It was so wonderful to stay somewhere with such a rich history. There are so many lovely historic touches like door plaques, light fittings, artwork, etc. The room was modern and had a great tea nook, a curtained baggage/wardrobe area and comfortable bed. I appreciated the guest laundry facilities, and loved relaxing on the balcony in the evening. All of the front desk attendants were so helpful. I also loved the bathtub in my room and surprisingly powerful hairdryer.

The air conditioner gurgled like a fountain and was so noisy I couldn't use it as I slept. I also found the bathroom mirrors a challenge - they are at a right angle in a corner, so either you are squashed against the door, or leaning and twisting at an odd angle to see your face front on. Parking was a challenge to find, but still a good location despite the short walk.

Highly recommend this lovely, central, historical Art Deco Hotel situated on the prime waterfront position.(There is a road between the hotel and the water) Freshly shucked oysters at Hotel's restaurant downstairs  Lots of beautiful old buildings close by. The Art Deco Centre is across the road.  Friendly welcome by reception. Comfy bed. Smaller room but had an armchair and a writing desk with a chair and was nicely appointed.Bar fridge. One of our two  small windows looked out onto Marine Parade, the sound shell and the huge expanse of the South Pacific Ocean (Hawkes Bay). Black sand beach and turquoise water. There is a guest communal outdoor verandah  overlooking Marine Parade and the water. Lots of eating choices in the area. Hubby happy to receive complimentary slippers :)

Air Conditioner in our room had a weird water noise. Could sleep though.

A lovely art deco hotel and the best possible location in Napier. Downstairs restaurant served really nice food to us latecomers. The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast but there’s a lovely breakfast restaurant Ajuna Eatery in the next corner of Tennyson St. A stroll along the beach and breakfast there is a perfect start for a leisurely day. It was lovely to have a door from the hotel room into the inner courtyard, sit on the sofa, sip a glass of wine and just relax.

Parking was a bit tricky but was sorted out somehow. It was also somewhat surprising that heavy truck traffic is allowed in the very city center until late.

I love old, historic buildings so staying in this hotel was a wonderful experience. Staff were excellent-professional, helpful and attentive. There are some lovely seating areas dotted around- the Ist floor veranda had lovely views out to sea and a very welcome breeze. The air con unit in the room was greatly appreciated. My room was a single, so it was obviously small, however ample room for 1 person and beautifully furnished. I struggled to get the tv on but the gentleman from reception was very helpful - i had failed to turn on at the mains😳 I was a little reticent about dining here after reading the poor reviews about the food but I have to say the lamb cutlets from the K Kitchen menu were superb in terms of flavour, portion size and value for money. I really didnt know which dessert to have so I trusted the waiter’s recommendation of the lemon tart -which was absolutely gorgeous 😋 I was able to get a parking spot directly outside the hotel and on the advice of reception was able to pay for parking online using the Park Mate app.Parking was 1NZ per hour between 10am and 6pm subject to a 2hr stay with a 60min non return. Excellent value. At £104 for 1night I thought it was very competitively priced and excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend, particularly to anyone considering doing the vintage car rides around the area- that and a stay at this hotel would complete the Great Gatsby experience .

My only disappointment was the poor wifi- this may have been due to my location in the hotel (room 148) because it kept dipping in and out and was not holding signal .

I booked this property for my single nights stay in Napier and wish I would have been able to extend my stay. The staff is absolutely wonderful from the moment you check-in as well as providing information about the surrounding area. The location is fantastic as its one street off the beach and near a bunch of bars/restaurants in town. In addition, there is a restaurant & Irish pub connected to the hotel, which are both great. The rooms themselves are incredibly unique compared to the other properties I visited throughout NZ and the property itself is just really really cool.

Nothing to mention.

The location is perfect for Marine parade and everything it offers. The hotel is a 1930s Art Deco building with a lot of character and is well presented with lots of home-like touches including a library of books (take one/leave one). The recently opened restaurant is lovely and the staff are really attentive and excellent.

The TV is overly complicated and doesn't offer many channels. The hotel's decision that there is not much of an offering because 'people need to get out and about and enjoy Napier' seems a bit strange. Other guests could be a bit more considerate and aware of the noise level on the shared deck when having visitors, particularly young children tearing around and shrieking.

The rooms are exactly like the pictures and being able to step out onto the covered veranda was pretty cool. We missed Napier on our last trip to NZ so this time we were determined to do it in style. The hotel has done a wonderful job of recreating the Art Deco period and the attention to detail in furnishings and decor is very well done. We arrived quite early and the hotel very graciously let us check-in and get settled. The parking is not onsite but about only a few minutes walk. Everything is only really a few minutes walk.

Unfortunately we couldn't enter the dining room as it was still closed post cyclone. May need to return so we get the full experience!

The location of this hotel is fantastic - it is part of the downtown area of Napier and a minute walking distance from the Marine Parade with outstanding views of the pacific ocean. It's art deco design is a wonderful accompaniment to the town's character and history and the rooms with doors to a veranda overlooking the sea are really special. A plus is The Rose, an irish pub located within the hotel and Tennyson's, a french bistro, a delightful place to have breakfast, which is less than a minute walk from the hotel. I think this is possibly the best place you can stay in Napier!!

No complaints - a wonderful stay I highly recommend.

The carpet!! But seriously, the decor is fabulous throughout. Beds and all room facilities were great. A lovely staff member guided us to the upstairs balcony overlooking the Napier waterfront. He was right! A beautiful spot to finish the day with friends.

Restaurant atmosphere and food were excellent, however the staff were a little over attentive on our first night, and the opposite on the second! Just reminded me of the current 'complex' staffing issues in most countries. So, patience may be required.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel and only wish we could have stayed for longer. The decor and furnishings throughout the building are exceptional, we felt as if we were in The Great Gatsby. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout and our room was delightful. The attention to detail everywhere was superb. The hotel location is fantastic for exploring Napier. We particularly loved the first floor outside terrace overlooking the sea.
