A beautiful lodge to stay in. The star is the onsen - there are 2 onsen rooms in a separate building outside with a maple tree on the walk out. There is a clever light system that allows you to know when the onsens are in use by other guests - plenty of time to be able to use. The onsen rooms are beautifully built and were such a delight to use - there was a private outside space for one of them as well. As the onsens are private, it is fine for people with tattoos to use. There is a large communal area where you have breakfast and can also relax and prepare other meals. Hot and cold water available as well as microwaves and toaster for preparing meals. There is a lovely children's play area as well. Breakfast is served in the morning with a choice of different pastries and drinks that you order the night before. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Good location - 10 minutes by bus from Tobu Nikko station, 5 minutes by bus to the shrines, temples and Shinyko bridge, 5 minute walk to Daiyu river and about 30-40 minutes by bus to Lake Chuzenji. The beds were comfortable and there was good amount of space for storage in the rooms. Table, chairs and TV in each room.

The bathroom for the rooms are quite small, however we barely used ours as we used the onsen and therefore showered in the onsen rooms.

Amazing place just outside Nikko city, easy to get by car (free parking in front). Supermarket close to the property and direct access to nice walking path towards the city and temples (we did full round trip hike of around 10km in under 3 hours). Place self has nice common area and fine hot water baths for private use. Rooms are simple but clean, same holds for the bed. Our 2y old loved the place, very much kid oriented and super helpful / nice staff.

No big things, keep in mind breakfast is fine with oven-baked rolls (you can choose night before) but simple. It’s very clearly stated and actually pretty good!

This accomodation has a warm and homely feel .The rooms were comfortable but having the shared lounge dining area added to the space you could occupy and a chance to catch up with other guests. The two private onsen bathrooms were a luxurious after a day on your feet visiting temples or walking in Nikko National Park. The breakfast of delightful tasty pastries was excellent. The only down side was that it is hard to find restaurants to eat at night, close by and the buses from Nikko town (2kms) stop at 7pm. Most cafes and small eateries seem to close by 3 or 4pm when we were there in April. We highly recommend this lovely place.

Lack of eateries for night time dining within walking distance. But there us a well stocked Lawons Food Store about 700m away

The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful, providing a perfect retreat. A shopping mart is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk away, making it easy to pick up essentials. The villa offers a private onsen, which was a fantastic addition to the stay, and they have an efficient system to know when the onsen is occupied. The free breakfast was a great start to the day, and the cozy shared area with complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the free toiletries provided were a nice bonus.

The villa is quite a distance from the train station. While you can take a bus from the train station, I recommend taking a taxi if you have luggage, as the buses are often packed and don't come very frequently.

The hotel had a very cozy and homely feeling. I liked the lounge area with the small fireplace. Onsen was very spacious and clean. There were daily necessities (shampoo, body wash, facial wash & skin care) and a hair dryer. Room for a solo traveler was big and comfy. The receptionist was very friendly and I liked the information booklet that showed dining options around the area. I also liked how we could choose from a variety of pastries for breakfast, coffee and tea was also provided. Overall, I really liked my stay and would definitely come again when I visit Nikko!

Location is a little far out from the Nikko town area and the nearest supermarket is a bit of a walk away. If you're driving however, it wouldn't be an issue.

Very cosy little villa with a comfy lounge / social area and private onsens. Room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also nice. You get to select 6 items for your breakfast the next day ranging from milk / juice and a selection of pastries. The private onsen was also a god-sent after a tiring day hiking through snowy trails. Location was also decent, within walking distance from the Imperial Villa and Kamangafuchi Abyss (about 20 mins).

A rather quiet location which is a bit far off from any restaurants. There is a supermarket around 5 mins walk away where you can buy some buns / pastries and instant noodles for dinner (no ready meals unfortunately).

The place was absolutely stunning as well as the location. I arrived at the Tobu-Nikko station around 8 pm and when I arrived at the Villa everything was covered in snow and it made everything look more magical. When I walked in the owner kindly welcomed me, I then asked him if there was a konbini around, and he told me they were too far away and drove me to one of them so I could get food for the night! The breakfast worked with a "ticket" system, before 10 PM you would need to fill a ticket with whichever breakfast item you wanted and then post it in a box. The onsen is just outside of the main building and everything is really clean and you can have it all for yourself!!!!

Honestly? I liked everything!

Relaxing in the stone bath with the open-air area was a highlight! We loved the peaceful atmosphere both inside and outside the inn. Very close to Kanmangafuchi Abyss, which makes for a mystical twilight walk straight out of a Ghibli film--can't recommend it enough. Breakfast was delicious, and clear explanations and examples (in English) made the ordering system easy to understand. The kind and friendly staff even helped me by making phone calls and reservations--I truly appreciated it.

It's helpful to be aware that the location is somewhat distant from both the train station or the temple complex. For me, this was fine, because I enjoyed the feeling of a peaceful getaway. The city bus provided a straightforward way to get around town.

Fabulous family run property. The staff was very friendly and the lodge was amazing. The rooms were nice and offered enough space together with the living room that could be used at any time. Free tea and fresh water available at any time. The private onsen was great, especially after coming back after a cold day sight seeing. The free bread breakfast was delicious. The stay was the highlight of our trip!

I have nothing to write here, since we had such a perfect stay! Maybe the busses could run a bit more often, but if there is no bus, the owner offered a ride in his car for free.

Lovely place with a very nice owner and his family. The place is charming, comfortable, the private onsen are really really nice. They borrow you lovely yakuta’s and there are plenty supplies to use (toiletries, hair bands etc). The living room is super cosy. The owner is so nice that they drove us and picked us up from the restaurant in the evening, but you have everything if you want to heat up things and eat there. Not too difficult to find by bus, you stop at bus stop 13 (botanical garden) and you walk 2min further to find the hotel on the same side. We walked from the imperial villa and it was easy. Easy access from all the important sites (by foot OK). I would definitely go back there! Thank you Kono
