Location: just a few minutes walk from the train station, with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It is also within reasonable distance from the castle. So no need to take any transport while within the city centre Room: despite having a small floor area, they have utilized it smartly to not make it feel claustrophobic. Not for someone with big luggages though The welcome drink and free morning coffee is a nice icing to the cake

The bathroom is quite cramped The white light feels too bright for a hotel room. I prefer the usual warm colors for an ambient feel And while at hindsight it feels easier, I personally do not like their elevator system when tapping the keycard would automatically engage the floor you're staying in without pressing. It will just make it go slower if you're intending to stop on a different floor, especially during heavy guest traffic.

Free coffee, beer and ochazuke. Great location (5 min walk from station and 15 min walk to castle). Super clean. Public bath was very nice. Had a deluxe twin room and it was very spacious.

Free drink in the evening was a nice touch. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and staff were perfectly friendly and helpful. The hotel was a 4 minute walk away from Matsumoto station and right next to Matsumoto yokocho, a great and lively foodcourt-like place for dinner in the evenings.

Guests with tattoos are not allowed to use the onsen - I know this is common in Japan but definitely feels behind the times. Also the complimentary beauty products were reserved for women only. Not sure why this is the case and feels a little backwards (if not outright sexist). Do not pay for the tried it and it was a strange experience - we were expected clothed, and then there was an additional towel on top of us. All in all not a relaxing massage at all! But nice to experience if not only to say we wouldn't do it again.

Room was quite spacious and nicely decorated, with a small sitting area. It was great to have a washing machine and microwave. Bed was comfortable. Public bath was nice and it was handy to see how busy it was on the TV screen. Abundant breakfast and the happy hour every evening was great. Possibility of in-room massage.

I’d booked well in advance and didn’t remember whether it said anything about not cleaning the room. I was a bit surprised at first but it was fine because the bed was just a duvet cover (easy to pull up to “make” the bed) and you could put towels and rubbish out.

We loved our stay at Matsumoto and this hotel was a large part of it. We had a lovely room, loved the breakfast and the hotel’s location. One of the highlights of our stay was the massage that we booked. My wife said it was one of the best massages she ever had so if you plan to stay at the hotel, it’s highly recommended.

We loved everything about our stay. We especially enjoyed the rich breakfast which was probably the best out of all the hotels we stayed at during our Japan trip.

The room is big than usual japanese hotel room size, and it has a king size bed, pillow is comfortable. There is a 2 seaters sofa and a table near the window, just like what is shown in the picture. The best is that there is a washing machine and a microwave oven in the room. It is very convenient for traveler that travel extended period. Everything is wonderful.

The toliet is quite small, but I would prefer to have the room bigger than giving up the room size to the toliet. Nothing to complain about...

The room was great, comes with microwave, induction stove and washing machine. You can rent the sauces and cooking utensils from the hotel at a small fee. They also provided a rack where you could hang your clothes after using the washing machine in the room! They also have a live update on the availability of all the washing machines and dryers available in the hotel. Room comes with both aircon and heating too! Best feature for when you wanna dry your clothes without a dryer!

We walked in after 5mins of booking. We needed two rooms and one of the rooms still needed to be made up and the staff did this immediately. The reception staff were friendly and spoke good English which was great after a trying day. The hotel offers an arrival drink which was nice, however this was in the breakfast area that lacks ambience. Breakfast included with the booking was great.

The beds were comfortable but on the hard side which seems to be a Japanese standard.

Close to station, excellent staff, good breakfast, comfortable and functional room. There was a small stain on the bedding which I noticed upon entering my room but upon mentioning it to the front desk they sent someone up right away. The complimentary drink in the evening was a nice touch. I chose a room that came with a washing machine and microwave. Very convenient especially if you’re staying more than one night .

Nothing The double room was spacious enough for one person but it may feel a bit cramped for two.

Breakfast is superb. The best we have had in any hotel on any trip to Japan. Great variety and samples of local specialties. Laundry facilities were a welcome sight, the complimentary jinbei were clean and cozy, the room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful and made a reservation at a restaurant for us. The location is great,

Not sure there is much to complain about. The pillows were a bit firm compared to what we're used to but that's about it.
