Located near the beach, with views of the ocean & Mount Santubong. Spacious, clean room with rustic charm of teak & marble and traditional Sarawak craftsmanship, similar vibe to Club Med Phuket. Comfy bedding. Aircon & shower heater functioning. Bathtub & bathroom tiles not slippery when wet. Staff are friendly & helpful, esp. Satang Cafe staff, pool staff & porter/shuttle bus drivers esp. Ramzi who always make sure the kids & I are well looked after. Breakfast was basic, but the taste was flavoursome - love the butter croissant, mee goreng. The a-la-carte menu was great too - love the beef burger & lamb chops. Room service 24 hours. Convenience store at the lobby, opens 9am to 9pm. Within walking distance to Santubong Park, Cultural Village, Damai Central, Permai Rainforest. Guests can collect & eat the mangoes that fell off the trees, esp. the parents snacking on the mangoes at the children pool. We saw a few monkeys & some local cats too.

Mosquito, itchy bugs at Hilltop Pool change rooms & at the roadside if walking between Lobby and Hilltop (we decided to walk instead of taking the shuttle bus). Then, we use Palmers Coconut Oil Lotion as mosquito repellent which was effective.

The clean beach environment & nice blue sea + swimming pool facilities

Damai Beach Resort before covid pandemic was one of the best beach resort nearest to Kuching City. Presently, the beach environment & view is still the best but pity the hotel building & pavement is a bit run down probably due to lack of budget. It need more guest to give it better business & income so that it can survive & improves its image just like 10 years ago. Collaboration with Sarawak Cultural Village, Damai Central & Sarawak Tourism Board is very essential to bring in more tourist be it abroad or local. The hotel fees need to be more reasonable as presently, its on the high side compare to the run fown facilities available. But the damai staff never give up & always give their best thus the management should take the initiatives or else the hey days will be gone for good.

The room was very spacious, extremely comfortable beds, very relaxing. Pool was great, restaurant and bars lots of variety. resort is right on the beach so it was a great location, only drawback is going to visit sights takes approx 1 hour.... bako national park, semonggoh wildlife centre, kuching airport.... all 1 hour drive, but it is worth it to have the peaceful surroundings. (we booked our own driver for the duration of our stay) breakfast was great, food was mostly very nice, mix of local and western options.

Pure tranquility and the cultural Village nearby was great. Nice beach bar lovely staff. They sold real wine. I was volunteering in the jungle with Orangutans and sun bears so this break was sheer bliss. My room was lovely as was my balcony. Bit far from my main hotel but excellent hotel bus service and you can walk downhill to resort by stairs easily.

Bathroom very basic but it had hot water which i didn't have in the jungle.

The breakfast was so so. The location is amazing. It's one of my favorite places on Earth.

The breakfast could've been better organized. Separate lines for people who paid for breakfast as part of our fee and those who took forever to pay at the door. Sorry, but we shouldn't have to wait in the same line. Just tell the staff member our room number, she checks us off the list, and in we go. Also, make a clear distinction between the egg line and the laksa line. A lot of people came to the front of the laksa line (because there was no one in it at the time) thinking they were in the egg line and tried to order eggs ahead of those of us who had been waiting in the egg line. These may seem like small things, and they are, but they can make the overall experience better.

Our room, number 1607, had a breathtaking view. The sunset view is incredible, and breakfast and drinks at the sunset bar were excellent.

The room wasn't very clean, and the lamps and tables were dusty! The water coming from the washbasin and bathtub is yellow! In our 1607, Wi-Fi did not work for even a second, which was quite frustrating! It took about 30 minutes for their shuttle to take us up from our accommodation, which was inconvenient!

Pros: The view from the front row B Suite is excellent. One of the best hotel views I have seen and exceeded my expectation. Room is large and comfortable. Environment is serene and relaxing. Transport within the hotel compound is very efficient. Staff are polite and helpful.

Cons: Hotel facilities not well maintained. Shower, bathtub, old fashioned and not functioning properly. Gym facilities few and worn out. Telephone not working. Some staff not proficient in English. Breakfast choices are limited and below standard.

Big room and spacious

No wifi in our room and the receptionist did not even inform us during our check in. The water in the bathtub is also sandy and dirty. The shuttle bus to the Baruk rooms took a while to reached too. The max timing we waited was abt 30 mins and alittle bit of wasting our time for to & fro trips.

The view from room 1607 was spectacular. Breakfast and drinks in the sunset bar were top-notch, and the view was breathtaking.

The room wasn't very clean, and there was dust on the lamps and tables. Yellow water is coming out of the sink and tub. Wi-Fi didn't work for even a second in our 1607, which was very annoying. The shuttle took about 30 minutes to pick us up from our room, which was irritating.

Everything here except for the food.

Food is pricy yet it doesnt meet my expectation. - limited choice for buffet dinner (rice, ayam masak merah, udang masak telur masin, sayur masak lemak, and assorted desserts and breads, drink is just air sirap and lemon detox water). Taste was just fair, cant say delicious. Quite disappointing especially when there's no other restaurants available around. - breakfast was slightly better with more choices.
