The vegan dinner, in particular, was delicious and our hosts went out of their way to provide me with Almond milk for breakfast. An act that was much appreciated. The bedroom was comfortable with stunning mountain views. I embraced the unique style and decor of the communal area which was an added bonus: it was great to sit on the sofa and chat to fellow travellers. Our hosts, Suzuki-san and Ken-san, could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Their warmth, as well as the personal touches, made for a superior stay in Nikko.
The water from the shower took a little time to heat up; a consequence, possibly, of the location and amenities available. The smell of wood burning was an issue on entering the bedroom. The presence of an air purifier, however, soon rectified the situation.

Kindest people !! The owners are lovely, definitely made our stay memorable. We asked for few different favors and they were happy to help. The owner also gave us a few lifts to Nikko station and to Kirifuri waterfalls which was very convenient for us. The hostel itself is old but nice and cozy. There is no option to cook but a buffet in a reasonable price is offered and great food. Also you can buy some snacks and beers and wine if you like. Location is about 15-20 minutes from Nikko station, depending on your pace. A bit uphill to the hostel from the station but nothing serious. The price is very much affordable and I found the value for money very good. Highly recommended!! Enjoy 😄

I recently spent a weekend with my family in their family room. The place is quaint and quiet, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were super friendly and accommodating—they even drove us down the mountain when we missed the morning shuttle, which was extremely kind of them. The dinner was also very good and there’s a large bath on the first floor. If you’re looking for a chill spot with great service and English-speaking staff, I definitely recommend this lodge!
Some may find the location a bit far from the station, so if accessibility is a priority then it may not be the best spot. It’s alright for those who enjoy walking/don’t mind hailing a taxi though! (The shuttle bus only comes and goes twice a day)

The host (Suzuki) and staff members went out of their way to mail back my personal items which I had mistakenly left in the lodge. Am really grateful for that. 🙏🏻 Apart from the location, the lodge is perfect. Lodge was clean, tidy and cozy. The amenities were sufficient for a few days of stay. Nothing to complain about.
The location is a distance away from the station. Suggest that unless you have your own private transport, to book the sister park lodge closer to station. Also there was only 1 shower for the whole building. Not really a big issue.

The hosts were amazing, warm, and friendly. The meals they made felt like a proper family dinner, even though we were sat at our own tables. Location was perfect for us, a 20 minute walk from the train station on the edge of the forest. The drinks and snacks that were available to buy in the living room was also great since the local convenience store was a bit further away.
Cleanliness could be a little better in the communal bathrooms, thinking about the men's. However, it isn't something to have a large negative impact on our stay.

This cozy lodge out in the mountains was everything I had hope for. Ken & Sei were extremely welcoming & treated me like a family member the moment I arrived. The huge lounge area was the perfect place to meet other travelers & share ur stories..I loved how accessible it was to the UNESCO park, The fishing pond, and Kirifuri Falls. Will definitely be back again.
The raining weather in JUNE which had nothing to do with the lodge but after a day of hiking & the thought of "it's going to rain" puts a thought in your mind that u have to hurry back or get soaked and since almost everything closes at 1900 there is no reason to stay out past sunset.

Very cozy place, it was nice we could also have (good!) dinner and breakfast there for some extra cost and the people were friendly. The bath was an extra nice surprise.
We had asked about the option of having a shuttle bus pick us up from the station but we didn’t really get a reply about it and ended up walking (but the walk there was pretty and it was fine), we did get a ride on the way back.

Very outgoing lodge! When you enter from the entrance, the romantically burning pechka and nostalgic cosy lounge wait for you! It absolutely charms you all! The main male staff (owner?) is calm but can speak English well because he's been living in the States. Other staffs are also able to speak English. So don't worry. The building itself is a bit old, however AC works and the public bathroom has hot water 24 hours. There are Kleenex boxes in each rooms. Very convenient! I stayed in a dormitory room and rockers are there. The sockets are laid at the floor under the beds. AC can work. The bed is quite comfortable with warm heaters. Of course, each bed have small lights and curtains. The refrigerator inside is so clean. No worry to put your foods. Outside there is the terrace and small garden. I saw Nepalese people were doing BBQ. I can write more. But the most attractive stuff here is the lounge with pechka. The big TV is set there, and sofas and tables are ready. The atmosphere is hilarious. It has very nice mood to associate with other tourists. A lot of nationalities. I used to get into Western guys. If you have a higher English skill, you'd sure extremely enjoy the rich conversation. Tourists there are having a fun to talk about trips of Japan. Unlike other shady Japanese hostels, the staffs here are globalized and never stop you guys enjoying there! So I highly recommend you folks trying this lodge!
Not that I don't have complaints. But mostly I got satisfied throughout this time. So I personally hesitate to tell negative things. Only one point is that the cleaning staff behaves a little weird and used to clean only some of guests and does not clean others' beds. She's old and can't speak English. Probably, her eyes are weak. Better not to confront her seriously if you are nervous fellows. Needless to say, almost of Japanese tourists (including local Asian Japanese) are unable to speak English.

This unusual hotel has so much character and an unusually friendly feel to it. It seems to attract young travellers and it's one of the few places I've been where guests actually sit and chat with one another in the comfortable lounge. The dinner and breakfast were also surprisingly good with a limited selection well prepared. Set in green forests it is still only a few minutes drive from Nikko and the hosts provide a transport service to the station in the morning and pick-up in the evening on request. Small yet perfectly formed - I will definitely book here again if I am lucky enough to come back to this beautiful region.
There was nothing not to like. Friendly staff went to great lengths to supply what you needed.

- Comfortable & heated mattress for cold winter! - Rustic style of the building and the living room, the authentic looking bath. - The remote location in the middle of nature / mountain, beautiful under the snow. I saw some deer on my way back from the nearby Onsen! - Reactivity and empathy of the owner who offered to relocate me closer to the other Park Lodge next to the station due to the heavy snow.
- The combo of a little old (not super well insulated...) and a little dirty (bins full, dusty living room, smelly restroom) made it a bit uncomfortable. Conclusion : fair for the price & location! Happy I stayed there during such magical weather, but I would probably pick a different place at a different time of the year.
