Absolutely amazing! I swear Izumi-san has to be one of the nicest people on the planet. He offered to drive us to and from town and is on hand if you need a lift back to the B and B! The breakfast (both Japanese and Western-style) was unbelievable, I am vegetarian and Izumi-san was able to accommodate it very well. うまい! The room is out of this world, with so many small details that make the stay unforgettable. For example, the deepest bathtub I have seen IN MY LIFE (with hot spring salts), thicker-than-normal mattresses on the futon which makes them more comfortable, and a balcony with a small table and chairs. The room is extremely clean and perfectly minimalist. The location is STUNNING. The balcony looks out into the forest with a small stream/waterfall (you can hear the rushing water). We went in summer (the cicadas were deafening, but now I miss them) and we saw a mother and baby wild deer outside from the balcony! They were really close, and it was such a magical experience. The little lodge and location are exemplary of a place three times the price. Stay here. You won't regret it :) Our stay was phenomenal. Thank you so much, Izumi-san

What an evil question, suggesting that there is something not to like about this place.

Nestled in a serene and secluded spot on the outskirts of Nikko, the B&B managed by Mr. Izumi offers a delightful retreat for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a personalized experience. Mr. Izumi's impeccable hospitality shines as he effortlessly caters to guests, providing not only a comfortable Japanese-style room with an en suite soaking tub but also valuable insights into the local area. The peaceful view of the backyard forest and stream from the room enhances the overall charm. The thoughtful touches, such as offering to pick up luggage and providing transportation to nearby attractions, showcase his commitment to guest satisfaction. The culinary delights served at breakfast, crafted by Mr. Izumi himself, are nothing short of masterpieces. During our stay, we generally used the public buses but on one occasion. we decided to embark on a scenic downhill trek from the B&B to the Nikko train station. Along the way, we explored the World Heritage shrines and temples, then ate dinner in town before taking a taxi back. While this approach worked well for us, it might not be suitable for everyone, especially those looking for a more centrally located accommodation.

The remote location does pose challenges for those wanting to use the B&B as a central hub for sightseeing in Nikko. It's advisable to plan your day accordingly, leaving the B&B after breakfast and returning in the evening.

It was a beautiful B&B just a little up the mountain. A very calm and nice Japanese style room with a little balcony overlooking the forest behind the B&B with a mountain stream. The owner Izumi-san offered to pick us up from the train station, and we gladly took him up on it. Izumi-san gave us a map and several tips on what to do and with what weather that would be best. Very kind and thoughtful of our interests and also offered us to bring us back to the train on the final day. You can quite easily get there and around by bus, it is a small walk from the B&B to the bus stop. Every morning Izumi-san cooked us a Japanese style breakfast, always a bit different and very tasty. From the entire vacation, me and my friend found that staying at this B&B was the best out of all the accommodations we been to during this vacation in Japan. Nikko itself we found we could do and see plenty in a few days. However, we most definitely will return here in a different season!

We loved our two days staying in this amazing B&B. Like all the reviews highlight he is so happy to ensure you have the best time in Nikko. Izumi offered to pick us up from the station when we arrived which was great. The following day he dropped us off at the train station so we could sort out bus passes etc. He kindly dropped us back at the station in the morning we left. The room is very big & very comfortable & the balcony is amazing overlooking the forest / stream. The bath was great & the bath salts are to die for. Overall a most wonderful time. We will definitely return on our next visit.

Nothing - Izumi is so helpful & kind. It was our best stay in Japan.

This was my favourite place to stay in Japan. Izumi is an exceptional host, epitomising omotenashi - he made us feel completely at home in his lovely B&B. His place is so peaceful... looking out into nature with the sound of the stream running past outside; the rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Izumi was very helpful, picking us up from the train station, dropping us off in town for dinner, and recommending places to go and things to do... and the breakfast he cooked was delicious. I do hope we can visit again some day!

Izumi (the host) is a beautiful gentleman who looks after his guests so well. My husband and I speak little-to-no Japanese but he was able to speak English to help us find our feet. He gave us the option of a traditional Japanese breakfast for our stays, or a more westernised/American style - we opted for both meals to be Japanese style, which we are so happy about choosing. He taught us how to eat it, and what it was that we were eating. It was delicious and he made it slightly different each time for variety. The rooms were cosy, traditional and well cared for. The futon beds had an extra layer of padding and as such were surprisingly quite comfortable! Izumi offered to pick us up from the main train station as it's a bit of a walk away, but we had our own car. He wanted to make sure guests were comfortable and safe and getting the most out of Nikko, of which he provided us with a map and key places to visit while we were there. Thank you Izumi for the lovely stay :)

I can't thank you enough Izumi-san for his hospitality, courteous and went out of his way to make sure we are comfortable and well taken care of. I read from other viewers but did not want to impose. Izumi-san responded promptly to any questions I have, he offered to meet us on arrival at train station to take our luggage and dropped us off at Nikko shrines area. We stayed for 3 nights and early evening he would WhatsApp us to see if we needed a ride back. Izumi-san gave us good tips/suggestions: best to go to Nikko station early for bus to Yumoto Onsen since bus is often packed at 1st station, by the time it reaches 2nd Tobu stations usually not much space left (much longer line at Tobu station and you might miss the full bus). We bought 2 days pass and used the bus for visiting and trekking to Yudaki falls, Senjo-ga-hara marshland, Ryuzu falls, Lake Chuzenji & Kegon Falls. B&B Izumi is in a very quiet and beautiful setting. We didn't mind some walking from bus stop or even from town to the place. Breakfast was delicious, we chose Japanese breakfast and Izumi offered wonderful American sandwich breakfast box for our early departure and took us to the Nikko station. Thank you Izumi-san. The room was comfortable I like the spacious bathtub and sitting shower combo. I was pleasantly supprised with all the nice and detail ammenities (toiletries, Onsen bathsalts, Yukata...) our breaksfast room can also be used in the evening for eating on our own (till 9pm)

My wife and I travelled to Nikko from Tokyo for 3 nights, staying with Izumi-San. Izumi-San picked us up from the train station which was lovely. Upon arrival, we were blown away. The location of the B&B was stunning. The room is nestled up against a beautiful running creek looking out into a national park. The sound of running water, the outlook and the deer grazing nearby was nothing short of magical. Izumi-San was an amazing host. His cooking was exceptional and his kindness and hospitality was incredible. This is definitely one of the best places I have ever stayed and I highly reccomend it to anyone looking to experience the magic of Nikko.

Staying at Izumi-sans B&B was the highlight of my stay in Japan. I had wanted to chase the autumn leaves in Nikko and not only did we have a wonderful day walking in Ryuokyo Ravine but with Izumi-san's recommendation we went to a wonderful public onset and local sushi restaurant. The room was just perfect for us- traditional, cosy and warm. Our balcony opened out onto a waterfall and we even saw a deer. Breakfast was wonderful. The only thing I wish it that would could have stayed for longer. Thank you to Izumi-san for his kindness and warmth.

Itzumi has been the perfect host, he communicated with us prior arrival and gave us a lot of information about things that we had to see and do. He went above and beyond by picking us up at the Nikko train station, and dropped us off when we left (despite being early). He also made a very nice breakfast, and prepared the little snack bag the day we left. The room was great, perfect size, yukatas and sleepers were available, water, little matcha cookies. We had the best sleep in this accommodation and we definitely recommend anyone to book.

Honestly, everything was perfect. Thanks Itzumi!
