The size of the family unit was awesome, plenty of space, never felt cramped. Bathroom was huge. Having the 2nd bedroom was such a bonus so we didn’t wake the children when they went to bed earlier. Children loved the park right outside the back door - having a front and back door in the unit was fab. We could sit outside on the outdoor furniture watching them play. Owner Peter was amazing, who done all the little things right! Having sky sports in the room was a treat for the other half.

We didn’t get to stay long enough! No negatives for us at all, as a family, this motel ticked every box.

What could be just another NZ Motor Lodge is so much more! The owners clearly pour their heart and souls into this business and it shows. The attention to detail is so refreshing, Peter and Tessa do their upmost to make your stay enjoyable, something so many other places could learn from. We stayed here for 7 nights in a 2 bed unit and absolutely loved our stay. It was amazing value for money. The cleanliness was next level, ultra clean and serviced regularly making it so nice to come back to each day. The gardens are also well tended to making it a lovely peaceful environment to stay in. The location is great also, not far at all from the airport and just off the motorway to get around easy. I used the buses each morning to go to work in the CBD and it was an easy 15 min walk to the bus stop. The Internet / Wifi was super quick, I was achieving speeds of over 600m/sec so can handle anything you throw at it. The number one reason I will be back again is the service and cleanliness. Thanks Peter and Tessa for making our stay so enjoyable, it was really appreciated and we will see you again!

I'd stayed here before and knew it was nice. I got an upgrade to a larger room for free, though hardly needed the space! Modern, with a heat pump. Quiet. Dark at night, if you know the trick about killing the fuse to the outdoor light. Love the ranunculus flowers around the property. Owners are obviously Christian from reading their bio, but don't shove crosses in your face. They brought my breakfast the night before so I could eat it when I wanted. The "light" breakfast had lots of food, was a bargain at $8. Was able to take a pleasant 20 minute stroll to catch a bus to where I needed to go.

I honestly struggle to think of anything.

The property is so beautiful with lush gardens and bright flowers located everywhere. The room itself was bigger than anticipated, comfortable and had everything we needed. The real highlight however was the property owner, we were only able meet Peter but he was so friendly and genuinely seemed to love working at his motel. I honestly have never had such a pleasant interaction with an owner, he really went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay and it was appreciated. We will definitely be back!

Close to a main road but didn’t notice the noise. Friendly helpful service. New, clean and tidy. Good car parking. Handy and free wash machine and dryer.

Just one thing didn’t like and that was the curtains were of the wrong type and didn’t keep the light out so at night the sleeping areas were too light due to outdoor security lights and the main front door was glass with no curtain to pull over that either.

Superb value for money. The entire property had a great upkeep, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, there was free laundry facility on site and above all, the manager was an extremely amiable person who immediately made us feel at home.

I really didn't find anything to not like. The location is a bit far from the main city but it's known prior to booking and so wasn't an issue for me. However, there are plenty of food options available within a short walk from the hotel.

Close to the airport the free pick up and drop off were the main reasons for booking for convenience. They went out of their way in hospitality had taken a lot of care designing and upgrading the motel with impeccable taste. Such interesting people to talk to during the pick up and drop-offs. He was there at the inside luggage collection to help us. Genuinely interested in their guests. Will come again if ever leaving from Christchurch in our travels.

One thing I can think of is shower pressure a little low but really not a big issue. Would highly recommend a stay here. Great having a hotplate as well as a micro in this price range and a lovely grassed area and trees and gardens to look at.

Peter received us warmly. A friendly guy. He was very helpful with information. Lodge was immaculate. Landscaped with beautiful flowers. Modern and cosy ambience. Well equipped kitchen. Clean. Big bathroom. Unit opened to a garden. Great selection of beverages.

Carpark was small. We were warned that there would be a puddle of water if rained and it did. Would prefer one way entry and exit rather that reversing to exit since parking area was tight.

Our family had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Northwood Motor Lodge! We really wish we could have had more time there. Peter and Tessa are the owners and you can clearly see how much hard work they put into making sure every guest has a wonderful experience. They were beyond hospitable and exceeded our expectations at every turn. We really felt welcomed there! The level of service was on par with five-star hotels that we have stayed at. Further, the townhouse was spacious, clean, and well-stocked, plus it was a great location close to the airport. They also had a small playground in the back, which our toddler absolutely loved. We are so grateful for such a great stay and highly recommend it to others!!

The location was perfect for our needs.It was quiet yet close to the motorway. The rooms were good sized.We liked the 2 bedrooms,large bathroom and a kitchen,with a decent sized fridge, where we could prepare food.Movie channels and other channels great. The room was exceptionally clean. Easy parking outside our room.The best part was the lovely owners,Michael and Tessa. We dealt with Michael at the front desk.He was exceptionally lovely and accommodating to our needs. We will definitely stay there again.

The only negative thing were the glass doors. As it wasn't dark until 8:30pm and light at 6am there was too much light coming in through the frosted glass. Wooden doors would be better to keep the room dark.
