Maja Tasic oversees one of the most charming, historical boutique hotels I have had the pleasure to stay in. As someone who loves to travel, I appreciate “true hospitality” and the importance of attention to detail. Maja, Paula and other staff made our 5 day stay in Malta magical. They were kind, proactive and helpful. It started with staff arranging for a driver to pick us up at the airport (service the Coleridge uses). The driver was obviously proud of his country and gave us a mini history lesson and pointed out landmarks on our way to the hotel. Upon our arrival Paula helped us orient ourselves to Valletta by providing a map where she pointed out key sites, services and bus numbers should we chose to use public transit. Amazingly, she was able to help us get tickets to the Hypogeum which are truly coveted. I was not able to purchase on line two months earlier as they sell out so quickly. Our suite was 2 stories with the 2-piece bathroom, kitchen and sitting area on the main floor. The second-floor room was the same square footage and featured a comfortable king size bed, large shower, stand alone bathtub and sink. The building dates back centuries but has been completely renovated with modern luxuries. Breakfast featured an array of delicious foods of fruit, eggs, cheeses, sliced meats, yogurt, and flakey decadent pastries. I appreciate why this hotel books up 3 months in advance. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to other travellers.

I have nothing negative to say about the hotel or staff. For those who do not know the Valletta area though, it is hilly with cobblestone streets so wear comfortable shoes.

The room was amazing and the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help us, from arranging taxis to keeping our bags until our evening flight on the day of our check out. Everything from the check in to the check out was perfect for us. The room we had (Fayette) was brilliant, with amazing views of the Carmelite dome, and across the bay to Sliema from the upper roof terrace (and hot tub). The decor was pleasant and the room was clean and there was a turn down service every day (unless you specifically asked for it not to go ahead). Location is fantastic as well - a short walk from the main historical areas of Valetta but also to the ferry for Sliema as well.

Very occasionally we could hear the water pumps for the hot tub - but this was really very quiet! Everything else was brilliant.

The property is situated in an old building, having personality and charm. All points of interest in Valetta are within easy reach as well as the bus terminal/ferry that connects Valetta to other points of interest. The staff is amazing, truly helpful (e.g., we had early morning tours & departure and they provided us breakfast to go) and kind, especially Maja, the hotel manager. She welcomed us with a abig smile and positive attitude, explained everything about the city and nearby locations and every interaction with her was a real pleasure. They are very receptive to customer’s feedback, being interested in making your stay there perfect. The breakfast offers good quality products, and healthy choices. Overall, I would recommend this accomodation, it’s the perfect choice for your stay in Valetta.

This is not a negative feedback about the property, just a few aspects that you should take into consideration when booking: being an old building, in a city that is part of UNESCO heritage, there is not much that you can do when it comest to improving the light and ventilation in the rooms (the double room downstairs is lacking natural light & ventilation, an aspect that we failed to read when we initially booked). But again, this is a situation that you encounter everywhere around Valetta, you should just set your expectations right. For sure this property worths making a small compromise on this.

Great welcome with hints on where to visit and how to get there. Fabulous large appartment, welll equiped and scrupulously clean. Tea, coffee and cooking facilities. Books. Excellent buffet breakfast with choice of cheeses, cold meats, pastries plus hot snacks, fruit, cereals and yoghurts. Freshly made and unlimited tea and coffee. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

For anyone less mobile the deep and steep stone stairs in our two storey appartment could have been an issue. The bedroom is upstairs and the toilet is downstairs with the lounge and kitchenette.

The duplex suite was decorated with balloons and complimentary wine for our anniversary / birthday celebrations. The attention to detail was impeccable! The room was spotlessly clean, the bed is very comfortable, the claw foot bath was stunning and comfortable. The only issue we had was with a leaky coffee machine which tripped the electricity box. Maja solved it within an hour. Thank you Maja. The continental breakfast was healthy and delicious! There are even black out curtains to help one have a lie in in the morning.

the coffee machine. An easy fix- throw it away, it is not user friendly :)

The hotel it is in very good zone: restaurante, shops, historic places, beautiful streets with stairs, flowers. Not to far it is a seafront where you can walk in the evening or you can stay on the rocks on the sun. We had the room Lafayette, with a nice and cozy bedroom and an equipped bathroom, a beautifull terrace with outdoor furniture and, the best, on the roof, a hot tube and another outdoor furniture. Very beautiful and romantic. Relaxing in the evening after a fool day. The breackfast was very good. And a very good cappuccino made by Maja, the lady who was with us every morning, take care to have all what we need. She helped us with everything: renting the car, ideas about what we must see in Malta. Even in her free time she made time to answear me to e-mails. A nice person, very friendly with the smile on her face all the time. I think the hotel is lucky to have a person who work there, like her. Very clean everywhere. I like to come back there.

Breakfast was served in the vaulted basement of the late medieval building which houses the hotel and comprised a good selection of cold meats/cheeses, breads, pastries and fruit. There was a limited hot selection but this was not an issue for me as the cold buffet was excellent. The Coleridge hotel's location in the centre of the old city of Valletta is ideal- you are never more than a 4-5 minute walk away from everything this marvelous city has to offer.

Although there is a lift in the hotel, the stairs are not well lit. Whilst this is in keeping with the nature of the building, it might be an issue if a family with young children were staying here and were using the stairs at night.

The accommodation is in the center of Valletta, you are 5 minutes from all the important attractions of the city. We were in a room on the ground floor that met all our expectations. The breakfast is perfect and the dining room is beautiful and it looks like you have returned to the time of the knights. Maja, the manager of the hotel is from Serbia and she welcomed us as if we had known each other for a hundred years. A wonderful person without whom our stay in Malta would certainly not have been so pleasant. She explained to us everything we needed to visit in the 3 days we had, the most important historical attractions(which includes also secret gems), cocktail bars, restaurants and everything was excellent. If you come to Malta, this hotel is a hearty recommendation especially for guests from the Balkans as you'll get all the info in your native language. Others will love it too - the rooms look exactly like the photos show - charming, stylish and with a dash of historic vibe when it comes to the enterior. If there were to be a naming convention for the hotels similar to knights - this one would be the grandmaster! (You'll get it once you've been to Malta)

This is a charming little hotel with a wonderful host. The building is old, beautifully renovated with beautiful big rooms. Big surprise we had a coffee machine in the room with free coffee capsules, a bottle of water refilled every day. Maya is an incredibly kind person, gave good ideas for walks and great restaurants. And the breakfast was varied with fresh and delicious food. The Coleridge Boutique Hotel In Valletta is the best choice in Malta!

Extremely well located, historical boutique property, helpful and friendly staff, large room with interesting furnishings, room well attended to each day.

Unfortunately the shower did not drain well and always significantly flooded the floor, which I understand can be a problem in older buildings. We did report it so hopefully it can be improved. Room could do with some better lighting - again probably difficult because of the age of the building.
