Fantastic location with very friendly staff and impeccable service. The food was seasonal, authentic, and obviously prepared with great care. We enjoyed the onsen and the proximity to cultural heritage sites of Nikko. They have a shuttle service to the train station at checkout time, inform them at least the day before.
This is not a negative, but an information for unaccustomed foreign visitors: Please don't expect to communicate in English (eigo). It's very uncommon outside of big cities, and asking for it when the other person can't speak it can lead to the other person's embarrassment. Please try it in Japanese, even if you only know the bare minimum of basic phrases, like me. Use your smartphone's translator, it's okay!

I got to experience delicious kaiseki meal for breakfast and dinner for 3 day 2 nights and they were varied or different for each meal. The staff is really hospitable, they were really nice. The hotspring is also really great. The room is really spacious.

Great old ryokan option within just a few minutes' walk of the Toshogu complex. Truly excellent food and lively, friendly staff. Private rotenburo can be booked, in addition to the use of the large baths (which are available all night long). We appreciated being picked up at the station and taken back on our departure.
The wifi is weak; couldn't log on at all on my computer, but others could on other devices.

Very friendly service staff, especially the two elder ladies who served dinner and breakfast. The Japanese meals purchased as add-ons were incredible - a true taste of Japan with quality food and cooking. Hotel is right at the entrance to the World Heritage site. Authentic Japanese experience with beds and onsen.
Got charged for a minibar item we didn't use.

Nice onsen bath. Very good dinner +dessert, they bring it to your room. And very good breakfast in the dining hall. Very near like a 10minute walk to the Nikko Toshigi Temple.
The room was warm, it took a while to cool down after windows were opened. It was 3rd week of April.

The meals were excellent. The baths were also great including the private bath that I had to a pay a little extra for (~$20).
The property is on the older side but still well taken care of.

Most of the staff are friendly. Very delicious dinner and breakfast. Good Onsen.
There was no bus that stop in front of the hotel anymore. We didn't know that before booking and had to walk uphill with our luggage.
