This hotel amazed me. I've never stayed in such a beautiful and classy hotel before. It was modern yet had the oriental authentic beauty as well, such as the lighted windows. From the kettle to the Music on the TV, it was the perfect way to relax. Staff were exceptional, friendly and showed me the way to my hotel via the elevator. They also complimented me on my Japanese, which was a huge honour. They also directed me to a local massage venue. If staying here, it is well worth using the public bath. Breakfast was very good, but the evening meal was one of the best meals i've ever had in my life. They had a great selection of Sake's (rice wine) too. I really felt like royalty being here. Thank you so much for the amazing experience, Mitsui Garden Hotel.

That I only had one night here. When I next come to Kyoto, I hope to stay here again.

Excellent location, grandiose Japanese breakfast, stylish décoration, much welcome clean and relaxing onsen at the end of long discovery days

Not much really, maybe just the delivery trucks parking in front of the restaurant but given the old area I am not sure what else they could do. You could change the breakfast menu which you prepare every day, last minute, every 3 days so that it does not become repetitive for those who stay longer

It's was good. More room for improvement for the information. I was given a room with a window that can not be open (locked and sealed). I am aware that my stay was the short one only 2 nights. I would be nice if Hotel's rep would inform me earlier via email.

The restaurant needs more training for the service staff..To be more international, as this hotel is so beautiful + classic + clean!! Restaurant service staff should be more "informative" in informing its customers of the rules. Example: ONLY cash, no credit card before we have our meal. And no so strict interm of taking reservations for in-house guests. Tissue or serviette should be given and offer for each table.

The Reception staff were particularly kind, attentive and thoughtful. The secure area of the hotel led through a sliding door directly into a public area where the Reception Desk was situated and as one went through that door, one was always greeted in the morning (in Japanese) by the staff. A great start to every day.

Not much space for luggage around the beds - maybe not a problem in double rooms.

The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable, I enjoyed the mood lighting settings, it was very romantic! I also thought the rock garden at the front entrance was really pretty, and the staff knowledgeable about local places to eat. My Dad and sister were staying at a different hotel and they actually came to my hotel and paid for the buffet breakfast here because it was so far superior to theirs!

The spa facilities were nice, but I didn't think the spa pyjamas were super flattering unfortunately. They weren't uncomfortable, they just weren't all that cute.

The typical Japanese breakfast and the Japanese buffet were outstanding. We got 2 coupons per day to trade with the gift shop next door belonging to the hotel. The premises of the hotel were really beautiful and in accordance with the zen spirit of Kyoto. The staff was very polite and helpful. It was very easy to eat out nearby the hotel whose location was also convenient to take the bus to reach major zen temple sites as well as the bamboo grove.

The mattress was a little bit too soft for my wife, whereas it was very good for me. We advise using the washing machines during the afternoon as we had to wait in line at night.

Wonderful staff who would always greet guests with a smile. Rooms were cosy and bed was nice and soft. Location was peaceful and quiet, away from the main roads. Self service laundry facilities and a good sized onsen on-site.

The breakfast wasn’t as amazing as it looked in the photos, in hindsight I would have just paid per meal rather than adding to the room rate. The male onsen had an odd smell in the change room which may have been from the damp floor. The hotel is a bit difficult to reach by public transport, so we needed to use a taxi to get around with the family – although there are bus routes on the main roads. Laundry has only two machines, so it is difficult to find availability.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Greeted everytime, by name, when we arrived, said goodbye when we left. They helped out with recommendations and directions and getting a taxi in the rain last second. It was just comforting knowing they were so helpful and pleasant. The decor was modern but still traditional. The onsen was relaxing and clean. Our room was massive compared to one we stayed in while in Shinjuku. It was all just lovely.

The laundry machine didn't dry our wash very well so we had to hang out clothes in our room to air dry. No big deal but it was literally the only slightly less than desirable thing we experienced.
