The hotel looks quite new. The rooms are spacious (for Japanese hotels that is). We got a welcome drink voucher (matcha latte, but can be replaced with a soft drink) that could be used on any days. Bathroom amenities (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner) were quite nice. They were the same Japanese brand that a high-end ryokan provided. Location is halfway between Kyoto station (10 minute walk) and Kawaramachi shopping district. There are some places to eat nearby, but overall is a quiet area. The staff was quite helpful to arrange luggage forwarding. However we would have had to drop off the luggage by 9AM a day before checkout, so we did not use the service.

Internet connection was quite spotty, in our room at least. We got two towels for two adults and a 9yo child. Extra towels would have costed extra. Towels were replaced daily, as with all Japanese hotels. However we could have reused the towels instead of sharing it with our son every day. The lift always stops at the reception on the 2F, even if you go direct from ground floor to your room. Presumably this is for the hotel to check who enters the rooms. Location is not the most convenient if you want to make the most of your JR Pass. Kyoto is a walkable city though, so wasn't a concern for us. Taxis are relatively good value as well (comparable to Singapore).

Localisation of the hotel is very good. It is quite close to the Kyoto Station but also to Nishiki Market where you can find grate food but also buy some souvenirs. Bus transport is the best idea to travel between almost all tourists attractions. Personel of the hotel was very kind and professional. I recommend this hotel if you planning trip to Kyoto.

Size of the room was as expected however it looked smaller due to set-up of furnitures. The room was also to dark as there was small window with building which is quite natural but we would need more bright lights to compensate it.

Staff were friendly and very welcoming. The mushroom toastie for breakfast was really tasty, on the morning I left it was before the breakfast slot, so they made me a very good cheese and cucumber roll :) The water provided by the hotel was a nice thought as it was very hot whilst I was in Kyoto. I also appreciated the refreshing free drink upon arrival!

The room smelt a bit musty when I arrived, I think it is because other visitors do not leave the extractor fan on long enough in the bathroom and do not open the window. It was clean though.

Everything was very nice. Very welcoming staff. Helpful during all the stay. You get a welcome drink what is a nice geasture. You can leave luggage for free. Amazing breakfast (no issues with making a vegetarian meal). Nice size room which fits 3 good size beds & still allows you to move & keep a luggage out of the way. Good location, close to metro but also walking distance to many attractions. Shops & restaurants just outside. Rooms were clean & although they say they don't clean them everyday, they take the rubbish out & exchange towers.

All fantastic

Great location, it is perfect since it is both close to the main Kyoto station and not far from the Gion area. There are convenience stores, restaurants, and cafes very close. The hotel itself is a great value for money, relatively bigger rooms than those I had previously encountered, great bathroom amenities, very quiet despite the reviews saying the opposite. The staff is polite, helpful and can understand English quite well.

Could not think of anything really.

The room was spacious and the hotel was walking distance from Kyoto Station. My high rating is mainly due to the staff. I learned of a restaurant that I wanted a reservation at, and most popular restaurants in Japan don't take reservations directly from foreign callers. I selfishly messaged my travel companion (her Japanese is better than mine) and the hotel at the same time. It turned out that my friend's Japanese was good enough for the restaurant to be comfortable with providing us with a reservation - but the staff at this hotel had also already called. I had to awkwardly explain that I had already acquired a reservation. The hotel staff did not hold it against me, because during our stay, there was a place I wanted to have breakfast at that would only accept reservations made by hotels. I shamelessly asked the hotel staff if they would mind calling, and they did not mind in the least.

I have no complaints at all. Most of the places on my itinerary were a long walk/metro ride to reach, but that had nothing to do with the location of the hotel - some were far in the north, and some were far in the south of Kyoto.

-The staff were very helpful and friendly -The room was spacious by japanese standards, and was very clean. The fridge was fantastic for making beverages very cold, it really worked! The beds were comfortable with two pillows each - The bathroom had a soaking tub which was very relaxing, overall the bathroom was very comfortable. - Although there is no room cleaning service, complimentary water, tea bags, and fresh towels were left outside our room every day, and they took our garbage away. They do however have a cleaning option for long stays. -The location was superb, walking distance to subway, short walk to Kyoto station (huge plus), and many shops and restaurants nearby. The street is lined with hotels and feels very luxurious and very safe. - There were multiple coin laundromats within short walking distance which was convenient for our long stay.

Nothing bad to say, it was just fantastic.

Big room, friendly staff, clean. Loved the free welcome drink. Bed is comfy. If you want to have a break from the endless crowds of Kyoto, this is nicely out of the way. 20-30 min walk to the big touristy areas.

They won't clean your room for stays 4 nights and under (but will change towels and take out trash). I think they should update to keycards as it is much safer for guest access. Location is a bit inconvenient compared to other placecs we have stayed.

The hotel has excellent location close to the main sightseeing attractions of Kyoto. The staff was very helpful and polite. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Overall we had a very good stay.

The breakfast consisted of only 5 preset American options, which were all variations of green salad, eggs, bread, bacon and potatoes. Our room was rather small for 3 persons and suitcases.

good location, quiet rooms. However, the service from the staff, particularly the manager, Hideki Hasegawa, was exceptional. I wanted to find a friend I had known in Kyoto 27 years ago. Hideki did the detective work ( my Japanese being non-existent) and contacted my friend. Consequently, we spent the next day with my friend and also caught up with some other people I had known all that time ago. other staff also helped us book restaurants for dinner and advised us on how to get to various tourist attractions.

we found the room a little stuffy.
