Hotel M Matsumoto

Interesting location on the top floor of a mall. The staff was friendly. The common area is really nice with all kinds of ammenities like tables to dine at, microwaves, water and coffee stations, desserts to buy, and a computer station with several computers at your disposal. The room itself is simple and clean. Somebody in another review commented the windows don't open, but ours did. We had fresh air whenever we wanted. Hotel was a pleasant 20min walk to Mastumoto Castle(must visit).

The bed mattresses! So uncomfortable! Please Matsumoto M, invest in some decent mattresses. Otherwise, the hotel is great.

We stayed in the ladies’ capsule section and it was excellent- aside from the capsule bed, you also get a tall locker, desk, and some floor space with a curtain so you have privacy and space. It’s really nicely done. The bathrooms were clean (little mould on the shower ceilings, but it is Japan after all and things go mouldy here quickly) and the common lounge area was open and welcoming. There were lots of amenities to use, for those who needed them, and free coffee and multiple types of tea. We didn’t use the public bath owing to small tattoos- they might want to review this, I don’t think they’ll have too many gangsters to worry about, somehow! Staff were very kind, all spoke English (even when I started in Japanese) and overall it was a great experience.

The entire hotel was heated to much above our comfortable level- even in a skirt and a tshirt, I was sweating even whilst sitting in the common area, and the capsule was too warm to sleep well. If only it wasn’t so hot, we’d have rated it a 10.

What a great surprise. Excellent location, few minutes walk from both bus n train station. We could store all our luggage before check in with ease n come back later. Bedrooms were surprisingly big for a Japanese budget hotel. Enough space even for our snowboard bags. Note that im talking about Japanese standards. Double bed was small but enough for me n my husband ( we are not super big n tall). Everything worked fine and they also have free bikes for rental which is very convenient.

Nothing really. Onsen was closed when my husband try to use it but that was not really a big issue.

deluxe single woman room very spacious. Enough space for all kind of luggage, room had own locker and several charging possibilities. Bike rental was for free for set amount of time, however more than sufficient to explore the area. Great common area which can be used throughout the day with hot water, tea for free. Wasabi plantation not far from Matsumoto.

Note - people with tattoo will not be allowed to the hotel Onsen, not terrible, but consider it in case you have a tattoo.

Great location, 5 mins walk from the station and bus stops. 15-20 min walk to the castle and art museum. I liked having the extra space with the superior pod so you had somewhere to get dressed, somewhere to put your luggage and a small desk. The bathroom was clean and modern with plenty of free toiletries and use of hair dryers. For 500 yen I thought the breakfast was pretty decent, particularly the Japanese breakfast with fish, rice and miso soup. Good communal area with free drinks. Amazing choice of manga to read!

The pods were very warm and the fan didn't seem to do much 🥵 I don't think I'd want to use them in summer.

Very very clean place. People who work there are really efficient! The mattress was maybe a little bit hard and the pillow also but still, I slept like a baby. The shower is perfect. They provide you everything you need to feel clean and fresh! The wifi was very good. Near the train station and the castle. Perfect.

The lockers are ridiculously small for a backpack. But I left my backpack on top of it and like we are in Japan nothing gonna arrive...so it was not a real problem for me. The only problem could be for light sleeper in the early morning when others make noise. But the hotel cannot do anything about that...

I cancelled my previous stay and they waived my cancellation fee. Then I came and the hotel was so good! The bunk bed had its own private cubic so it didn't feel claustrophobic. Got towel and slippers, which is rare when you stay at a capsule room. The shared bathroom has free amenities such as hairband, cotton bud, towel, even razor! Location is near train station, bus terminal, and konbinis. The staff were wonderful, they went out of their ways to help at 9 pm when I told them I lost my face wash (which was my fault). I love it!

Well equipped - sleepwear, amenities like toothbrush n slippers provided Rooms are gender separated (ladies require separate pass to enter the area) Suggest to request for bottom bed if u're bad at climbing. It's rather hard to climb to the upper bed.

Can be noisy if you've inconsiderate neighbours The blinds doesn't cover fully, some light slip through the blinds. The locker is kinda too slim, unable to fit a small luggage in.

What an amazing hotel. Super cozy and clean, with a very helpful staff. The rooms are very clean and quite big. The bed is very comfortable. We loved the breakfast served there and access to a beautiful Japanese bath. We were very pleased with location, and also could borrow the bicycles to be able to discover the city. I wish all the hotels would be like this one. Definitely one of our most favorite stay in Japan!

The capsules were very comfy and I was able to sleep well. The hotel was very clean and modern. The location is also very convenient for accessing the train station. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Matsumoto!

Just a minor comment: The hotel is located on the sixth floor and shares the first floor elevator space with the other businesses in the building. The shared first floor space had a bad smell. It isn't the hotel's fault, but it would be nice if it could be improved somehow.
