The location was excellent - everything we wanted to see was within a few minutes walking distance and also just a 5 min walk from the station. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was a slight delay in our room being ready (15 mins) and we were given 2 complimentary drink vouchers. We were enjoying our cocktail in the bar when the receptionist came to give us our room keycard and all the info we needed. Staff at breakfast were helpful and friendly.

I feel that a hook and a small stool in the bathroom would have made having a shower easier. Also a hook in the room to hang up heavy coats - the wardrobe hanging space was quite small.

Brought my sister here for her 25th birthday; nothing asked of them was too much, All the staff in the hotel and both restaurants were a pleasure and nothing was too much for them even at 2-3am (Im not the easiest of customers) everything we asked for we received within 5 minutes. The coffee machine in room was broke but as soon as we told the ladies on reception they brought us a new one straight up. We stayed in a club room and it had a brilliant view from the window, was spotless, beds really comfy and the shower was out of this world. The resources within the hotel are great. The rooftop bar is fabulous and they have the best food by far. On the last day have to check out at 11am but wanted to spend the day in York still the hotel was happy to keep our luggage safe for us until our train this evening. Thank you very much to all staff that have worked over this weekend and for making our stay one to remember we will definitely be returning back here

Couldn’t open windows in room and it did get warm on night in there

Chic design and spotlessly clean. Spacious room with a lovely view. Breakfast was very good.

Open plan bathroom! Not ideal when staying in a twin room with my 20 year old son. We both would have preferred more privacy when showering. A system is required when ordering the hot breakfast option from the table. The waitress ignored us and took other guests’ orders first even though they were seated after us. When I asked if she could take our order her she was a bit rude. Continued to take other tables orders and then came to us with a “right, what do you want then”. A little customer service training would make all the difference. Shame as otherwise the breakfast was very good.

Loved the unique layout of the room. It was immaculate, completely clean. The best shower I've ever had. The choice of TV Channels that includes Sky Sports, especially on a darts night was a very pleasant surprise (and something that won me over to come back here again in the future) Very spacious. Curtains that actually block out light. It was so quiet during the night, we did not hear outside or any other rooms or people walking past the door. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The check in and check out was pretty smooth. The service at the bar was superb. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to York, and I would go back certainly.

Very hard to think of anything to dislike. Only some petty things. The sideboard area seemed too dark. No sink within the same room as the toilet, so unwashed hands are touching the toilet door. No real place to place towels or clothes when in shower or out of. The light switch system was confusing. Not enough room in wardrobe to hang long coats. Facilities like roof bar, or spa, or gyms, weren't mentioned at check in. I can imagine that the very open bathroom layout and glass window in shower could be a problem for people who aren't comfortable being naked in front of each other. But that's all. Everything was brilliant.

I cannot praise the team at Malmaison York enough for their outstanding customer service! After a complete disaster with Booking.com failing to communicate my reservation, I arrived at the hotel only to find there was no booking in my name. However, Paige and the incredible front-of-house staff went *above and beyond* to rectify the situation. Despite spending nearly two hours going back and forth with Booking.com, they never gave up and did everything possible to accommodate me. Although I didn’t get the suite I originally booked, the Club Deluxe room exceeded all my expectations! The hotel truly went out of its way to ensure I was happy and even provided compensation, despite the error not being theirs. A special mention to Paige, who was simply phenomenal, handling the situation with professionalism, patience, and a genuine desire to help, even when i was ready tio through the towel in and find another hotel. The front of house team as a whole were exceptional, and Peter in the restaurant bar was another standout, delivering incredible service that made my stay even more memorable. I did not need to make any decisions as all of his recommendations were fantastic! This level of dedication and customer care is rare, and Malmaison York has set the gold standard for hospitality. I left absolutely blown away by the experience and will 100% be returning all thanks to the incredible team! If you’re looking for a hotel that truly cares about its guests, this is the place to be. The room comfort was fantastic and there was great space. The restaurant and bar facilities were superb and the breakfast was amazing, great value when considering the wide choice and variety with drinks included too. I enjoyed the complimentary drinks offered to us on arrival and the receptionist was lovely and personable while maintaining professionalism - a great balance.

This is not the fault of the hotel, but i didn't check if there was a bath, and while the shower was amazing, I like a bath! But i stress it is not the fault of Malmaison, it was my error on not checking the room specification.

The hotel was lovely the price good especially as we got a special Black Friday deal and it was Christmas Eve we also got a little gift on the door in the morning , the area is great and very nearby where we were eating The room was nice bed very comfy shower good , Breakfast excellent. Very quiet .

The only thing was in the dressing area there should be some kind of lighting especially for the mirror . I’m a huge fan of mood lighting but I need light to apply any make-up and I had to use my phone torch .

The bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in at a hotel. The sheets were all crisp and there were feather pillows just like we have at home. The hotel is very well situated being a short walk from the station, the river and city centre sights and shops. We found the staff very engaging and eager to please their guests. The food was first rate with breakfast cooked to order and an excellent dinner menu. The lounge areas were spacious with comfortable seating.

Just a couple of minor things. The lighting in the bathroom was too dim to see properly in the shaving mirror and the vanity mirror light didn't work.

We had a family visit to celebrate an 80th birthday and from the initial welcome to us leaving the hotel all the staff were exceptional. The birthday girl had an upgrade of room which was a lovely touch. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night, and the food and service was top class. We had a very special night and our waitress for the night made sure everything was on point with a couple of surprises slipped in. Rooftop bar is also worth a visit. In the evening the hotel bars do have a great vibe and a good playlist of chilled tunes. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. All in all a tremendous visit and we would not hesitate in returning. The location is also great.

There were just a couple of minor points. The make up mirrors in a couple of rooms didn’t work. The rooms are a bit dimly lit.

Couldn't fault the cleanliness etc of the room, and the food was very good, catering and bar staff very helpful and accommodating. I was overcharged by a considerable amount for the meal we had on 3rd December, but having spoken to the hotel since our return home, am now awaiting a refund.

Our only complaint, and it does need looking into, is that the toilet smelled of urine; the walls either side of the toilet, and the door, were splashed with what can only be assumed were urine streaks. To be fair, when the door was in the open mode the cleaner wouldn't have been able to see the state of it, but the walls were clearly obvious and clearly need washing on a regular basis. Apart from that, we had no complaints.
