Oryx Airport Hotel - Transit Only

I had a 20hr layover with my 8yr old. So this option was PERFECT for someone who didn't want to be exhausted and still have 13hrs of flight time ahead. The pool is gorgeous, the room super comfortable, the staff super nice and efficient. We ate at both the food courts, explored the rainforest as well 😀 A super airport for exploring.

There are a couple of things that could be better considering this is a transit/less than 24hr stay hotel. Here is my wishlist/things that didn't exist: - all electric outlets should be multi plugs and not just the one near the desk so far away from the bed - there be a quick dryer (there are small ones usually at higher end pools) for swim suits as you have to carry your soggy swimwear with you. - the TV wasn't a smart tv or one where you can cast from your device so we were stuck watching tv we couldn't understand.

Perfect location inside the airport terminal. No time loss. Relatively easy and quick check-in.

Overprized. Over 300 USD for a short nights stay is too expensive, but between two long flights it's still a life saver.

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were helpful in offering a wake up call and I was able to check in early (although the message I received from the hotel prior to my stay was that early check in wasn't guaranteed which I found odd given it's a transit hotel and people are arriving at non standard times).

Only a very minor point but there was no dressing gown in my room on this stay. I queried it and the staff member said they were only available on request. Not an issue but the last time I stayed it was already in my room when I checked in so was expecting the same.

Oryx hotel is a great idea when you have more 7,8 hours at the airport. We got to DOH around 11 pm and our next departure was at 8 am. So we've decided to have a good sleep in very comfortable bed. We were also upgated to family room which was very nice. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of the airport and the entrance is next to this huge yellow bear. We left the room at 7 am and went straight for the boarding which was very convenient. The room was very quiet, you have good cosmetics in the bathroom (Rituals), the bed is great. Althought the price is quite high - it is worth it. You can buy extra breakfast (around 20 USD) and you can use gym and swimming pool. We did not have time for this unfortunately.

room was well appointed with everything I might need. The airport is huge but so professionally run and very easy to negotiate where to go and where to find what you need. Location behind security is so convenient that you don't have to check in and out just for a layover. and tt was extremely quiet. Extra touches like super efficient staff at check-in and helpful attendants like Sai who helped ensure T.V. was functioning, raise temp in room and he brought me a print out of room service menu apart from the one on QR code--just to make sure it was convenient for me! I stayed over Feb. 24-25 also and both experiences were equally good and comfortable.

I got receipts from on-line booker. Can checkout by leaving key, but if need hotel receipt, would be good to just have them ask upon check-in as reminder, if an additional receipt is required so could have it ready in advance.

Obviously, the location is everything. I had a 14-hour layover, so it seemed worth it to plunk down $300 for a good bed and a full night's sleep. The pool was lovely: after a long flight, swimming laps felt marvelous, and I made use of the jacuzzi as well. I liked that you went through security before accessing the hotel, which meant that in the morning, I could walk 10 minutes straight to my gate and I was ready to board. The room was equipped with a sliding wooden screen in addition to normal hotel curtains, effectively blocking out the flashing neon lights of the atrium. (Unfortunately, I couldn't convince my body it was time to sleep, so I probably would have been just as well off hanging out in an airport lounge. If I had to do it over again, I still would have booked the hotel, but I would have taken a sleeping pill.)P

The "view" is of the main atrium of the airport, which was full of flashing lights, luxury shoppers, and airline announcements all night long, so there's no connection to the natural world at all. But that's the tradeoff for not having to go through immigration & customs.

The location is fantastic. Central at Hamad Airport. Very close to all gates. The rooms are ridiculously spacious. Check in is smooth, bathroom is excellent. Pool area is beyond anything you could expect at an airport! Service is friendly and efficient. I actually look forward to long layovers with them! We’ve stayed here at least half a dozen times and they are incredible, well worth the price! I absolutely love this airport!

All perfect. Nothing I didn’t like. Maybe have a loyalty program for us who go often? :)

Perfect hotel for a stopover at the DOH. It's a nice-sized hotel room (unlike usual cubicle hotel rooms inside airports), and only a few minutes (tops) walking to your gate. We had to cross half the world with two long flights separated by a stop in DOH. So we decided to take a flight later to rest well in DOH. We chose this hotel because it is transit only, which makes it very practical as you don't need to pass immigration and x-ray twice. It exceeded our expectations. It's next to the famous "large yellow teddy bear" (you can see it from the corridor while walking to the rooms). Checkout was only a few minutes before the boarding started, as it only takes a few minutes to get to any gate. Laying in bed less than 2 hours before the flight departure was good.

A great stay for transit, however price was too steep
