A charming bed and breakfast that was both stylish and comfortable with a truly fabulous garden. The attention to detail and the obvious care that had gone into creating a truly exceptional guest experience. The room itself was beautifully decorated, with high-quality furnishings and luxurious bedding that made for an incredibly comfortable stay. The attention to detail continued throughout the property, with thoughtful touches like flowers, soft bath towels and fresh milk available for the coffee/tea tray. What really set this bed and breakfast apart is the tranquility created with the pool and garden design in a very busy city within a couple of kilometres from the N1 highway. The grounds were impeccably maintained, with a variety of plants, flowers, and trees that created a peaceful and serene atmosphere with many birds visiting. Enjoyed spending time on the outdoor terrace. If you are looking for a tranquil, elegant and luxurious stay with a truly unique garden design, this is definitely the place for you in Bloemfontein.

Very friendly owners with an eye for interior and details. Friendly staff, good breakfast. We really felt at home. They produce and sell lots of their own products, which we still enjoy back home. Lovely green surroundings, including all different types of plants and flowers.

Because of power cuts, the room became quite warm during the night as the AC was not working. As there was no window but a large glass door, we did not feel comfortable (enough) to open up the door for fresh air. Not sure how to tackle this.

Exceptional all around. They are a little ways out of town but if you have transportation that’s the best thing because Bloemfontein is a little bit dirty. Initially I couldn’t get my rooms together but they were able to correct that on the second night. I feel Ariana went above and beyond. Cannot talk enough about the feeling of inclusion when we went to harvest olives. They make you feel like family.

I loved every single thing about this B&B, big and small. From the doggies meeting me on arrival (I was looking for them every day to play with them, so cute and friendly), to the smallest lil details and everything being homemade from what is planted on the property! This is heaven on earth and we just didn’t want to leave.

Liedjiesbos is our favourite stay in Bloemfontein; it feels like visiting family on a farm. We always have a very friendly welcome on arrival; and, love staying in the well equipped and tastefully decorated rooms. There is enough space to unpack your suitcase and hang out some clothing, the bed is comfortable and the TV in the room is big plus. As the B&B does not cater for dinner it is situated near a few restaurants which are a short drive from there - a list of the restaurants are available in the room. Breakfast is excellent and is served in the main building which serves as the Reception and Coffee Room. In summer you can also cool down in the swimming pool on the premises. I highly recommend Liedjiesbos!

A wonderful stopover ! Beautiful well appointed accomodation set in a magnificent indigenious garden. Exceptionally friendly staff that make you feel most welcome.

We were unable to order a dinner platter as these have to be ordered 2days in advance of arrival. It would be appreciated if you could advise guests of this policy when bookings are made.

the gardens and style

the cement floors are simply not nice, cold. a few carpets can solve the problem. and that cold metal bed headboard is terrible. the fireplace should be replaced and a proper combustion stove will save wood and reduce the smoke. Then no aircon is needed. Heaters in the bathroom would help, its only used for short periods so cost shouldnt be an issue. the chairs in the tv room need cushions. I may be small things but would make a major difference to us.

What a precious treasure in Bloem. We loved the hospitality and attention to detail. We loved the gorgeous orchard and outside bath and shower under the vines. The cheeseboard was delicious and very generous. Breakfast was a delight. We woke very early to the sweet songs of the birds as promised in Liedjiesbos. Such a refreshing stay. Our only regret is that we couldnt stay longer!

Liedjiesbos is an oasis in the otherwise dry Orange Free State winter. Our arrival started with a wonderful friendly and professional welcome and check-in, including a free cappuccino in the multifunctional reception area; breakfast room; kitchen; bar and shop, with too many unique gift options and pieces of art to mention. We were shown our fabulously decorated and comfortable suite with all possible amenities and loads of special little extras, accepted the mezze platter option instead of going out for dinner after a long day travelling and sat enjoying the beautifully tended gardens with tall glasses of chilled wine while watching the setting sun. Waking up to the birdsong (the origin of the name Liedjiesbos) in the bush all around was blissfully peaceful and along with the delicious breakfast, and lovely hosts’ farewell, we left happily and well rested until the next time in Bloemfontein. We loved revisiting for the third time and will find excuses to have many more nights at Liedjiesbos.

We would have loved to stay for a few days rather just for one night.

The setting is beautiful and the room is well-appointed, luxurious and stylish. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. We had the optional meze platter for dinner in addition to breakfast and both meals were tasty and beautifully presented. The exquisite items for sale in the comfortable dining room added an extra touch of luxury.
