a lot of money spending on it to "spruce it up" for example the walls (on our room anyway) were lumpy, the bed was old, although not uncomfortable - but it is an old building and did not make our stay less enjoyable.

Lovely old hotel right on the esplanade at Douglas. Fantastic location for strolling the the shops and restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had an atrium room which had a balcony looking over the atrium and fish ponds. Breakfast was very good and buffet style. Car parking is limited in the underground car park although there is a big multi storey car park just a few minutes walk away. The hotel has a small pool which is ideal for a quick dip after a day out.

The atrium rooms suffer with noise from other rooms. Often people would have TV,s up loud or be talking loudly on their balconies. Because the atrium is enclosed the sound is more noticeable. The car parking charges were very irritating to have to keep paying the £4 every day. You could get a 5 day pass but it seems a big waste if you go out in the car during the day.

We were met by an extremely helpful night manager who greeted myself and my nephew after a long drive and ferry crossing. Helped us all he could and arranged for the room to be cleaned immediately it was vacated so that we could access the room and get settled in. The breakfast was faultless and all the staff excellent. The view out of the room into the atrium was superb. Also, I have never had a room in this country with a shower, shower over a bath and bidet as well as usual sink and toilet. Plenty of hot water at all times and a covered garage for our motorcycles. Pretty ace all round.

Nothing,

Food at the buffet style breakfast was well stocked at the times we went. And staff were constantly replenishing. Staff cleared tables efficiently and replenished them with cutlery. The reception staff were always friendly and welcoming and I felt they could not do enough to help make my stay comfortable. Margaret served me on a number of occasions, to get extra tea/coffee and biscuits. She went beyond my expectations when I asked for new towels, by bringing them to my room herself and apologising for my wait.

My room wasn’t serviced on day 3, as I expected from the literature in my room, which was disappointing. We repeatedly had to return to reception to get the key cards reset as they kept getting cancelled out. Initially we were told this was due to having the card next to mobile phones. However, this still occurred despite being extra careful and keeping them away from mobiles. The decor is on the cusp of needing updating - wearing carpets, and furniture.
