The great thing about this hotel was the welcome for dogs. Many places charge £20 extra, but here you got something for your money: a large bed and matching (!) bowls waiting in the room, with treats. The main house is handsome and there's a fine view of Bath from the terrace and park. The staff are friendly, chatty and helpful, and breakfast is carefully cooked and presented, but our haddock portions were small, almost hidden under a poached egg! The rooms (most of them much more recent than the main house) are solidly comfortable. There are plenty of free parking spaces.

It's a pity that, with the main building being such a handsome 18th-century one, the decor and furnishings, while comfortable, are so anonymous and 'institutional', lacking charm. And I found the price - £275 for two, including breakfast, plus £20 for the dog, high.

Outstanding location nicely situated just out of the city but a 10min taxi ride to key locations. The entire hotel is lavish, the room was lovely liked the two chairs and table and a lovely shower. Reception staff really friendly, polite and professional, the bar staff “Hugo” was outstanding member of the team and we enjoyed his friendly chat immensely. Breakfast staff were hugely awesome and the breakfast food was first class. Checkout was swift and efficient and accurate.

The location and setting of the hotel was excellent as it was in a quiet and peaceful area just a few minutes drive to the centre of Bath and the room that we stayed in which was an executive room was very well appointed and spacious and was perfectly clean. There was even nice added touches such as complimentary truffles left in the room. We would certainly stay at this hotel again without hesitation. The afternoon cream was absolutely delicious.

We did not use all the facilities of the hotel as this was a very short break but what we did use we could not fault.

Nice hotel in good location, a short drive from Bath centre. Lovely grounds.

Booked on booking.com for a pet friendly hotel with pet filter on and prepaid. Arrived hotel and guided by reception (with our cockapoo dog) to our 3rd floor room. 20 mins later a phone call to say they hadn't been aware we had a dog and that we should be in a ground floor room. Only two rooms ( 1 accessible) available that were unsuitable and not as nice. They allowed us to remain in given room. Be aware, although paying £40 additional for dog, you are not given usual accommodation!. Also, you have to eat breakfast in a square through- passage, so are treated second class, although staff are very helpful. Dog friendly should mean equity for price,(although paying £20:a night in addition), not second class...be warned dog owners!

I loved everything about Bailbrook House! More than it all, the staff were absolutely incredible! Lorella, Melina, Deborah - at reception who gave us VIP treatment, I mentioned my husband and I would be there for his birthday celebrations and they pulled out all the stops to ensure he felt super special the whole trip - balloons, chocolates and birthday messages in the executive room etc Wendy - our housekeeping lady who obliged to coming back at a later time to clean up our room Simona at the lovely Cloisters Restaurant with top-notch service and treatment. we were so chuffed, couldn’t have asked for more!

It was all great, we had no issues at all!

What an extraordinary hotel in every way! From the moment we arrived we were treated so kindly and attentively, nothing was too much trouble. Architecturally the hotel is gorgeous and the décor is very elegant too. The entrance hall offers a great welcome and the smiling friendly staff only add to that. The views are gorgeous too and it is very quiet. We stayed during a heatwave and the air conditioning was a godsend, the beds are extremely comfortable but the cool, fresh air ensured that we had a great nights sleep despite the heat. We tried both restaurants and, yes, the food was delicious in both! I just can't find fault with this hotel at all. The room was large, the bathroom too, and very comfortable. We caught taxi's into town and they were very cheep plus they were able to cut through the busy traffic by driving down the bus lanes so I would very much recommend this mode of transport.

Thrilled with the room, felt really luxurious, so fascinated with the wardrobe, when you opened the doors a light came on. This is our third visit to a city and on the last two occasions stayed at a holiday inn, SO pleased we picked this hotel

Well this isn’t the Bailbrooks fault, but we used a bus to get about, the problem for us was the walk back from the start of the drive to the hotel, it was extremely steep and hard going walking up the hill

Having spent two visits to this hotel I can not fault the rooms and service from all staff. Only every stop for breakfast and it really is amazing food and staff who appear to be very happy providing a service.

I hate giving bad comments however the gym is a joke. It is a tiny little box roof with only one treadmill, bike and a few weights. This seriously lets this hotel down. As working away a lot, I personally rely on a hotel who can provide a decent gym and for this reason only, I am afraid that I would not have this hotel as my first or even second choice.

Attention is super high level from a luxurious hotel and matches what you paid for, as an example, we went late for our dinner reservation almost 1 hour and they kept the restaurant open extra hours so we can have our dinner amazing service! Also our car went dead (battery) next day when leaving and they sorted out by calling a person to do jump start !! So whit this level of attention it was cheap what we paid
