The location is well situated and the room very nice according to our expectations We loved the self check-out bar at the hotel which was available 24/7

The view was nice; we could see other skyscraper buildings but we had a big parking rooftop in front of our room so that was the only b minus point for us

The James is very well located, close to rail, tram, metro and shops. Our better quality room had a kettle, coffee maker and fridge so we could relax in comfort. I can’t comment if standard rooms have these facilities. There were two single beds so you get a good night’s sleep. This may be standard or perhaps we didn’t ask for a double room.

To be aware of 1) the single beds and 2) the hotel has no restaurant. It does have a small food shop and lounge so breakfast can be bought and eaten outside your room - although at a price. There is a supermarket close so we bought food in and ate and stored it in our room. This suited us fine - we had what we wanted for breakfast at a reasonable cost. We didn’t use it, but the hotel recognises that some customers will use food delivery options and makes this easy.

I really recommend this hotel. The hotel is well located in the center of Rotterdam, next to the tram station (2 min walk) and the central station (10 min walk max). We stayed for 2 nights, on the 1st night we had a room on the 18th floor but the person travelling with me has fear of height/claustrophobia on elevators and was not feeling well. After explaining the situation, the team was really helpful and organized a room on the 4th floor for our 2nd night. A huge thank you for your understanding and your help, 10/10 for the customer relation :)

No breakfast/restaurant but a lot of restaurant nearby and a snacks corner inside with lots of seats and sofa to chill or eat.

The ladies at the front desk were so nice and welcoming, and they allowed us to check-in early (thank you!). Upon check-in we were provided coupons to different restaurants which we of course maximized later on. The room was much better than expected. It was spacious, had huge windows, a TV and seating area, and a nice shower. Although the hotel was not particularly large, it had a gym, a lounge and a self-service food market which was like an unmanned convenience store. Such a cool feature to have inside a hotel! I wish Amsterdam had hotels like this at the same price point but alas...

The only thing I could think of is the lack of better lighting inside the hotel room. If I recall correctly there was just 1 floor lamp for such a big room. Other than that I really have no complaints!

The location was great-walkable distance to the train station and trams. The rooms were very clean and tidy and bed was very comfortable. The shower had good pressure and was very hot.

The staff weren’t the most welcoming people nor did they try hard to help. We arrived early and we’re willing to drop off our bags and check in later. The staff members first response was “we don’t have much room left for bags.” It was a disappointing response. I’ve travelled a lot and never had a hotel tell me they didn’t think they had room to store my luggage. Travelling with a 3 year old- it was vital we lightened our load until we could check in. She did manage to find room for our bags but looking in the luggage storage they could use a lesson on baggage storage/stacking. If they stacked and store the bags better they would have a lot more room to store more bags.

- The hotel has an excellent location, literally walking distance from any Rotterdam attraction. - The staff is friendly and you can easily contact the hotel via email prior to the arrival - The room was super clean and ours had a great view (it was a regular room and not the extra paid suite) - Beds are very comfortable - In case you want to use the TV in the room - it's connected to Netflix

- The garage - it takes a lot of time for the platform to go up and down, and in case more people want to leave or park the car at the same time, it can take a while. Also - it's not cheap and not included in the price. I regret we didn't chose to park in the public garage just around the corner, same price but the car is easy accessible and you don't need to ask the staff to lower the platform for you. - Breakfast buffet - as much as I like the idea of buying exactly what you want to eat (it's some sort of a kiosk), the choice wasn't too big and we opted to have some other options in the nearby cafes.

Quick and friendly check-in. I appreciated that I could leave my luggage at the hotel during my last day (I had a train in the evening) and that it was stored in a *locked* room. I left a small note for housekeeping and my request had already been resolved when I came back to my room later that day. I REALLY appreciated having an actual kettle, and not having to make tea in a coffee maker. Small fridge for my own food and drink was handy too. The AC/heating had no degrees centigrade on the dial, but was still 10x easier to work with than some of the systems I have seen in other hotels. The shower was (almost) perfect: spacious, good water pressure (even for the rain shower), good temperature (could set it to HOT without losing pressure), and a door that actually *closed* (no leaks flooding half the floor).

I would have appreciated a lock or chain on the door of the room. The bathroom smelled a bit of 'mud' (gronderig), maybe something to do with the drains? The smell was gone the moment I used the shower. Lighting in the bathroom could be better/brighter. The soap in the shower was supposed to smell of lemongrass, but I couldn't detect the fragrance (it didn't give a very nice foam either). Weirdest possible order of the floor buttons in the elevator.

Everything was fabulous! The staff were all absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was huge, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and it was so lovely and quiet! Normally staying in hotels, I get disturbed by the noise from people upstairs or next door or the cleaning staff outside the rooms in the morning - not in this hotel! There were people next door but I barely heard them, didn't hear anything from anywhere else either. Location was really good - 10 mins walk from the main train station and then lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance too - Rotterdam is a very walkable city.

The only slight downside was the water pressure in the shower - it could easily be improved by getting a better shower head (I know as I have done that at home) and then the water pressure would be adequate at least. It would have been nice if the hotel had had a proper bar, rather than a mini supermarket but that's just personal preference - lots of people would like the fact that you can buy your own wine and food and eat in the shared lounge as it would be much cheaper than prices at a hotel bar etc.

The hotel is 10 min walk from the central station and next to pedestrian aria with shops and food. It is 10 min walk from Markthal and the cube houses (if you want to visit this part of the central area of Rotterdam). When we arrived we got free room upgrade, which was really great. The staff was very helpful and explained everything about our stay in details. There is 24/7 market stall in the hotel, where you can get something for breakfast and pay for what you get. The selection was a bit limited, but the food was delicious.

It is more personal preference, but the top mattress was a bit much too soft for my liking and I was feeling like I will roll from the bed.

It’s location is very good and so close to the signature scenic spots. The room is tidy and clean.

I can’t open the door by using my room card for the first time, then I had to take my bloody heavy bag to go downstairs to ask the staff to deal with it again. And, when I checked in, the staff told me to deposit 100 Euro in case of the customer smoking, and so on. I don’t actually agree with that unreasonable claim.
