This hotel looked a bit dated on the outside but really lovely inside. Meals were great and staff were really lovely, courteous and friendly. Cleared tables promptly. Bed was very comfortable. Room and hotel spotless. We had a large room, though it was at the back and had no view. It would be worth paying extra for a seaview room but we didn't have the option as there was only a few rooms left. There were a couple of tour groups staying but this in no way affected the service. We had carvery in the evenings which was lovely and great value. Would have no problem returning.

Our room was over the kitchen and the fan was noisy when it started around 6 or 6.30am. The lift is a tight squeeze for 2 people + luggage. We only used it for moving luggage.

Breakfast was excellent with great variety and was good that additional requests were met. Staff very helpful and nice they remembered us each morning ! Room we were in was comfortable, with all necessary amenities.

Shower mechanism temperamental, shower leaked water on to bathroom floor (both of these reported upon leaving). Evening meal in restaurant not to the same quality as breakfasts and only a limited menu choice was on offer. I’m aware that hotels struggle to attract guests for evening dinner as people often prefer to eat out. Wanted to give hotel custom, but due to experience, ate out after our one time

At the quieter end of the promenade, the views were amazing and plenty of free parking. Spacious rooms, spotlessly clean, with comfy beds and lovely hot water. Fantastic breakfasts, such a choice and everything was fresh, with the hot food kept properly hot. The attendant staff were brilliant. Francesco the chef was superb in helping us with potential allergens in food. I think it's so hard for hotels on the island, tourism isn't what it was. A lot of accommodation looks tired but how can they justify or even afford upgrades when their income was decimated due to Covid and the resultant cancellation of the TT during that time? The Rutland may not be the most modern, but look beyond that as it is very well maintained and I could fault nothing about our stay.

It had a maze of corridors!

Brilliant location right on the seafront. Our room was great - very spacious executive double with sea view and really light and airy. Staff were very pleasant and professional. Lovely 20 minute walk along the sea front takes you from the hotel to where the main restaurants, shops, pubs are. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to Isle of Man.

Nothing - all good. This didn’t distract from the stay at all but it would be great if the hotel bar stayed open a little longer on Saturday. We arrived back just after 10pm and the hotel bar had closed.

Very good breakfast, both hot and cold options and plenty of choice. Staff always on hand to assist. The location of the hotel is ok if you are mobile as it is quite a walk to the centre of Douglas but there are buses which run from across the road. We have stayed here before so knew the position of the hotel. Sea view rooms are worth paying for, lovely views. Staff always very pleasant and helpful. Rooms very clean and comfortable and serviced every day.

Choice of options for evening meal could be improved.

Perfect location just minutes from the ferry and right on the promenade, great breakfast and helpful and friendly staff who even provided a packed lunch on departure day as we had to leave before breakfast started

This has been covered by previous reviewers, ie the small lift and the steep steps but this is an old building and little can be done about it. I found the staff very helpful and am sure that they would do their best to assist with any unforseen issues.

Receptionist was excellent, male chap from South Africa .He let us have our room as it was ready @10am when we arrived and we got a sea view room. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. Location is perfect for promenade and beach I will definitely be returning to the Rutland hotel.

Quite large and steep steps to enter the hotel could be an issue for anybody who has a mobility issue . Lift very small and compact i am not sure if you would get a person in a large wheelchair in the lift ? . No other negative issues found .

Room was lovely, but a little hot due to the weather at the time. Fan was available in the room for our use and was very good. Breakfast was nice, Staff were lovely, very helpful. We will be looking to book a further break as soon as possible.

I would have requested a room on a lower floor if I had thought about it, as both my husband and myself have mobility problems. Did find the matress on the bed a little bit too hard. Other than that no complaints whatsoever.

We were upgraded to a sea view which was lovely. The room was extremely spacious and had masses of storage space. There was an incredible choice for breakfast. The staff were so friendly and helpful.

Servicing of our rooms seemed a little variable eg a dirty bathmat was left unchanged. Our water glasses were never rinsed or changed despite being used by us every day.

Staff was very friendly. We arrived at the hotel about 11 am even though check-in was only at 2 pm. We were nevertheless accommodated without any extra charge. The room was excellent.

During breakfast, we requested for an over hard egg or a boiled egg, the waitress assured us she could get them, but later returned from kitchen and told that they cannot provide. Slight flexibility by chef would have been highly appreciated.
