Hotel Gioia

Excellent location, right in the heart of the city’s main attractions. Family room was nice and spacious with solid Wi-Fi, AC, mini-fridge. The bathroom was decorated to a modern high standard with shampoo, shower and hand gel provided. Friendly staff were available to assist 24/7. The included breakfast buffet was fine and filled us nicely until lunch. We were able to leave our luggage safely, yards from their desk for 5 hours while we finished looking around the city.

The only real downsides were the very small lift which wasn’t the end of the world but if you’re in a a family be prepared to make multiple trips or send a few up with the luggage while the rest of you walk and, the low shower pressure on the 3rd floor which went between low and a trickle (we think if others in adjoining rooms were using theirs too). Nothing major but could be improved.

The bed was comfy and although the room was smallish, it worked just fine. The bathroom facilities are new and the shower was very chic although the water wasn't very hot. The breakfast buffet was formulaic but it was fine. The greatest thing was the location, just over two blocks from the Duomo and all the amazing shops and restaurants around it.

The location was great, and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good, and it was included. The bathroom was nice and spacious. There was an elevator, but it was small as they tend to be in Europe.

The rooms were painted a nice blue color, but there were only 2 small postcards for decoration on the walls. In the cradle of the Renaissance, surely they could find some larger art reproductions to hang on the walls! Also, despite the elevator, there were still 10 or so stairs to get to the room. Some of them could be replaced with a ramp to make getting through the halls to get to the rooms with luggage, or a bum knee like my mom has, a little easier.

The staff was very friendly and always wen the extra mile. I accidentally upgraded my room to a triple room so it was a bit more than I meant to spend but when I saw some of the other rooms (while housekeeping was cleaning), I was glad I had the upgrade because we had a very spacious room. We were able to connect to streaming services on the TV a noce perk to watch a show as we fell asleep after a wonderful day of exploring Florence. The housekeeping staff was excellent as well. We always had a very clean room to come back to. The shower is small by North American standards but still very nice. They has modern fixtures like a rain shower (made me want to get one when we got home). They had great shampoo and shower gel in big containers so you didn't run out. The breakfast that was included was great (scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, pastries, cold cuts, fruit and excellent coffee selection - americano, espresso, cappuccino, all made fresh and served with a smile). The hotel was very convenient, just a short walk to all the tourist sites and great restaurants.

Location is amazing, close to train station and a minute walk from the Dome, room with everything you need, including hair dryer, towels, soaps, shampoo, air con. Bed is comfortable, choice of different pillows. Staff very kind and professional, kept our suitcases the day of check out while we saw the last things in town.

Not really "didn't like", more "possible improvement". The breakfast buffet has some variety but as you get your beverage from the bar you fill in a card that they take away, so can't refill if you want more. The rooms are not soundproof at all, so it's very eastly to hear people walking in the corridors, other phones going off in other rooms and so on.

The hotel was really centrally located and a short walk away from some of the main attractions. The Duomo & Cathedral, Central Market & Academy Gallery were only 5 minutes away and it was very easy to get around. The staff are lovely and really welcoming and friendly and it was great to hear that they are a family-run hotel so you really get that feel. The front-desk is incredibly attentive, responsive and helpful and the rooms were nice, quiet and clean. I would stay here again!

The breakfast selection was pretty limited but decent. The shower was confusing to figure out as it wasn't working at first but afterwards, all okay!

The hotel has an excellent location and hotel staff members are very friendly and helpful.

The internet connection needs to be improved. I stayed at 4 different hotels in Firenze over the past 2 years. This is the only one with a bad internet signal.

We needed to extend our stay in Florence unexpectedly and were very fortunate to find the Hotel Gioia was available and able to accommodate us with twin beds. I was traveling with my sister. The front desk has 24 hour service and every person we came in contact with was very pleasant and helpful. They even ordered our taxi for the train station the night before. The rooms are a little small, but the hotel makes great use of the space. The location was very good as well, close to the Duomo and with cafes nearby.

The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were very kind and let us store our luggage. 24hr front desk which was great as we had delays getting into Florence so it was no problem checking in at early hours of the morning. The location was amazingly close to the main part of town and the cathedral! Absolutely fantastic!!!

It was a little expensive however, likely because we had to book last minute on the day and booked the last available room. Due to unforeseen circumstances. The only other thing was the water in the shower wasn’t that hot but given it was summer this wasn’t a huge problem. All in all would happily stay again.
