Perfect room to stay one or two nights in Auckland and a go out and about - we were out most of the time and just needed a comfy bed, a good shower, a clean room and friendly staff! There is even a nice hang out space downstairs if you want a change of scene and a little bar to have a drink or a snack before going out. The hotel is close to everything - good restaurants, the Civic/Aotea Centre, bars, shops, 15 min walk to the waterfront etc. I really rate this place - it is super good value for money and we'd definitely stay again.

The car park is a bit tricky to manouevre into but it was great to have somewhere to park :)

I loved the location, it was perfect for getting around central Auckland. I also enjoyed the splendid view from my room. Very kind and friendly service at the reception. Great shower and fresh clean towels every day. Room servicing was very good. I didn’t expect such a lovely stay for the price. Hotel is close to some nice places to eat, convenience stores and public transport. Nice quiet hotel at night and a comfy bed.

Some small and insignificant parts of the room need repair (fridge missing a leg) or some paint marks on the carpet but this is relatively insignificant in comparison to the positive aspects of the hotel. I didn’t find this off putting and I’d very happily stay again 😊

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the restaurant once and found it good value. Generally it was quiet and the bed was big and comfortable and there was fridge and kettle in the room. The coffee in the sachets supplied however tasted awful!

There was no TV remore contro, in the room, when we got one the TV did not get a signal. Also the shower taps are too sensitive, either boiling or freezing water - very difficult to achive something comfortable. On checking out I was not happy with the billing. I asked for a copy of the bill and the receptionist could not do it as he was new. At this point the taxi arrived so he said he would send it by email. So far it has not arrived.

Modern facilities, comfy bed, quality bathroom products in multi-use bottles (no waste), Sky TV (though BBC Earth was "N/A"), reasonably quiet on high floor, restaurant with option of room service (though didn't use), centre location at reasonable rate, friendly and helpful reception

Couldn't find how to turn off the humming bar fridge for the night so pulled it off the shelf and turned off at the wall, turned back on in the morning (hope milk didn't spoil) and put it back but it left a wet spot on the carpet, to which the reception was very understanding and said no problem room service will take care of it. The wall-mounted TV was a bit at an angle and couldn't right it. BBC Earth channel was "N/A" on Sky TV. Walking up to Upper Queen Street is a bit of an exersize (perhaps good).

At the time of booking, Ascotia Off Queen was the cheapest accommodation in the heart of Auckland CBD that wasn't a backpackers. We booked one queen room (me and my partner) and one twin room (my mum and my cousin) and both exceeded our expectations. The queen in particular had more room than what we were expecting, and the twin bedroom provided sufficient space for two to share. After reading other reviews and reflecting on my stay, I think others were expecting a hotel stay for a motel price, however, in this instance you get more than what you pay for within reason.

At the time of staying, the air conditioning wasn't working, which did make the twin room hot to stay in. It was also hard at times to contact the front desk prior to our stay to arrange parking, so I think Ascotia Off Queen would benefit from an online parking booking option.

Great view over the park. The bed was comfortable for one (two singles pushed together- may not have been so good with two) The room and bathroom were clean. Excellent shower. Room was small, but great value.

There was nothing, really, that I didn't like- especially given the low cost. It doesn't claim to be five star, but it was excellent value and much better than I expected. Nothing more I can really say against it- room was small, and not a lot of storage space. but big enough for my needs. Would recommend.

We had a wonderful stay and have stayed here a number of times now. Our room had a full view of the Sky Tower, much better than you can get around other hotels in the city. Great location as we love walking either up K Road or down Queen Street to the viaduct. Handy to Q theatre and other events around the city. Accommodating staff who tended to whatever our requests were. We will keep coming back!

Service of the room during our stay would have been nice as we did stay for 3 nights/4 days. This meant we had to ask for coffee/tea etc to be replenished but these requests were met with accommodating staff delivering what we needed to our rooms.

The customer service at Ascotia is excellent. We have stayed here a few times based on this experience. Nothing is too much trouble and we feel valued on every visit. This time we stayed in a two bedroom apartment. The rooms were comfortable, clean and the accommodation great value for money. There is a 10 minute walk downhill to get to the heart of Queen Street, which makes the hotel in a great location. We often walk down and Uber back - it’s cheaper than parking and worth it to stay in a decent hotel that’s still affordable.

We had a very relaxed, enjoyable stay. The staff were very welcoming and did everything possible to help us enjoy our stay. The queen room we stayed in was very clean, comfy bed, great views, and excellent bathroom facilities. Very good for reasonable price. Very good cooked breakfast and lovely to have some fresh fruit. Reasonable price too. The bus stop only 2 mins walk away, plenty of good restaurants within 5 mins walk and downtown only a few minutes ride on the bus. We look forward to staying again.

Ascotia Off Queen is a great property close to bus stops, affordable cafes, and a 24-hour convenience store. The staff was very nice and helpful. The my room was clean and comfortable. It’s a good value for a room with a private bathroom.

This is a great place to stay. One problem I had was with the bedding. The top sheets were tucked in tight so that when I pulled the sheets back to get in the bottom sheets also came untucked.
