We only stayed overnight in transit, but this is a lovely place that needed a few days to really appreciate. It was spacious and spotlessly clean and very private and secluded, given it was quite close to the main home. The hosts provided fresh eggs and homemade bread for breakfast. We only wish we'd had the time to feed the alpacas and enjoy the solitude.

Nothing. I would happily recommend Misty River Retreat to anyone, but suggest it is more suited to a few days relaxation with a good book, than an overnight stop.

Very nice two bedroom lodge and kitchen was well-equiped with good quality utensils and crockery. Bathroom was nice too. The lodge was well-cleaned and maintained and looked spanking new. Behind the lodge (though a gate) were the owners' alpacas (and a sheep) that you can hand-feed. My son and wife had a great time with the alpacas. There was also a washing machine and dryer free to use with free detergent provided. Joanne the owner has put much thought into all the little details for the lodge that would make guests very happy. Excellent value for money. I will choose Misty River Retreat again on my next trip to NZ

Everything about Misty River is amazing. It is a must stay in Blenheim. Do not stay anywhere else. The property is tranquil and peaceful. Walking track around the river is magical. The retreat is beautiful inside aswell. All facilities available that you need. The retreat is a 100 out of 10, everything is clean and perfect. The hosts are amazing and friendly.

There is nothing that we didn’t like. You cannot fault this place at all.

The setting on the retreat was wonderful. Feeding the alpacas was a treat. The fresh bread and jam provided for breakfast as well as eggs was very special.

This would be a perfect spot for a family. We were two couples so a bit small for us but we were aware prior to booking. The gas guns to scare off birds from vineyards nearby didn’t bother us and stopped at night.

Stunning retreat - surrounded by native planting and birdsong and only a few minutes drive from Blenheim. Clever use of space - one bedroom / lounge and one bedroom / dining space linked by corridor With kitchenette and bathroom. Lovely touch of fresh bread, butter and home made jam.

I loved the location of the facility, very beautiful clean, comfortable accomodation, the host was extremely kind to give us home baked bread, jam, we will definitely be coming back soon, our boys loved every moment of our stay there.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Misty Ridge Retreat. Beautiful & tranquil location. The place is spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated. The splash back in the kitchen is stunning. Really appreciated the home made muesli, jam, bread & farm fresh eggs. Fun time feeding the alpacas. Highly Recommended.

It’s beautiful and located about 15 min from Blenheim town centre. It was tranquil, with a steam running through it. We got to hand feed some alpacas, and sheep. There were other animals including 2 pet boars, dogs, ducks and a variety of chickens. What a treat for a unique countryside living experience. The kitchen was fully equipped and Joanna, the owner generously provided basic cooking ingredients such as cooking oil, as well as breakfast.

We loved everything. The retreat was spotless, beautifully situated and private . It was well stocked with everything we needed as well as lovely extras like chocolates, home baked bread, eggs, butter and great cereal. The alpacas and great bird life were the icing on the cake

Everything! Misty River was like a relaxing balm after the stresses of 2021. Idyllically peaceful, waking up to birdsong and sunlight through the windows after a great night's sleep was magic. I wanted a quiet place to read and be in nature and this was perfect. We loved seeing all your animals, walking around the protected land and feeding the alpacas..multiple times! The retreat itself is well thought out and has everything you need to make it a retreat- cosy blankets, lots of pillows, sofa and outdoor table. The beds are super comfy, kitchenette fine for breakfasts and ingeniously equipped for cooking. Having fresh eggs on hand was great and Jo's strawberry jam is yummy. Jo was super kind and friendly - a perfect host. We would thoroughly recommend this place for couples or a family. It's just a 10 minute drive to Blenheim centre and some great resturants- Gramados in particular. If you've got to be connected the WiFi was good for working. Close also for the Sounds trips
