Location was excellent. They feed you free food and drinks from around noon till 7 pm. We got a free upgrade to a two story suite in their annex! We didn't even ask for it. Staff is courteous and tourist friendly. There is a small self service laundry about about 7 minutes away. Good restaurants are about 2 minutes away. Probably want a bus or taxi from train station. We took city bus back to train station. Once we arrived my wife realized she left a backpack behind. We didn't have enough time to bus back to hotel. I called them and they sent an employee who found the bag. They sent it by taxi to the train station for us just in time! I think they deserve the high ratings and feedback. Even without the room upgrade I would still give them a 10!

The location was perfect, quiet, and close to the city walls, restaurants, and sights. Breakfast was very good, and we had a wide variety of sweet and savory food. The hotel offers a complimentary aperitivo, which was terrific after a long day's travel. We arrived by train, but the hotel has a parking lot and electric vehicle charging stations. We would love to stay there again on our next visit to Lucca.

It's not a complaint, but a suggestion that the hotel install bars to hold on to in the shower. The shower floor was slippery.

Location was great, near the town walls, and a gateway into the old town. We were upgraded to a large room in an annexe along the road, which was extremely comfortable. Arriving early in heavy rain, we were invited to wait for our room in the reception area where we could have as many free hot or cold drinks as we wished, as well as cakes and fruit. A free early evening aperitif was also offered, which was a very welcome touch. The next morning we had a really good breakfast too. Highly recommend!

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast provided was also very good with cooked and continental options available. The hotel offers guests free tea, coffee, and prosecco in the afternoon, along with a selection of pastries, sweet and savoury, which we thought was a nice touch. For a slight charge of €6 you can make yourself an Aperol spritz, there's a chalkboard with instructions on how to make it. We will definitely stay here again.

The only thing that was wrong was that our visit was too short.

Amazing location, we loved being in the annex in the historic tower with a large shaded patio right outside. Breakfast was very good and the location is so walkable to every place in Lucca.

Kicking ourselves for paying $30 for parking the first night there. This is one of the few places in Lucca that there is generally free parking within steps of the hotel. Just take a left when you go through the Porta instead of a right to the hotel and you should be able to find parking

Staff were pretty friendly and the complimentary bar was generous - set in a quiet area, but was close to restaurants and historic places to visit

Our 'superior' room (in the gate) was quite dated - neither traditional nor modern - with annoying features such as very bright lights and few bathroom hooks, and the hall/aircon lights were pretty bright. The complimentary bar in the main hotel was also quite dated. We asked for an iron for the room and was told for security reasons we had to use an ironing room, which is separate from the tower block - does not really feel like a 4 star hotel. Generally, feels like the hotel could do with a decor and service upgrade - especially given the price per night.

The hotel is in an ideal location inside the walls of Lucca. Restaurants, shops, landmarks, and cafes are all within walking distance in a charming, clean, and safe setting. For breakfast on the terrace, there were various pastries and healthy options to enjoy. The staff was attentive to the guests and always available to assist as needed. The daily happy hour in the lobby is an excellent way to relax after a day of sightseeing. We rented a pedal-powered tuk-tuk for an hour to explore the surrounding area and discovered many beautiful spaces around Lucca.

Quality of the sleeping pillows was not as expected. I prefer softer pillows versus a flat, hard surface for sleeping.

Great location, handy for railway station, lovely friendly welcome by reception staff. Room is compact but I would expect that in a city hotel but absolutely wasn't an issue. Nice breakfast choices and fresh coffee made to order. Good strong shower in bathroom which I like. Hotel has a free snack/drink bar in the reception area which was a nice touch. I also liked the fact there is no extra charges for WiFi, bicycle use, and use of jacuzzi on terrace, and use of safe in the room, a lot of hotels would charge extra for these.

Only one thing the air conditioning unit had a very slight rattle but I am a very light sleeper and woke me a couple of times 1st night but we found if we turned it off just before going to bed it actually made for a better night's sleep as they do tend to dry you out a bit also.

The location is fantastic - literally just outside the wall so you can park your car at the hotel and just walk to everything. They have a very generous check out time of noon. They provide some snacks and drinks in the lobby for free and every evening there is champagne and snacks from 5pm - 7pm. The staff are very helpful making reservations at restaurants , looking up Sunday mass times, providing discounted tickets to the nightly Puccini concert (which was amazing) Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was lovely and plentiful. We would definitely stay there again!

The Hotel Ilaria is wonderful - it's in an excellent location, the rooms are stylish and well designed, there's a coffee and prosecco bar available to guests during the day, breakfast is fantastic, and the staff are professional, friendly and exceedingly helpful. The location is very near Porta San Gervasio inside the main ring of city walls. It's a short walk to all of the main sights (Lucca is a compact city) but far enough from the noise and bustle of the busier streets to afford an air of welcome tranquility. There are a number of excellent restaurants very nearby. We were fortunate to stay in an annexe of the hotel attached to the ancient city gate - the building is a very short walk from the hotel and has its own entrance. There are plenty of interesting architectural features including exposed excavations in the hallway. Our room was very spacious and nicely decorated with a well equipped bathroom and plenty of hanging space. There's an area in the hotel lobby where guests can have a glass of prosecco, a soft drink or a hot drink along with some snacks - pastries, nuts, crisps and biscuits. This is advertised as being open in the afternoons, but we were also able to sit and have a coffee there whilst we were waiting for our airport taxi earlier in the day. Breakfast can either be taken on a first floor terrace or in the breakfast room, a pleasant area shaded by a huge tree. There was a really excellent buffet with high quality goods and plenty of choice. Staff were attentive and constantly refreshing the display so whatever time you arrived it looked well stocked. Hot drinks were made by the pleasant and cheerful staff and delivered to the table. The staff we encountered were all extremely helpful and friendly. We had to cope with an emergency situation during our visit and their response could not be faulted. Bravo!
