Hotel Flora

It was very well located and quiet. Breakfast every day was lovely and served by very pleasant staff members. Front desk staff members were very helpful with locations of shops and restaurant reservations. Charming little hotel bar that made tasty Spritz.

As mentioned in what we liked the hotel employees are very welcoming and accommodating to guests. We did have one encounter with one of the owners which was a bit testy on his part. Maybe he was having a bad day but he might learn a little from the folks who he employs about guest relations.

I don’t normally write reviews but the service at Hotel Flora was totally impeccable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Patient and kind people. Beautifully decorated. Upgraded on arrival. Perfect location. With an intimacy and homeliness that is so often missing in larger hotels. I, on the other hand, was a less than perfect guest - late to checkout, with a temperamental credit card and a bleary hangover. All the while, Tommaso was incredibly kind and patient, never doubting that the payment would go through and even putting together a little breakfast for me while I called the bank. I could not recommend the Flora more highly. A really charming place.

Hotel Flora is in the best location - a short walk from Piazza San Marco and all the vaporetto stops there, and an even shorter one to the vaporetto and Alilaguna stop at Giglio. So, on arrival from the airport, no dragging of suitcases down crowded alleys to far corners of the city. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, and Mr Romanelli the owner is never far away and is full of useful information about his city. And a special 'bravissimo' for the cheerful barman. Breakfast is a delight - delicious orange juice, fruit, nuts, yoghurt, croissants and pastries, and good coffee, and the calm efficiency of the guys in charge has to be seen to be believed. Not even a local power cut could faze them - they just carried on! Our room was fine - quiet and clean - and the bed was very comfortable. It was our second stay at Hotel Flora, and we very much hope we shall return. We certainly do not intend to stay anywhere else in Venice.

The continental breakfast was tasty and the coffee delicious. Our room, which had a garden view, was large and quiet with a supremely comfortable bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There was neither internal nor external noise disturbance. The hotel’s location was perfect for our needs.

The en-suite bathroom was rather small, but given the age of the property there was little or nothing that can be done to improve that. We coped perfectly.

Hotel Flora is like a precious jewel in Venezia. It is located close to the Grand Canal and a traghetto stop. It is so close to San Marco Piazza and Basilica di San Maria della Salute and Accademia Gallery and Peggy Guggenheim Art Gallery and some of the Gondeliers and some amazing shops and bars and restaurants. One of the most wonderful things about Hotel Flora is it’s beautiful interior garden for relaxing after a busy day or as a retreat when the crowds are too much. The rooms are cosy and very clean and have windows that can be opened for fresh air and the smell of croissants baking each morning and the sound of birds and bells and the hum of life on the Grand Canal. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and appear to be happy working at this wonderful hotel. We loved our time there and recommend it highly.

The courtyard is really special and incredible to have so close to the main square. Breakfasts and an evening drink there were a real highlight. We were surprised how quiet it was (sound wise) throughout the hotel. Our room was bigger than we were expecting and the breakfasts were good too. The staff were friendly and helpful (the walking route they marked on the map was great). I would recommend staying here and will hopefully revisit!

the bathroom was a little dated but that’s visible in the photos and was fine. it would have been extra helpful if the staff had told us about the vogalonga event (which happens annually) when we arrived, so we could plan our day trip to the islands around it. Also would have been good to know where to buy return boat tickets to the airport (as the process is different to the ACT tickets) when I asked about where to get the boat from and for timetable details. However, the staff were so helpful overall, these are just minor points which would have assisted us.

The room was small and the temperature was warm . The air conditioning didn’t take the heat off. The breakfast was a nice touch and the croissant was delicious. Cappuccino was great too. I enjoyed having the bar and complimentary tour of Murano was a nice touch. The staff was incredible and always gave good suggestions for places to eat. They went above and beyond to help you navigate. The outside courtyard and decor was charming. The hotel was quiet and in a less busy location. I would recommend the hotel.

Size and temperature of the room.

It's a very cozy and boutique hotel. I wish we would have stayed later in the spring when the weather is warmer so that we could have spend more time in the very nice garden area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location of hotel was perfect for visiting the attractions. Room was comfortable and clean. Mostly quiet, but we were next to the elevator and could hear folks from time to time, but the hotel is small enough that it wasn't an issue as there weren't many folks coming and going. Breakfast was very nice.

My only negative comment was the wait for breakfast. It seemed that all of the hotel occupants were arriving for breakfast at the same time which overwhelmed the staffing a bit. It did delay getting a seat and the services was just okay as they were having to run around to try and keep everyone happy. Not a complaint, but definitely a staffing issue (as many places are facing right now).

Hotel Flora is something special. You feel it when you walk towards the entrance. Stuck hidden in the shopping district of San Marco, this Boutique hotel blends in well with it's surroundings as well as having a style of its own. The Romanelli family have been operating the hotel for over 50 years and you can see that it has been well constructed and thought out. It is a mixture of vintage and modern Venice and feels more like a private apartment than a typical hotel. There is a bar and garden downstairs which can be enjoyed at any part of the day and the levels leading up to the room look like something out of a luxury doll house. The receptionists are very helpful and give you wonderful suggestions about what to do in the city outside of the usual hot spots. We only had a couple of days here so we didn't get time to explore other islands of Venice, but when we come back we definitely will. The room was clean and had such a wonderful style of modern and old, the window also overlooked the garden and it really felt as if you were living privately away from the crowds of the Carnival. A wonderful place to unwind and to recharge the body for endless days of discovering this beautiful city. The cleaners were also friendly and tried to assist us whenever they could with our luggage by directing us the right way down to the ground level. We were also fortunate enough to catch the last vaporetto to the airport, as we were running late after having a big day out with the help of one of the receptionists. We were told that there was a vaporetto stop around the corner of the hotel so we just ran for it - we only had 3 minutes to get there haha. Every detail in Hotel Flora is a work of art and it's thanks to the staff that make it such a unique and beautiful place to stay at.

This is a very lovely small family hotel. We were a group of 8 with several being first time visitors to Italy. The garden area was a wonderful spot for us to gather for breakfast, during the day for a coffee, and just before going out at night for a drink. Our rooms varied in size according to what we had booked. The triple for my husband and myself and also teenage granddaughter was huge! But even the smaller double or single rooms were so nice and everyone said they enjoyed this much more than a big hotel. All the modern amenities though, including great a/c and the nicest serving staff ever. Breakfast was perfect for us - cappuccino, hot chocolate for the kids, different croissants and pastries and the yummiest yogurt with fruit and granola. Thank you for making our grandchildren's first days in Italy so special!
