The resort was absolutely beautiful, so many pools to choose to swim in and the shows/activities were super fun! The room was a great size with a lot of space ans housekeeping came at the same time everyday so we knew when to make sure to be out of the room. The employees were very friendly and helpful at all times.

The wifi and internet connection was awful. I made sure to get the international package on my phone before I left, and the connection was still annoying to deal with. The buffet food was not to our liking. We ended up eating a lot of fried food because the variety of things was just not great. A lot of food tasted watered down and some of the juices, specifically the orange and pineapple juice, had a weird taste.

the entrance is just like in a dream, this beautiful alley surrounded by plants, statues and wild life. great hotel, beach is like in a movie, pools are awesome, A la carte restaurant excellent, nights shows extremely good and professional. the outdoor is very clean and very well maintained.

the rooms need updated BADLY, the TV's are like 20 years old ( we don't watch TV on vacation but for the one who does be aware!), the fridge didn't work ( we didn't bother telling the front desk), The AC wouldn't shut off. The furniture are very old ,dirty and damaged by the time. The 2 buffets at the main budlings looks terrible like a "canteen", the food was pretty good in the buffets but really the rooms and furniture were horrible, ashamed for such a beautiful hotel. the kids room is not good at all, and you cant access it whenever you like, you have to be there in certain hours.

Right on the beach and a huge resort, endless pools and activities for all the family, including an awesome kids pool. The evening entertainment was great for families, the Moana show and MJ tribute were personal favs! The resort itself is set in a nature reserve and there was so much wildlife including monkeys, deer, coaties and iguanas roaming around, it was amazing to see them so happy in their natural environment!

The food was a bit of a let down, not terrible but not 5*. The restaurant booking system takes a while to get the hang of so we didn't secure an evening A La Carte table until the fourth night, which was a shame as the food was better than the general buffet.

I was worried when we saw the low ratings but WOW, this place is incredible. Those who posted poor reviews must be extremely difficult in overall life because I can’t say a bad thing about the resort, staff, facilities or anything!!

Absolutely nothing! It was an amazing stay and we will return for sure!

Did not get notified of the website/app to use for dinner reservations until we were there and not able to reserve a table fir dinner.

The hotel and facilities where very nice for the price we paid.

The bars were understaffed for the demand. Also the few bar tenders were not very friendly. Another thing was the beach, the ocean was nasty, I didn’t even got inside.

For some reason, we got upgraded to family rooms. I highly recommend them for families with small kids since they are equipped with cribs, step stools.. They also include access to a well organized kids club and a mini playground/pool for small kids. We were not making reservations to restaurants since we did not want to be on a schedule. The buffets have options for everyone and the theme is different every night (Mediterranean, Mexican, etc) Our favorite was the bar on the beach, which offered bar lunch ( burgers, fries, wings, etc) and it was delicious! The resort is very clean and the staff is supper friendly! Our favorite was Marisol, the server in the lobby bar! Highly recommend this resort!

We checked in on 10th May 23, after we checked in, we encountered a couple of issues in our room and also with the transfer from Reception to our Room and due to those hassles we thought that our trip got spoiled, but wait, one of the Managers from concierge - Mr Arley, immediately responded (after we escalated) and then all is history, he fixed the room related minor issues immediately, booked dinner for us in one of the restaurants (as we got late in booking our dinner), offered a day pass to the Chill out area for next day and not only this but through out our stay he kept in touch checking for our well being and if we need any sort of help. Hey Arley! you actually saved our entire trip and helped make this one of our best experiences in Playa Del Carmen , we are surely gonna return to Grand Sunset bcs of the awesome services and the we were treated by you ...Mr Arley thanks for all ! We loved the room, the bed was awesome, very spacious, we got a bath tub super good, shower and toilet were separated, hot water, water pressure, a lovely and spacious balcony with garden view. The staff was super friendly, check in was fast, wifi was good I was working couple of days with different devices without problem. The minibar was always full, our bathtub and amenities were great! The spa was awesome, we took a massage with hot stones (extra cost obviously) but it was great, totally worth it. The resort is huge so just be sure you gotta walk, the beach is great and not a lot of sargassum.

-THE FOOD, it's unbelievable that with a great resort and amount of guest food is not good, I would say we only ate good food once in the whole stay (only 4days, imagine stay longer), the buffet was always a good idea but everything was missing flavor, and 3 times food was cold, I reported twice in a restaurant. -Restaurants with specialty, the grill was kinda good but the bbq ribs looked reheating or frozen. -Amount of activities, we were a young couple so we could tried tenis, sea doo, archery (which was twice per week but only for 1 hour with hundreds of guests) If you are just gonna chill out it's ok I guess.
