We had two rooms: one for my husband and I, and one for my two adult children. I paid a little extra for my and my husband's room for a view of the lake and it was totally worth it. Sitting on our little balcony overlooking the lake was gorgeous. Interestingly, our kids' room faced away from the lake but they had a very large bathroom which we didn't have at all. The best part of the hotel was the staff. The owner and breakfast staff were so kind and helpful - the owner even offered me a ride in his car when we had an emergency. The free breakfast was delicious and the breakfast terrace overlooking the lake was so peaceful.

We loved the location of this property. Waterfront out the front of the building and train station across the street and a few yards down from the back exit. This was not a problem because the trains are quiet and no loitering folks like at some stations. It was a great convenience to jump on the train so close. We were also a five minute walk from the funicular up the mountain. The staff was very friendly at breakfast and we had a lovely dinner at the restaurant which has tables on the lakefront. The owner and his wife were very eager to help with all our inquiries which we truly appreciated. Their suggestions made our stay much better than we had expected.

Our only small suggestion would be to get heavier shower curtain that wouldn’t cling while taking a shower. ;)

We really enjoyed our three nights at Al Pozz. While the room is nothing special, it is comfortable, but the best part was the view from the lovely little balcony. Staff were very friendly and breakfast is served at the front of the hotel to take advantage of the view. The hotel is only a short walk to the train station, and has easy access to the lakeside walking path. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant across the road on the lake and received excellent service and a decent pizza.

Very large room and bed and therefore perfect for with small child. Location right at the lake and 5min walk from train station.

No breakfast included. Elevator is very small and not from the ground floor, so not very practical with stroller/wheelchair. The area where the elevator is located is rather narrow and also has stairs going down and personell need to be here too so with small children you have to watch out. Sofabed quiet old and we were not able to unfold it.

Great location near the train station and the lake, with well-equipped large rooms (take one with the lake view, it is a must!), and even if the restaurant is below, it is not noisy. We stayed there during a busy weekend of the Film Festival and it is perfectly OK regarding the noise. Definitely recommended! (and also recommended: to eat at the delicious Osteria del Centenario just next door, 15 points at the GaultMillau)

Our experience from start to finish at the Al Pozz was wonderful. We arrived a bit early; we were greeted warmly by the staff who stored our bags and offered us refreshments. Traveling with friends we booked 5 rooms and all were spacious and wonderful! One room had a kitchenette along with a balcony that gave beautiful lakeside views. Two other rooms also had a balcony. The rooms with a mountain view were nice, too. Most rooms had a refrigerator. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were spacious, and wifi worked well. Each morning we were greeted by name at breakfast and shown the warmest hospitality. The food was delicious and adequate--their coffee was superb! The property is a 5 minute walk from the train station. I'll certainly hope to book at the Al Pozz again when I come to Locarno.

That our visit was too short.

The hotel is very close to the train station and right on the lake. It's a short walk down the promenade to catch a boat. There is great gelati right nearby. The lake view from the room is fantastic. Room comes with really comfortable bathrobes and slippers in a lovely changing room that was separate from the main bedroom and the bathroom. It was nice to have an additional corner or privacy with four sharing a bedroom without hogging the bathroom. It also has a refrigerator with complementary drinks (water, tonic water, orange juice), as well as a kettle for making tea.

Check in was a bit confusing, as there is no main hotel entrance. You announce yourself in the restaurant, and they show you to room through a stairway right off the kitchen. Unfortunately, our television wasn't working and the staff was all busy serving tables to resolve the problem.

The location of the hotel is exceptional - only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and with an absolutely superb view of Lake Maggiore (see photo). The room was as advertised - a small double. It was comfortable but lacked a seating area inside although, in good weather, the balcony more than compensated. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has its own restaurant where the food is excellent. Breakfast is very good: very fresh bread and a good selection of other things. I am certainly hoping to return.

The only slight problem was that it took some time for hot water to reach the bathroom. You have to run the shower for a few minutes before you can use it.

Al Pozz is a real gem. It is located right on the waterfront in downtown Locarno and boasts one of the best restaurants in town. The restaurant is both on the lower floor of the hotel building and there is an extensive patio across the street. The proprietor is very proud of his breakfast, and it was very good. Soft boiled eggs, fruit-infused water, juices. He was eager to have us partake of the Prosecco and grappa. We acceded to the former, reluctantly but ultimately happily. The balcony was nice, with a retractable sun-shade. Great view of the lake and town. Sweet people. They provided a nice fan for a hot evening. I'll be back!

The only complaint I might have is the croissants at breakfast were not as fresh as we might have liked.

We had an excellent 3 nights' stay at Al Pozz. Although the staff can't speak English, they were very friendly. Breakfast was good and we loved the cuppachinos! The hotel is just 100m - 150m from Locarno train and busstation and this was very convenient for our different day trips. Our double bedroom with ensuite bathroom was big and comfortable and enough space to unpack our stuff. We also enjoyed the balcony. Definately recommended for fellow travellers. Keep up the good work and your hospitality!
